Comments: As I said, this is a great product created with the consumer and ALL its needs in mind. From invoices, to AIAs, reports, etc....it is all so easy. And should you need any type of support, Foundation is really quick to return your call and to find a solution. We couldn't be happier about this choice we made. We save so much in time using this over other programs we've tried.

Pros: It is EXACTLY what we need being in the Construction business. It is so easy to get all sorts of reports we need, to create documents (invoices, etc), and to get support when needed.

Pros: Extremely intuitive. Great functionality out of the box. The ability to easily write our own reports is a huge benefit.

Cons: Mobile software somewhat lacking. We would like the ability to better customize this feature for our specific needs.

Pros: Feature-rich design When we place a support call, we almost always have a call back that same day, even for non-critical issues. Critical issues are usually addressed within hours.

Cons: As a new customer, the software can be intimidating, but we've always been able to move forward with customer support.

Comments: We chose Foundation for it's array of features, depth of reports, its customization options, and its affordability. Much cheaper than buying software that you have to pay per user access fees for. There are quirks, but once you understand the system, it's generally easy to navigate and manage them. Extremely feature rich. Would definitely recommend.

Pros: Incredible amount of features, options, and reporting functionality. Can pretty much do anything you would ever want to do, accounting-wise. Project Management module pays for itself. Other customization options are very nice. Price is extremely attractive for amount of features in the software. Customer support is A+++++.

Cons: Very steep learning curve, to use advanced features. Genie is a pain and really cumbersome, probably my least favorite part of the software, even though it's sold as a great feature. Software isn't always forgiving about mistakes, but customer support makes up for it.

Comments: We have a very complicated payroll for the simple fact that we are a multi state, multi union company. This means many different rates of pay, taxation tables and unions, as well as our Administration and Shop payrolls. P4C thru Foundation has been able to handle this with ease and I really am happy with the service they have provided to us in the past 2 1/2 years. I hope to continue a much longer relationship with them. Whenever a support call is logged, usually one of the 2 reps. call back almost immediately and help work through any issue, no matter how long it takes. They are personable and professional and always helpful. Reliable system, easy time entry and reports generated are very easy to read.

Pros: I love the fact that P4C can handle all of our multi state and multi union (sometimes up to 55 different unions) Time entry is very easy, and includes attaching hours to jobs and tasks with ease. The system is very user friendly and the Support staff is phenomanal. Generates great union reports, job costing and also great HR reports as well, such as 401k reporting. We can process same day layoff checks which is a must for union payrolls. Also not charged by the number of employees in the system as with other payroll companies. I love that it is web based so i can work from anywhere. They are able to create payroll cycles, so each cycle can have a different address, and they deliver the checks to the exact locations. So i can enter all my time and be assured that jobs in other states have checks go directly to the location versus coming here.

Cons: I don't like that if i have multiple payroll cycles computed and i have to purge one, that it will purge ALL computed cycles, not just the one I had chosen.

Glad we purchased Foundations!

Pros: Job costing reports have been very helpful; payroll processing has been great; support has been absolutely WONDERFUL!

Cons: ease of ability to find past transactions; having to find transaction numbers. If there was a way to be able to use some kind of "find" method that would be awesome.

Comments: I find it easy to use. It was easy and quick to learn. Reports are helpful - different than I am use to but cleaner.

Pros: I think the layout of the software is great. Its easy to follow and easy to find functions needed. Easy to learn!

Cons: Foundation doesnt have every report I am use to, but I was using the same software for 10 yrs, I just need to get use to the new reports.

Comments: There are better programs out there.

Pros: The program does it all besides estimating. Has a good system of checks and balances and everything is tracked so very hard for employees to cover their tracks. It does a lot well but everything has its hiccups.

Cons: There are several things I dislike about the product as it has so much potential to be 10x better yet they have no ambition to make it better. 95% up the updates released by foundation software are fixes to glitches or problems. Very rarely is there an actual new feature or upgrade to the program. There are several flaws with the program that would be easy to fix, which have been suggested but go unanswered. Such as the pages scroll very awkwardly, they jump at the end of the page onto the next page but not at the top of the page. Very difficult to review a report on the screen when it keeps going back and forth. Their support team must have a very high turnover as everytime I call I know more than the person who is suppose to be providing the support. To their credit they do go and get the right answer and get back to you but the typical resolution to a problem is 24 hours. For us 2 hours is a long time when your waiting on an important resolution such as payroll.

