### "Helpful video creator and editor for presentations and demonstrations"

August 17, 2026

5.0

I've enjoyed using Camtasia over several years. I use it to design step-by-step training videos, instructional walkthroughs, procedural demonstrations, and video presentations for advertising. The interface is clean and simple, the program is quite powerful to generate good quality videos. Projects are easy to manage and customize with additional media selection. I would highly recommend it. Pricing is absolutely reasonable for what you get out of it, starting as low as approximately $50 CAD per year for basic tools, up to $825 CAD per year for their AI-enabled suite which includes all their stock assets, transcript generation, multi-language support, and much more

Pros

Camtasia was an easy to use program. A novice can get up and running in a very short amount of time creating a new project. The ability to record interactively, import existing content in terms of audio files, images, and videos easily supports branding and pre-existing media. Flexible in terms of types of output generated, whether publishing directly to a locally-stored video or uploading directly to online platforms.

Cons

Doesn't immediately begin with a lot of built-in resources, however there are features that were accessible in their online site to add on animations, intros, etc. A few free options, mainly paid add-ons. As with any video editing, ensure your system has adequate storage and memory to handle its needs; otherwise it will be very jittery / stutters while reviewing the playback

### "My Go-To Video Creation Tool"

November 7, 2025

4.0

It's my favorite tool for personal projects and work projects. The webinars that they offer are very good and they are actually live. Not a pre-recorded playing of something perfected and manicured.

Pros

This is the easiest video editing software out there. The user interface is more intuitive than PremierePro. They also continue to improve the product but adding things into the Media Library and the transitions and annotations are slick and professional. I like that you can create mp4, m4a, gif and html compatible packages as output. The visualization of the audio clips makes it easy to clip and silence sections as needed. You can record your screen which makes it very useful for any training or teaching needs.

Cons

You have to pay for a subscription have the software from now on. That means it's a rolling cost. Also you need additional RAM and a decent graphics card if you edit something longer than, say, 1 minute long. Otherwise "normal" corporate laptop with crash out from the strain that the program demands.

Switched from

It's much easier to use. The learning curve is less.

### "Good features with many frustrations"

April 10, 2026

3.0

There are real gems, like the cursor editability, but a large number of frustrations. I did experiment with Camtasia Audiate, but didn't find it particularly useful. The AI voice generation took so much editing of the script to get emphasis in the right places, and still so clearly sounded like AI - I did a comparison with ElevenLabs, expecting similar results, and found that I didn't need to make any edits to the original script to get back something that sounded far more natural. I find it's got really nice features in a frustrating user interface with some strange limitations.

Pros

Being able to edit or create new cursor paths and smooth the cursor between clips is really helpful. I can see being able to create in-video quizzes useful, though I haven't actually needed to do this. Pan-and-zoom is easy to do once you know how, nice and easy to split and trim clips and edit clip speed.

Cons

Can't play back at half-speed for editing - you can speed up playback, but it would be really helpful to me if I could play it slower to pinpoint moments without having to do it frame by frame. I don't find some of it very intuitive - I managed to get the audio captioned on the audio track once, which was really helpful, but I've never managed to since. I find it really hard to zoom in to the right place on the canvas and there don't seem to be scroll bars to move it once I'm zoomed in, so I end up zooming in and out again and again to try and see the area I want to. I waste more time than I'd like battling with the UI.

### "Camtasia 2026"

November 28, 2025

5.0

10/10 experience with Camtasia! In face, we also use audiate and snag it! We love the whole suite of products!

Pros

I w never really had to speak with customer service when it’s come to Camtasia, however I met the Camtasia team at DevLearn and thought they were wonderful! So if their \[sensitive content hidden\] we support is anything like the team and DevLearn, I’m sure they are great! I absolutely love how easy Camtasia is to use to edit and record videos! Also, it’s so intuitively! Their training that I believe happens weekly/monthly is so easy to follow and usually really helpful!

Cons

I do t particularly like that it seems like everything is an add on! I really want the new assets with my subscription but not sure I’ll use it enough to pay that price.

### "A great video editing tool"

June 9, 2025

4.0

A great editing tool that's not overly complicated to learn or use. You can produce to complex videos if you wanted, and also striking, engaging tutorial videos.

Pros

The UI for Camtasia is not a big learning curve like other editors. Whilst it seems more simple compared to other editors, Camtasia gives you a lot of features to create great content. The screen recorder is an excellent tool and produces great screen recordings. Camtasia comes with a large amount of tools such as transitions, effects, colour grading, behaviours and assets. AI features are very good in Camtasia and always improving.

