Day to day operation works great and we have no complaints on our daily operations working out of Foundaiton. We are able to train any new hires quickly on how to use the major modules like accounts payable. We can also make Foundation work in a way and customize aspects of it that works for our company.

Pros

Modules are easy to use and flow in a way that makes sense. The reports Foundaton gives you access to covers almost any information that you may need to pull. And if the report you need is not there, you can typically make a customized report for what you need. Customer support has a good response time of typically a few hours to a day depending on the severity of the issue. Talking with customer support is easy and helpful.

Cons

Updates to Foundation come on a regular basis, which is great, but sometimes the items your company are looking for to be updated are not addressed until later updates. The new year update (V26.0.0) was one that didn't come out until January 8th which included 2026 tax tables. I would have hoped was released prior to the start of 2026. Important updates like this should have priority to release on time.

Foundation is very clunky and not very intuitive. It has a lot of really good information, but doesn't always do the best job of then reporting that information or provide a good way to organize that data.

Pros

The value for the cost. There are a lot of functions that Foundation's does very well, and it is a great option for smaller businesses that need more than what Quickbooks can offer.

Cons

The modules do not all speak to one another. Change orders do not flow through to Unit Price Billing. I do not like that you have to request support to help you, bc waiting on the call back can put you in a difficult spot.

Foundation was difficult to train on at first and took me a while to figure out how to find the information that I needed. Now that I've used it for a couple of years, I better understand how to navigate the program, though I think the system is a little clunky.

Pros

Log-a-call is a quick and easy way to get timely assistance from customer service; everyone I have worked with has been very helpful. When we have had problems with WorkMax and the HQ systems, there is almost always someone who is willing to put in the time to help us find our way through any given issue.

Cons

Very often the system seems buggy, and that goes for Foundation proper and then also the HQ and WorkMax offshoots, and the system is not overly intuitive.

Overall, my experience with Foundations Software has been very positive. The platform offers powerful tools specifically designed for the construction industry, including job costing, payroll, project management, reporting, and accounting. It has helped our team improve visibility into project performance and streamline many of our day-to-day operations. One area where there is room for improvement is the user interface. While the software is extremely capable, some screens and workflows feel a bit dated compared to newer cloud-based platforms. A more modern, intuitive design could help reduce the learning curve for new users and improve overall navigation. That said, the functionality, reporting capabilities, and construction-specific features far outweigh any drawbacks. Foundations continues to be a valuable tool for managing our projects and financial operations, and I would recommend it to other construction companies looking for a comprehensive management solution.

As a site development and underground utility contractor, we rely on accurate job costing, payroll tracking, equipment management, AP/AR, and project reporting, and Foundations helps keep everything organized in one place. One of the biggest benefits is the ability to track labor, equipment, and job costs in real time, giving management better visibility into project performance and profitability. The reporting features are robust, and the software is designed with the construction industry in mind rather than trying to force a generic accounting system to fit our needs. The field logs, payroll integration, project management tools, and accounting modules help streamline operations and improve communication between the office and field teams. We have found that the more data we consistently enter, the more valuable the reporting becomes for estimating future projects and monitoring current ones. Like any construction software, there is a learning curve, but once users become familiar with the system, it becomes an extremely powerful management tool. The change from Quickbooks to Foundations was challenging but has given us greater visibility into our company. Our training was thorough and the team was wonderful. The customer service is the best!! I can't wait to start using the einventory module

Pros

I like that it is highly customizable and the reporting features are wonderful. I like that I don't have to have all the modules offered but can add them at anytime.

Cons

It was quite the learning curve for some of our staff which resulted in a lot of entries that just make some of the customer accounts look "messy".

Foundation is easy to use and navigate. I also appreciate all the modules for different divisions that help with reporting accurate information.

Pros

Customer support is knowledgeable and efficient. Quick turn around. I have not had any issue that was not handled and most of the time it was a simple fix that helps me learn from my mistakes

Cons

I love Foundation - I don't know of any CONS thus far with using this product. We have added additional modules because they work well together when reporting.

I have had an overall great experience with Foundation and would love to add on more features if I can get our team to try some new features. Monthly/Quarterly and Year End are made easier with Foundation.

Pros

I really liked the easiness of learning the basics to run our accounting for construction. The customer support is very quick to respond and answer any of my questions. The software allows me to easily manage our AIA invoicing with general contractors which makes billing and receiving in payments easy.

Cons

I haven't really found any cons - only that there is so much more the software can do then I am aware of this time without taking on some actual training courses.

Great product and tool. All aspects are as they should and work great. Except for the updating which I wish Foundation would fix.

Pros

Ease of use and scalability. Reports are easily ran and the output always looks great. Automatic backups are also a plus.

Cons

Updating Foundation has always been an issue. Instead of automatic updates, manual updates are used and always a pain.

Great experience with Foundation Software so far. Really like foundation software but still struggling with Signingin difficulties.

Pros

Billing and payment like the most. Job costing is very great. I really like the foundation software.

Cons

Hosting. Need direct application to signin option instead of hosting. If you change this will be great.

Only worked in it for 1.5 years, so still learning. I am not comfortable with the data on the job activity reports. Frustrated with how labor is recorded. Need to be able to record labor based on work date with the system generating an acrrual at the end of the period, along with the reversing entry.

Pros

Customer Support is gold star. Quick response, knowledgeable reps who are able to explain the situation.

Cons

Unable to job cost labor based on work date. Can't find a snapshot of the job activity on 1 screen. Would love to see original contact & cost, change orders, JTD billing & costs, & cash collected on one screen. --- Unable to have sub-accounts for the credit card rec.