Comments: Great trainer - great response time to questions

Pros: Logical and menu driven. Easy to train my co-workers. The similar menus in each module make it simple to navigate.

Cons: Learning to make my own reports is a challenge. The report Genie is useful, but I need to take the time to learn to perfect my reports

Pros: They are constantly adding to the platform which already holds a ton of applicable features. Lets you set up a template for estimating that can be tweaked for individual jobs.

Cons: I've been using the software for a year now and it's still complicated to use. Change orders, as they often change or cancel, are difficult to change in the software.

Comments: One of my biggest complaints with our previous accounting software was that I still had to do so much manually on the side with Excel spreadsheets. This system automates all of the most time-consuming activities and also reduces errors because it eliminates the double and triple entries required across multiple systems and spreadsheets. The time savings and reduced errors

Pros: All-in-one flow through data tracking, integrated payroll, highly-detailed and automatic reporting, top customer support.

Cons: Some coding could be improved (but that is coming from our highly in-house technical coding expert). However, they do regularly update the software and take customer input into account when rolling out updates.

I utilize this software for job costing reports. It is exceptionally easy to compile reports.

Pros: I most like the knowledgeable support staff and quick response times to our assistance calls. We also had a great trainer at the beginning of the cutover to Foundation and the transition between one software system to the other was fairly smooth.

Cons: Biggest pet-peeve is that A/P Full Invoice Report cannot be pulled by job. That is the one really hindering issue I have in the A/P module, which is where I usually work.

Comments: If you need a basic software this is as good as anything else out there. You will be pleased with migrating away from manual systems, but will probably be ready to migrate again in 5-7 years to a more robust package.

Pros: Handles AP/AR/Gl/PR/ and job costing adequately. This is definitely a step up from Quick Books. Good customer support when contacted.

Cons: Very little help collateral for clients. Usually, a software whether ERP, Office, or even photo/video editing has a robust users group with many YouTube videos online to provide a self-service kiosk of information and recommendations on how people use the software. Virtually everything online is aimed at marketing the product, not supporting existing users. The Help Desk people are great, but I would rather be able to research my own solutions from people that are actually in the industry using the software rather than programmers.

Comments: Overall very happy with my decision to go to Foundation.

Pros: Much more robust product than what I have been using. The job costing module is very intuitive and seems to have all the reporting options I will need. The implantation process has been smooth and my trainer has been extremely professional and helpful.

Cons: I have only found a few small things that I would change. Would like more contact fields for contacts in the vendor maintenance.

Comments: I would highly recommend this program to contracting and construction businesses that employ 20+ people and also wants to track maintenance for equipment. The program, in my opinion, is not cost effective for smaller businesses

Pros: Very user friendly, if you have a basic understanding of accounting practices, it is easy to figure out where to go or what to do to find things, or fix errors. The report are easy to find, run & read. Customer service is excellent! The company hosts a training week for the software that is incredibly beneficial for both new & seasoned users. This software is similar to People Soft in what it can do without the complications and confusions!

Cons: Some of the add on programs (such as project management) appear to be unnecessary or even over complicated. You purchase a specific number of "seats" for users to log on which can be a huge hassle if you do not have enough seats, as it leaves employees waiting for others to finish up their work or stop mid-stream so that another user can log on and work.

Comments: The bad: When you sign on to Foundation, you get a shell program. They expect you to setup the system with them over the phone, did not want to perform a site visit. It takes 3 months of weekly phone calls to get the system operational. They also expect you to be an accountant to set up this system. Not a great system to create job invoices. Cannot calculate monthly union benefits - can only do by week. The good: Great time card management system, certified payrolls, AIA billing, accounts payable and accounts receivable.

Comments: We are still in the implementation stage of this product use. It's a slow process but for good reason so we can ensure our new software is setup correctly. We are looking forward to getting it live and running.

Comments: We used Foundation for just under 2 years. We had previously used some other software but had to find and different software program because our business had outgrown it. We spent a lot of time and money trying to get Foundation to work for our business but it was never a good fit. After just under 2 years we heard that our previous software had made some big changes and was able to accommodate our business so we made the transition back to them.

Foundation may be good for some business, but it wasn't a good fit for ours. At the time they had no representation on the west coast and only a few of their customer service/tech support could ever answer our questions. The system was very complicated and even seasoned 'pros' with years of experience in accounting and construction management struggled to use it effectively.