Cons

Lack of audio editing features. There are audio editing features available, but it lacks some key features which are the norm across other editing tools, like merging tracks so two audio tracks blend together, or use of AI to extend a audio tracks, so you can have one audio track, and extend across the length of the video and it will automatically create you are longer track.

### "Customer support sucks"

June 4, 2025

1.0

I thought it was inexpensive but with constant need to upgrade, it's not. I now absolutely hate this software and don't trust the company.

Pros

I had years of using Avid and Premiere. For my own personal use I wanted something inexpensive and easy to use. This USED to fit that bill.

Cons

After very short order, the SW doesn't work. The company won't help you with support cuz they want you to upgrade. I use it so little, it isn't worth it to me. I have an issue, tech support won't even answer me and they probably know exactly what I need to do to get my export to work and won't tell me. Their online literature doesn't cover it, and I'm pissed!

### "Absolutely perfect for training videos"

September 15, 2025

5.0

This is such a great tool for designing training videos, and I would recommend it. The software is pretty much straightforward, and there are many creative options available.

Pros

I use the tool to make training videos, and it makes the process easy. There are many artistic effects you can incorporate to whatever video you are making.

Cons

I wish Audiate (the text-to-speech) feature was integrated instead of having to be 2 separate features. I would also like more annotation options.

### "Camtasia makes technical storytelling much easier"

April 30, 2026

4.0

Overall, Camtasia has been a high-value part of my workflow. It has significantly reduced the time I spend creating administrative documentation by allowing me to replace lengthy written PRDs with concise, high-fidelity video walkthroughs. In practice, that has helped me turn around deliverables much faster than larger competitors while still giving clients a polished, clear explanation of the software. Although the pricing is high and rendering can be resource-intensive, the time savings, presentation quality, and reliability have made it a worthwhile investment for my business.

Pros

Camtasia makes it easy to combine screen recordings, PowerPoint slides, and external images in a single project, which is essential for my consulting deliverables. It helps me produce client-ready software overviews much faster than traditional video editors do, and features like cursor smoothing and callouts add a polished, professional feel without requiring a lengthy editing process. As a one-person agency, I also value reliability, and in my experience, Camtasia has been a stable and dependable part of my workflow for the past five years.

Cons

Camtasia is expensive for a solo operator. Between the license cost and annual maintenance fees, I often find myself evaluating leaner alternatives, even though I still consider it a top-tier product in terms of output quality. It is also fairly demanding on system resources during rendering, which can slow down other intensive local workloads. In my case, that is especially noticeable when I am running AI-heavy processes on the same machine.

Pros

### "Camtasia, the user-friendly software"

December 11, 2025

5.0

Amazing software for creating videos for online and hybrid courses. It is also user-friendly, particularly to new users.

Pros

It creates excellent screen recordings and is user-friendly. In addition, audio editing and accurate captions are a plus.

Cons

Camtesia is very expensive, plus the company charges for the updated version. It also lacks the advanced editing capabilities you find in other software similar to it.

### "Camtasia Video/Audio Software"

January 25, 2024

5.0

I have been using Camtasia since 2014. Each year, as presentation methods change the team at Camtasia has upgraded the software to meet the market demand. The software is updated as needed, and if you add the maintenance package, the following new version is included. My decision was based on getting by or having a professional presentation.

Pros

I especially like the ease of use, professional product look, and impact. You can find free online products that say they produce professional results, but it isn't true. The other issue is the optional add-ons like symbols and photo libraries. You can save your photos and logos within the library.

Cons

Short learning curve but like anything that looks professional it takes a bit of time to become proficient.

### "The Non-Corporate Enthusiast"

April 22, 2024

5.0

I understand that further development has "corporate appeal" as its main aim. As a single user, a retired non-corporate user, I am not your principal focus. I am getting left behind as recent upgrades reflect corporate rates ($$$$) The program is of great value but upgrade costs for features that I don't use are quickly separating me as a future user. And that would be a shame.

Pros

Camtasia is used frequenty, every week, but often daily. More than a hobbiest, it is a principal tool in my video editing toolbox.

Cons

I am not a fan of the available navigation tools for timeline editing, but with frequent use, I have my workarounds. I would not want to be without the program.

### "Easiest Video Editor - some features need work."

April 16, 2024

4.0

I have switched to other video editors. They're either overly complicated (too feature-rich) or too expensive. Some are too simplistic. Camtasia continues to be the easiest to learn, use, and deploy videos. Regardless of whatever tools I try, I keep coming back to Camtasia.

