Overall the product is very solid and as it comes as open source, I don't think there is a reason to purchase something else that comes with monthly subscription

Pros

The software is very easy to setup and install. Even beginner can follow the manual and have the software ready in minutes. Once configured, the dashboards are very well detailed and the pool of graphs and metrics allows to have very detailed view of the services that are monitored.

Cons

Installing the tool on older version servers might be a challenge. The agents don't run on old systems or are very hard to upgrade if previous version was used.

Reason for choosing Percona Monitoring and Management

It's more easier to maintain and setup, the user experience is better

PMM is a handy solution for an admin. It has superb dashboards and easy to implement with your systems. I used PMM for MongoDB, PostgreSQL. It can give you all metrics about application with ease. You can track operations, latencies, replication status and so on. Strongly advised!

Built-in dashboards with details, ready to use agents and exporters, community and professional support.

Cons

I wish it can monitor Windows systems as well as Linux.

Everything has its graph, comments are usually here to help to understand some major graphs

Cons

It's metrics-focused : everything is categories and everythings is displayed Without proper research, you cannot get how graphs are usable It could be an idea to design issue/tuning focused sections : eg categories which would focus with only few graphs to demonstrate some practical issue like "are my innodb log files size correct ?"

### "Best for MySQL Monitoring"

PMM has been a very helful tool to monitor MySQL databases. They provide reliable metrics and graphs which in turn lets you monitor your data systems with ease. The ase of deployment and free pricing along with the extra features makes it the topmost choice for anyone looking for a database monitoring software.

Pros

PMM is very easy to deploy. You can have it running and start monitoring your DBs within no time at all. It has a very user-friendly interface and an intuitive communication dashboard. Query Analysis (QAN) is super powerful and lets you find out problematic queries and how they can be improved. The alerting and tracking tools are also on-point. Most of all, it's open source and free, providing great relief to DBAs who otherwise had to manually monitor their databases.

Cons

The error log is rather unhelpful in identifying the actual problem while installing. It simply throws an error handshake and we are stuck having to identify the root cause on our own. There's also flexibility issues, especially with PostgreSQL, the setup is a bit difficult.

This tool so far has been very good and has given us good benefits, we have monitored many servers as it has exhaustive monitoring of your cloud applications, this tool is worth it.

Pros

This tool is good and easy to use to monitor various scaled applications, a very flexible monitor and can track many things, it also offers integrations with different services, what I like the most is the option to extract data from your services, clusters and infrastructure in a place.

Cons

I would like its interface to be more modern, but for the moment we have not had any type of error.

This was really good. Because it is easy to install and easy to add the instances to be monitored.

Pros

I like the alerts. I have Opsgenie and slack in my company and in both cases there are integration. It is impossible to use one monitoring tool for everything and PMM is complete for database.

Cons

I don't like too much Grafana. Grafan for me is a trick and from time to time the server simply lost my changes.

### "PMM 2 - The Monitoring Tool"

Some weeks ago one of our servers was killed. We couldn't get an ssh connection. We sayd: "we must restart the server.". After the restart all of us went to PMM to detect the real problem and fix. PMM showed the memory consumion was to hight. So we should redifine our memory definition politics, to some kin the of the server with slow resources level .

Pros

You get control of your database. You know what it is happend at any time. We detect many performance issues after we implement PMM like our monitoring database system.

Cons

We must review some PMM parameters becouse we have a lot of databases and objects in our sistem, so the queries to the information\_schema can kill our mysqld process.

We were trying to understand bottleneck queries in MySQL but unfortunately as PMM does not give insights for prepared statements we will not be using this product.

Pros

The most likable is that it is a free software and companies can use it's features without extra budget allocation

Cons

The most important feature is prepared statements, the query analytics does not work with the prepared statements and in the modern software development where most of the statements are prepared for the database, pmm does not log them and you have zero picture of the query analysis

Leading an early stage team that's hell bent on getting stuff out as fast as possible, we could really do with a lot less work on our hands, and Percona allows us to slack off on our database security and monitoring, with lightning fast queries, secure and ready support

Ummm, given that we are presently focused on getting the most out of the product, I'd say not. But I am pretty sure that the team is hard at work improving functionality

I loved the product and the utilities they provide and moreover it's beginner friendly so you can set it up hassle free even if you're a first timer working on this.

Pros

Well, first of all it's an new entrant to the monitoring world but packs all the features that you would typically find in some existing ones. The most used features are quite enhanced and more appealing to use. If you start to build your monitoring on this API then there's less of complexity and more of utilities.

Cons

I believe the more graphical the tools are they are more easy to understand. A point that can be worked on to some more extent.

Pros

The incredibly easy process of deployment and the inbuilt alert notification which has helped me a lot of times

Cons

Setting up those alerts to be up and working is a hassle. If you older version servers installing it is a challenge in itself.