Cons: Making corrections is difficult to do

Comments: Foundation is an extremely user-friendly Accounting tool. It is obvious to me that all aspects of design, function, and user interface well very very well though out and are being constantly improved based on customer feedback and industry requirements.

Comments: Promises promises. Sales people will tell you anything to get you to make the purchase. Then you can expect to be hit whit a lot of "no! the software cannot do that", "you'll have to use a workaround", and "There is no easy way around that". Every transaction takes an additional couple steps in comparison to other accounting software. You cannot write a simple check without entering an invoice or using a part of the system that is full of glitches. The whole system needs a lot of work before the usability is compatible to it's competitors. Reports are difficult to read without knowing the format. Employees are forced to use a login to eaccess system to view paystubs, which costs additional $$. In addition, you cannot offer the employee the option of sending them a paper stub because the format is so messed up a "normal"person cannot read and understand it. The modules do not communicate effectively. As an experienced construction accountant I feel this system is difficult to deal with and disregards many state and federal rules in relation to construction accounting and labor compliance etc. CPR reports are useless. There are no tax reporting forms available, so get ready to go back to manual tax return completion (including 941 and state level payroll forms).

Pros: Increases job security because there are not many people who already know how to use the system, so once you are that person in your company you are valuable. Custom reporting is nice

Cons: Lack of tax reports and tax information availability for reporting taxes. Difficult processes, too many restrictions where they shouldn't be and not enough where there should. Most of the system is a Con.

Recommendations to other buyers: Ask them to use your data to create a practice file (before you make the purchase). Check it out, talk to other companies who use the software, be sure this is what you need for your company before it's too complicated.

Comments: While the price is a little $$$, the software is definitely worth it! When it comes to software you absolutely get what you pay for! This software took our company to the next level. Pros: The support is excellent. Our rep is excellent and we have enjoyed having her help us. She has made our software personalized to us and we get exactly what we need. I love that we can track change orders and the budgeting set up is great.

Cons: It would be nice to have some more features targeted at the Sub Contractors. Also, an integrated scheduler that is as easy to use as WhenIWork Software that the employees can clock in and out from an app on their phones. Also, reporting should be easier to create for the users instead of having to call Foundation to set up reports.

Recommendations to other buyers: Get training from Foundation. it is worth it to spend the money to learn from them and be able to use your software well from the get go.

Pros: It is dependable. I have worked at many other companies where the system would go down for unknown periods of time. That's not the case with Foundations. I've been working on it for over 2 years and the only conflicts we had was with Windows 10 and a sleep schedule of a monitor causing error boxes to populate as if the system had not been used for an extended period, and it was really easy to fix. I find the accounting side of the application to be the most user friendly of any program I have used. I like that it imports any file you'd like into CSV so that you can easily create a custom report. I like that they've made it incorporate with the State's requirements for Certified Payroll, while I don't process the payroll myself it saves my colleague many hours of manually entering that data.

Cons: Flexibility. We utilize excel to compensate for what Foundations lacks. For instance tracking projects quantities. The engineer at the company and project manager don't find Foundations user friendly or to be flexible enough to handle evolving projects.

Recommendations to other buyers: I like Foundations. I like that they have a mobile application now too. I'd focus on finding the right mobile application that will fit your business needs and then go from there. We are currently shopping mobile solutions and if we find one that we like more we'd consider changing our accounting software. Also, I'd look for a program that is not web based and is written in SQL like foundations. I think that is part of why it's so reliable.

Pros: We have just started using Foundation and so far I am extremely impressed with their implementation and training staff. They've been fast, friendly and accommodating to all my needs and questions. This product will help our company move to the next level because it will allow us to easily track where our expenses, costs and profits are going. The only reason my rating isn't higher is because I haven't used it long enough to give it a better rating.

Cons: we haven't used this product long enough to have found anything we don't like. It is simple to understand and easy to use.

Recommendations to other buyers: There are many different products available that claim to do the same thing. We had demonstrations with several other products and contacted clients of other software brands to ask about their experiences. After much consideration, we went with Foundation and have not been sorry.

Experience was very bad, and this was a poor decision to convert to it

Pros: The thing I really like is that we can process Multi-state payroll on all our employees on 1 check, whereas before on Quick Books we had to give each employee 2 payroll checks.