Pros

Camtasia is intuitive. It's pretty easy to understand how to get samples into the editor, how to cut scenes, how to stack videos and audio. There are a lot of audio and video effects that are obvious as to how to use them and what they do. The barriers to entry are very low. And it's a decent price for the capabilities.

Cons

The new "Background Removal" is not great (moving around causes flickering). A long-time complaint is a lack of Video Titling. No easy way to time-reverse a snippet. Chromakey (remove color) doesn't work well.

### "If You're Serious About Video You Need To Get Camtasia"

April 16, 2024

5.0

I've been using Camtasia for years and while I have looked at other systems, I always come back to Camtasia because it remains constant, even when the latest versions are released.

Pros

The best thing I like about Camtasia is that it always stays up to date with video creation trends, so that you can always create relevant videos.

Cons

If there's a failing, it's simply the learning curve. But really, that's not a failing. It's only because there are so many cool features that it can take a while before you get into the swing of video creation. Once learnt though, it becomes a breeze.

### "A robust tool for creaing engaging and streamlined videos"

December 10, 2025

5.0

Camtasia is an awesome tool that has made it very easy to create trainings around new technology or product launches for end users to follow along and engage with.

Pros

Camtasia offers many video editions options to make content much more engaging for viewers. Screen recording is very easy to do, and post recording editing to remove unneeded portions or redundancies is great for streamlining training.

Cons

It is a heavy tool that requires a good computer. It is not the fault of the software since it is a very robust tool, but it is good to know that it does need a reliable computer.

### "Camtasia is a dependable screen and audio capture software"

July 22, 2025

5.0

I use Camtasia to screen record when capturing product demos. I'm able to capture in 1080p resolution, and the end results are always as expected. It's easy to export in the file types I prefer.

Pros

Camtasia offers me a very effective and convenient way to screen record, capturing both the on-screen visuals as well as computer-audio and microphone audio should I so choose. It also has nice post-production functionality, like smoothing and enlarging the mouse icon.

Cons

Camtasia asks me to upgrade to the newest version every time I log in, but my license does not include updates. It is only good for the older version. I'd have to pay to update.

### "Camtasia Pro's and Con's"

April 17, 2024

4.0

Overall is a good experience. It seems like a solid product built by solid people.

Pros

I find Camtasia afordable and overall functional - and having a permanent license is something I enjoy a lot - for short ownership of product is something I like a lot - and I think that is some of the coolest things about Camtasia.

Cons

In general, Camtasia is a great software, if it would not be laggy anymore, I think this would take over a lot of other products out there, so if there would be someone on product - defineltly focus on the functionality aspect of things, make it work smooth. If Camtasia would work smooth I think the number of users would start growing, other features I would keep on hold - do small improvements here and there. I would prioritize smoothness of editing - loading of assets and overall day to day operations on it. I would also probalby split the Camtasia Software as a base for editing and I would create a monetizeable library of assets for it - powered by community - with microtransactions where Camtasia keeps a certain percentage and commnunity can make money as well. This way there would be community engagement and new assets or even add-ons for editing different things.

Reason for choosing Camtasia

Stand alone license - which I can renew on some serious updates - keep retetion of the product ownership- so for short ownership of my purchase.

### "Editing videos and creating videos is very easy"

April 16, 2024

5.0

I feel comfortable with it. I appreciate the overall UX and the functonnalities match my needs.

Pros

Camtasia has been improving a lot over the years and is still offered at a reasonable price. For me, this is a very good mark of quality in a company. I want to be able to trust and rely on a company when I invest time and money to learn their product and get comfortable with. Camtasia is a company that offers me that. Some online tools might have become more intuitive and easy to use but they don't offer reliable technical support and other services so critical to my work. I like working with Camtasia and I trust the product.

Cons

A few years ago, the software was not so stable and was crashing on a regular basis. This very rarely happens now and I never loose anything. So again, they have invested effort in improvement and they listen to their customers' needs.

### "Camtasia is fantastic"

August 23, 2021

5.0

I couldn't be more pleased with it. I never expected it to exceed my expectations but it did so now I can add it to my arsenal of screen recording software.

Pros

It was very easy to learn, the user interface has a very high-end feel to it and the overall functionality of Camtasia was surprisingly awesome. In all of my years using screen-casting software, this turned out to be one of the most pleasant to use, a lot of people who have used Camtasia can attest to that.

Cons

I personally don't have any gripes with Camtasia, but if I had to nitpick an issue I'd say that the trial version comes with a watermark so whatever project you're doing with it, the watermark will always be there reminding you that you're using a free copy.

Reason for choosing Camtasia

Camtasia was being used by a colleague of mine while I was visiting his visual studio. He swears by it and told me to do a quick project with it to see if I would like it or not. Needless to say, I was sold on it immediately.