Cons: Their trainers and support staff do not know every piece of the system, yet we as users are supposed to know everything. We have had to call support numerous times on one issue because during setup with our trainer he did not know to select check boxes to activate accruals. By the way you have several different screens to setup 1 item so it functions properly. Also, we came from Quick Books where you can e-file tax reports and payments directly from the system. Foundation does NOT have this functionality. They asked me to show them this function of Quick Books so they could see how it worked. Unbelievable! Don't they research their competition? Reports- Their standard reports that come with the system do not allow you to drill down into more detail. That my friend is in another screen (you'll find there is A LOT of this). They will try to sell their software by telling you there is a report Genie, which is true, but I hope you know how to make query's' because that is about the only way you'll be able to customize reports properly. If you don't know how to do this you can pay Foundation to teach you! Also, you cant properly export an actual excel file properly, so be aware, it will take your CPA longer to reconcile accounts because of this you will spend more money.

Recommendations to other buyers: Run. If you like over complicated, multiple screen set-ups then this is the product for you! Be prepared to be VERY frustrated no matter your experience level with accounting, even our outsourced CPA's have difficulty with it and don't find the software user friendly.

Pros: I really like the payroll module, it's easy to use once you get use to it.

Cons: I don't really have anything major. The one thing I can think of is the lines of the description in the Entering AP Invoices is not long enough sometimes. The only other thing I don't care for is the Sales Tax Report breakdown. It could be very confusing at first.

Pros: The product is pretty user friendly and very robust. The vendor is very responsive to our needs and requests, are always available to help and provide excellent resources for learning and training. It is also nice to deal with the same people on a regular basis.

Cons: There are a few California compliance issues that we have to make adjustments for...lien releases, pay applications and time cards. I also wish the annual webinar package was less expensive. We already pay a lot for annual maintenance and the webinar package is very expensive.

Recommendations to other buyers: Consider the continued support and training opportunities offered and the frequency and expense. This will be vital to continued learning and mastery of software as well as for training new hires.

Pros: Love how they laid out a step by step plan of the entire process from installation to training to going live. Really liked that they could upload customers, vendors and chart of accounts. In the past, that was done manually. Training sessions were great. Louise explained everything so well, made it very easy to follow and understand. The entire staff is knowledgeable and friendly. Its a very upbeat company. Looking forward to a very long relationship with all of them.

Cons: More short cuts please. Too much tab tab tab or mouse use.

Recommendations to other buyers: Reporting features. Foundation has so many reports to choose from but also you have the ability to easily create your own. The payroll module is incredibly thorough. It calculates everything for you.

Pros: This system has lots of flexibility which is great, but can also be intimidating when setting up. My advice is to take your time, and invest time to mapping out expectations, needed reports, etc. The trainers have been excellent and very quick to answer questions or concerns which has been invaluable in making the switch from QuickBooks.

Cons: All software has limitations, and if I was to point to something we miss when moving from QuickBooks is the ability to "zoom" on on any transaction to see detail. Foundation has its own method for this, so you can get to the information, it just isn't quite as quick. Having said that, the construction reporting, controls are in a different league than QuickBooks

Recommendations to other buyers: As I said above, take time to map out expectations, and give yourself plenty of adjustment time when moving from another system. At first I thought the system was difficult to navigate, but now I really appreciate its layout. We are on the cloud version and some functions can be slow, such as document imaging but it is a small trade-off for being able to sign in anywhere and not having to maintain a server for accounting. It freed up our existing server which is now much faster at everything else.

Pros: Nothing. Sales representative sold the product really well; however, the product performed terribly and is vastly behind their competitors.

Cons: Interface is outdated. Took over 3 months to get custom forms developed. Customer support is horrid. PM module is an afterthought (Direct Quote from Trainer). 'Online" version is a basic remote desktop-in with poor performance in the field. Document management is too slow to be useful. With the online version. You need two separate passwords to login, which is annoying and complicated to implement with non-computer savy users.

Recommendations to other buyers: Look into other software options immediately. This product isn't worth your time. If you're interested in an accessible software in the field, this isn't it.

Pros: It seems it will take care of what we need. We have several divisions and a service department and will be able to utilize Service module to make our dispatching and scheduling more efficient.

Cons: We were assured the information in our previous software could be imported. However, it continues to be a challenge. We were told it will be not problem and they are familiar with our old software during the sales meeting. When we started the import, the technicians were not familiar at all with Open Systems. I am unhappy about the slow progress in converting to the new software. However, I know we will get there but probably not at the target date.

Pros: There are some features that are a step up from our old software. In accounts payable you can see the open balance by job. The 941 Breaks-out and summarizes much better on the report.

Cons: Where do I start. The certified payroll reports are useless. They don't calculate the benefits correctly. The sales tax report does not work at all in our state, so Foundations had to create an excel spreadsheet that every month so far they have had to readjust because it doesn't work properly. The SUTA report lumps everything together so now I have to do an excel spreadsheet to make sure my totals are correct because our state has two different rates. I have to reenter the job number when entering PO's because the software has a glitch and won't recognize the entire job number. It takes customer service a long time to call back and many times they don't know how to fix the issue. The software is cumbersome and not at all intuitive. I could go on and on

Recommendations to other buyers: I would recommend spending a little more on a software that has an easier work flow and not so many programming issues.

Pros: With Foundation Software, you can easily maneuver between windows and even modules. Our previous software was Sage Timberline, and this was not something that could be easily done. Foundation has great graphics, and the Executive Dashboard is wonderful for our company officers that want a quick and easy-to-understand overview.

Cons: It is always difficult to lean an entirely new software program. There is a learning curve that has to be dealt with.

Recommendations to other buyers: Go in knowing what reports you want to be able to generate. If you have specific needs like Union, Certified Payroll, or specific financial statement requirements make sure to ask if they are available. I have found Foundation to be very extensive for the price, and it meets all of our needs. We are a union electrical contractor and have a lot of different payroll requirements. I have been able to handle everything I need through the Foundation Software.

Pros: There isn't much! Trial balances weren't separated out into enough accounts. We lost two months of records and have no way to account for them. Our controller can't get the answers we need from customer service. It had to escalate to a manager who then didn't have time to completely answer all of the Controllers questions.

Cons: We got five different answers to the same question from Customer Service. We had customer service actually purge information, but didn't know how to get the information back into the system correctly. The trainer didn't complete the training on certain modules. We didn't finish the training on how to record payment for an AIA contract, because we ran out of time with the trainer. We were not given an opportunity to "buy" more time with trainer.

Comments: In early 2013 we made the decision to transition our company from the traditional server-based construction accounting software that we had used for over 20 years, to a cloud-based system. We were looking for a solid, reliable software solution that would run on the cloud without sacrificing accuracy, functionality, or speed of entry. After looking at demos of several different products we decided to implement Foundation for several key reasons. First, their reliability - after checking with existing users and some CPA firms that were familiar with the Foundation system, we were confident that we were choosing a product that we could depend on to consistently deliver what we require from an accounting system. Their scalability - we are currently a fairly small company, so the ability to easily add users as we grow was key to our decision. They have great features - of the products that we reviewed, Foundation had the richest set of features that we wanted in a construction software package. Although we were looking for an accounting solution, we were excited to see the range of capabilities in the project management and scheduling modules that Foundation offers. Their affordability - the initial implementation was very affordable, and the scalability of the product allows us to tailor the cost of the product to our budget as our business grows. They have a great reputation - Foundation has an excellent reputation for quality and service in the construction community, which is demonstrated with every interaction that we have had with their staff. We have only been using the system for about 2 months now, and have been able to manage our business operations without any issues. I attribute this to the excellent (and friendly, and patient) training that we received, as well as the quality of the product itself. I have had no reservations about our choice - Foundation is perfect for our organization!