### "Camtasia a once solid performer has really gone downhills"

December 16, 2021

1.0

I use to consider Camtasia to be rock solid and then several months ago I bought an update to a newer version. It has been a nightmare for me ever since. I have or had support but they are always gone and it is very difficult to submit a support ticket. Even then, I waited several days for them to return to work and all they did was find the same pdf I had already located which did not resolve my issue and close my ticket. It was all a complete waste of my time and money. The software crashes constantly now and I lose work with no end in sight. The updates never seem to improve anything anymore. They just seem to introduce more and worse crashing and lack of reliability. I don't feel the company is committed to this solution any longer. They just try to keep it out of the ditches and that is all.

Pros

It is fairly easy to schedule a recording although the constant updates lose your settings each time. The output files as an MP4 are convenient to view although you have to fix settings every time you go to render. Basic editing can be quick and easy but it can also get less than desirable results.

Cons

Support is unreliable for the product. Very limited hours and all they do is find what you can find yourself. Updates are very obtrusive with this software. They tend to crash and I have to completely uninstall and reinstall the software to get it up and going. Updates are short-lived. I apply updates to resolve feature issues and a couple of weeks later it is in trouble again and needs more maintenance.

### "The first step towards video editing."

May 13, 2022

5.0

I have used it for a long time, I have been using it for more than 3 years, and after gaining experience with the video editing method and taking the basics, I began to dig deeper into more professional software.

Pros

Camtasia is the first program I have used in my life to edit my videos, had it not been for the use of this program in the beginning, I would not have been able to use more professional programs such as Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects. I've used it for a long time and through it I've moved on and digging into other programs, and I admit it's an excellent program and a lot of people have gotten started with it. I used it for two things, the first is to edit my videos, and the second is to record my screen It is a very easy-to-use feature, the user interface is very simple, it has a lot of ready-made transitions between videos, as well as special transitions for texts, and also photo animations, you can put video subtitles, add graphic shapes and arrows, there are some sound effects that you can use very quickly In processing files and exporting videos. Camtasia targets the novice user in this field, because you can create simple videos of very high quality.

Cons

Camtasia lacks the most important feature, which is automatic saving, when the power is cut off, all the project I was working on disappeared, and I had to go back to build the entire work Also, it does not have professional transitions like in other programs, it is light, simple and limited in use.

### "Camtasia is a 'top-tier' video editing & recording software"

December 21, 2022

5.0

I have used Camtasia for a few years now, and have transferred it across to my new roles as it is a tool I prefer over other pieces of software. It offers a very easy set-up, with various opportunities to enhance videos. It also has a built-in screen recorder which is always handy, with the ability to add audio, voiceovers and much more! I plan to continue using Camtasia indefitinitely, and hope others get on board with using such a great tool! Always looking forward for updates and new developments with the software. It is a winner!

Pros

There are many reasons why I choose to use Camtasia over other software. Firstly, the set-up offers a simple and seamless user interface for creating, recording and editing videos. Whether you are a beginner or advanced video editor, this tool allows for a comprehensive experience. Camtasia offers inspiration for video creation, as well as multiple tools, effects and transitions that have helped bring our videos to life. The timeline offers an understandable way of creating projects, unlike software such as 'Premier Pro' which is very specific in it's target audience of trained professionals. Camtasia has everything you need in once place, and is a software that would make naybody feel confident in using!

Cons

The only thing I would mention, is that when exporting the final video, much like all software, so this is very much a 'me thing' - is that, if you move any content used in the video to a different folder on your user drive, you need to re-connect the images when opening the editing file again.

Reason for choosing Camtasia

Much easier set-up, offers training & accreditations, and provides inspiration!

### "Camtasia is why I can do what I do"

April 17, 2024

5.0

Overall, I’ve had a great experience with Camtasia. I’ve used it for YouTube, for my teaching and making training and demonstration videos for other contracts I’ve had.

Pros

The ability to edit video was a total game-changer. Otherwise, I may as well just post videos recorded with a phone camera. It allows my videos to be infinitely better than they would be otherwise. The timeline-style editing is great and I now think in those terms when recording.

Cons

The 2023 version is not as stable as the old version I had. The old version NEVER crashed (okay, maybe once in five years). 2023… has been known to choke when I try to use and edit large recordings. Have also had some problems with the license key sometimes just… going away and the system not accepting my license key when I re-enter it. Extremely annoying. I’ve had the new version since Nov. and this problem happens about every two months so far.

Reason for choosing Camtasia

I took a course on video editing for teachers and Camtasia is the software they used and required.