Comments: We are a Heavy Highway Construction Company that went from an annual sales of $20M (using Quickbooks) to $80M within a few years with the help of FOUNDATION Software. We would not have been able to handle the increased workload had it not been for the implementation of this software. The transition was almost flawless with the training and support from the FOUNDATION Staff. Within a week after implementation we were up and running and since that time have been able to train new staff with ease. They continue to upgrade the software as the needs of their customers change. Anytime we have a question or an issue we generally receive assistance from Foundation within the hour. I have never worked with a company with such a quick response time and they have always been able to resolve our problems. Comments: My family owns a complete Road Construction business. We have been in business for over 32 years and have tried many accounting programs. They all were lacking something. Most were just not construction specific or were more geared towards buildings and had very few vague options for Road Work. The other down side was the cost increased every year for support and maintenance, and the programs were just not user friendly! We read an article about Foundation Software in a construction magazine, which in part listed Foundation Software as America¿s #1 construction accounting software. We decided to look into it and get a demo cd. We could tell right away this program made sense. It was like the staff at Foundation was running a Road Construction business and knew exactly where everything needed to flow and offered all the options we had been longing for. A few months later, we purchased Foundation Software for windows and could not be happier!!!! The implementation went very smoothly and only took a couple of months. Also, we have found answers to most questions/issues by clicking on the help button whereas with previous programs we had to wait to receive a call back. Sometimes it took a day or more! Comments: Our company is an installation company prividing intense labor for a warehouse type of environment, working nationwide. We started using the Foundation DOS system in 1999. We were very happy with the DOS system, however, keeping up with the times, we decided to update and go with the Foundation windows system. As always with something new, you can be a little reluctant, but after a week of going live we were extremely happy with the results. The windows system is pretty straight forward, I found it very easy to make the transition. We have been using the Foundation window system for just over one year. We are currently on version 12.13. We took the time to go into the all the different modules and find out how they worked. When a mistake is made it is very easy to correct for payables, receivables, and payroll. The customer support is excellent. Most of the time we receive a call back the same day from support, or early the next morning. It is extremely easy to log a call for support while you are actually working in Foundation. The instructors are very knowledgeable and quick to let you in on a the short cuts. Last fall, our server crashed and the Foundation support team came to our rescue until a new server was up and running. At first we did have one small prolem when looking for a specific report for our job costing needs. That was easily remedied by support, and we have every thing we need to follow our job progress from inception to completion now. Foundation made my work life run like a well oiled machine!

Comments: We started using Foundation Software in 2004. We had been using MAS-90, which is more of a manufacturing industry type software. We are a concrete subcontractor and the Job Cost Module is very important for our company. We also love the fact that you can have multiple databases. We operate in three different states and this feature really helps keep the different operations running separately. Foundation Software continues to listen to the customer and keeps making changes/upgrades that benfit the user. We are continually finding ways to save time and become more efficient in our every day accounting duties. It is also really nice to be able to control with a couple of clicks, which users can access/modify certain data within different modules. Since we are located in Washington state, we do utilize the customer support line from time to time. We have always found that the technicians go above and beyond to help with our specific problem. They have the ability to log into your actual session, so they can actually understand and visually see what you are trying to explain. I have always given Foundation Software permission to use our company as a reference. We have had only good feedback to deliver. Foundation Software is definitely a good investment if you are a construction company looking to utilize job cost, in house payroll, A/R, & A/P.

Comments: We are a small construction business specializing in structural steel installation. We have been extremely happy with Foundation Software. We upgraded our old system to the Foundation Software for Windows. The system if very user friendly, and can be used by a beginner or there are much more advanced functions that can be used by your avid user. It took no time at all for our staff to adjust to the use of Foundation Software, we could not believe we did not make the switch sooner. One of the neat things about Foundation Software is the customer support. No question is too big or small, in fact if there is something you'd like added to the system the support team will look into your request to see if they can make it work in the system. Switching our accounting software to Foundation was one of the best business decisions we have made.

Comments: We are a low voltage electrical/telecommunications company that started in June 2006. In 2009 our company was beginning to outgrow the capacity of Quickbooks. We needed something that would give us a more in depth look at job costing as well as track our expenses and all other apsects of doing business. We had no idea what we were getting ourselves into and how far we could take Foundation. We implemented Foundation on January 1, 2010 and are still learning functions everyday that contiue to help us grow! We have grown to a multi-million dollar a year company and we truly believe that we wouldn't have come this far without Foundation. With the detailed job costing we are able to see exactly to the penny where every job comes in at as well as calculate our rates for estimating purposes. We run our accounts payable, accounts receiveable, and payroll all through Foundation. The ease of doing AIA billing as well as certified payroll with a click of a button was one of the major reasons we first looked at Foundation. Today, we couldn't survive without Foundation. We have three administrators that work in Foundation daily to enter all of the information and we have 6 project managers that view reports daily. To this day, my husband, Owner and President no longer has to rely on the information for the jobs, costs, accounts payable accounts receiveable and many other things being kept in his head or many notebooks because he can rely on the detailed information that he can see in Foundation. We purchase the webinars every year along with the support and updates because we want to continue to grow with Foundation and we want to make sure that we are learning everything that we can. Switching from one accounting system to another is a big project, but this one was well worth it. We love working with the customer service and technical departments. Everyone is so helpful and makes sure that all of your needs are taken care of. As a side note, we also love seeing the Christmas Cards that are sent out each year! It reminds us that everyone at Foundation is a person and it really puts into perspective how much everyone must really love being a part of the Foundation team!

Comments: We are a general contractor specializing in fire restoration and insurance repair work. We were looking for a software program that offered extensive job cost reporting as well as accounting capabilities. After meeting with several software companies we chose Foundation because they offered the most comprehensive package at a reasonable price. We began with their DOS version in 1998 and are now using their Windows version. The implementation went smoothly and the initial training was completed in less than four hours. Foundation for Windows is very user friendly. The drop down lists and ease of interacting between windows are helpful when entering or retrieving information. This software also provides us with a variety of job costing reports which can be customized to fit our company needs. When we contact customer support they respond within minutes and will go out of their way to make sure the problem is resolved as quickly as possible. We have used Foundation for Windows for fourteen years and have never had an issue with it's performance. They continually update their system to modify or enhance its capability. Since using Foundation For Windows we have been able to track our job costs more efficiently and maintain an accurate accounting of our financial records.

Comments: We're a small family-owned paving and excavating company (about 20+ employees). Our original software was 18 years old and obviously antiquated. It was not even Windows based. We were looking for something that would give us the reports we wanted for job costing with good support. In some ways, support was actually one of the biggest factors in selecting Foundation. I have found the level of support to be outstanding. The help I've received has been absolutely wonderful- always patient, courteous and very friendly. I come away from support calls feeling that Foundation must be one very pleasant place to work! Five stars to the support folks! I researched five different software packages (reading their material and watching live demos) before making the decision (a very major decision, I might add). I also phoned six or seven of the companies already using Foundation with positive reports. The price and terms available were very good. All things considered, the conversion went smoothly with the help and encouragement of my trainer. I have a new appreciation for the importance of the initial set-up. We went "live" on January 1, 2012. Not a week goes by that I don't have an "AH-HA" moment when I learn something new that the software does to make things even easier. While it has been rather difficult making the mental transition from the old to the new, and I've had frustrating moments learning where to find my reports, I'm very pleased with my decision and would select Foundation again.

We have been using Foundation software for about 8 years and we have been very pleased. The software offers many features and it continues to be updated on a regular basis to keep up with companies needs. The support entity of Foundation is exceptional. Along with the support you can receive through phone or email or the help manual. Foundation holds a training conference each year that also provides a lot of information to make the job easier when using Foundation.

Comments: We are a leader in our industry and well known for our commitment to safety, quality and production. Before working at Belcher Roofing, I worked for my father's commercial union roofing and sheet metal company, Heistand Roofing & Sheet Metal, in Bensalem PA. We were one of the first roofing contractors to use Foundation Software in 1993 (then a DOS program). Even then it was user friendly, had excellent functionality, and easy to read reports including payroll and union. After joining Belcher Roofing Corp in 2011, I was introduced to the Windows version of Foundation software. Although very familiar with the software, I was impressed with the new features and the extreme ease of day to day operating. I quickly learned the Windows system. The job cost detail is outstanding and the reports are same. General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Payroll, etc. are all easy to use with powerful reporting tools. Using the system for almost 20 years, I would recommend Foundation Software to any contractor, union or not, for complete peace of mind. There is no other accounting software that compares.

Comments: We are a union steel erection company that works all over the United States. What has been great about FOUNDATION for Windows is that we can get our union reports set so our guys health & welfare, pension, and vacation can come back to their home union. The rest of the deductions and fringes can get reported to the away unions. This has made my life so much easier. We used a custom package before FOUNDATION for Windows and with going into different unions, the speed and user-friendly usage of Foundation, we could not have been nearly as efficient with our old system. This software saves us a lot of time and effort. I have been at this company for 23 years. I have done bookkeeping before computers were utilized, and I can run this system with great ease. We converted to dos in 1998 and windows in 2003. The change was easy, we received great guidance, and their support system is excellent. If you have a problem or get yourself in a jam FOUNDATIONS Tech's call you back quickly and get your problem solved. I would and have recommend FOUNDATION for Windows to many other construction companies.

Comments: My company is a Mechanical Contracting Company, specializing in bid and spec work and is known for it's commercial installations, as well as industrial plant maintenance and renovations and some government projects. We subcontract work with Insulation, Control, and Sheet Metal Subcontractors. Malone's Mechanical, Inc. recruits most of its employees through local union affiliates and is licensed in Arkansas and Oklahoma, drawing from as many as five different Plumbing and Pipefitting locals. We have some contracts, which require Certified Federal Payroll Reports, and because the system is date sensitive, the reports can be accessed and printed even after you have started the job. In 1999 we were faced with a decision to find different software for our business, as the software we were using was not going to be supported any longer. Y2K was having an unsettling effect on everyone and needing to change software at that time was becoming stressful. I saw an advertisement for Foundation Software that specialized in payroll for labor-intensive companies. This appealed to me because that would meet our needs. I contacted Foundation and the arrangements were made for an installation on a new computer for Foundation using DOS and a trainer to come and spend a week getting it up and running. Joe Bruno came and by Thursday we were completely installed and all information updated. We initially installed five modules and have since upgraded computers and Foundation Software each time a change was offered. Our last upgrade has been to Windows 7. Foundation continues to keep up with new technology and innovation. I have easily trained two other people to use the Payroll module, two for Accounts Payable, and another person who is responsible for Accounts Receivable and Job Costing. By maintaining the service contract offered each year, we have timely response and support to any situation. I do not feel the need to shop for other software when what we have is the best.

Comments: Before using Foundation Software we were using a program called Hyrdratec. Hydratec stopped servicing their accounting program and we had to try something else. When we were introduced to FOUNDATION for Windows I couldn't believe how much I liked it. It seemed to good to be true. The representative that trained me was wonderful. She was so helpful and knowledgeable. The program is so easy to use and understand. If I do have a problem I call the customer support line, and I am called back quickly by someone that can always help me solve my problem. This is a great program and I would recommend it to everyone.

Comments: Our company began using Foundation Software approximately 10 years ago. We were using a very out of date program that could not keep up with our needs. We are currently using version 11.7 FOUNDATION for Windows, and are pleased with how "user friendly" this program is. After purchasing, we had a tech come to our location to help us get started. The first module we used was payroll. It took about a day for the representative to explain the details and help us get started. A few months later we added more modules, so again a tech came out and it took about a half a day. From that point on, we were on our own. The customer support is in a league of their own. Updates are received regularly and easy to install. If we make a call, we can expect a response time of about 10-15 minutes. We can't say enough about how great this group of people is! Very friendly, knowledgeable, helpful and if they don't know an answer (which rarely happens) they will work with you until they find one. We are extremely happy since using FOUNDATION for Windows. We would highly recommend this program!!!

Comments: Since 1974, Williamson Builders (WBI) has been a family owned commercial construction company performing work in the greater Central Ohio region. We serve as a General Contractor for new building construction, additions, tenant build-outs, interior fit-ups and renovation projects. Prior to 2001, WBI had been using a text-based system. It worked well enough, but was not updated for the transition for the millennium. We converted to GEAC Staar Builder; which would have been a good choice if it had worked consistently. The software support representatives were baffled by the inconsistent and poor performance. They could offer no assurance that the program would ever work as intended. In 2001 Foundation Software was selected because it meet our needs. We currently have Version 10.6. The implementation went well. The personnel from Foundation Software were very helpful in all aspects of the process. FOUNDATION for Windows provided two or three days of training and installation. Over a 10-14 day period, the software was installed, the users had been trained, the initial data had been entered, and we were using the program. Foundation Software has a strong Customer Support Department. A support representative responds within a few hours and is always knowledgeable, courteous, and prompt in dealing with the issues that arise. FOUNDATION for Windows has allowed us to better track Job Cost, simplify our payroll processing, and allowed us to customize reports to fit our needs.

Comments: Cary & Associates Builders, Inc. is an award-winning Full Service General Contractor specializing in negotiated projects for the Design and Construction of Commercial, Industrial, Winery and Agricultural buildings. We used a very well-known complex construction software for approximately 18 years. Through the years, the problems with the software were accompanied by inordinate increases in support fees. We discussed each year whether to renew our support or look for another construction software. In April of 2003, it became obvious that the software could not be kept up and running and we had constant "crashes". At the same time we received the next year's support contract for about $6,000. It was the last straw for us. I began a search for a new software because I knew our system would crash as soon as our support ran out (which it did). I interviewed everyone I could locate and talked to our subcontractors. Our CFO said that ultimately I would have to go with my "gut" feeling and pick one. He said if it did not work out, we would just buy another one next year and we would still be ahead of the game. All my instincts said to buy FOUNDATION. With a lot of trepidation, I purchased the software and bought a ticket to Cleveland to attend training. FOUNDATION was able to help me before I got to class by transferring my Vendors, Job Numbers, Cost Codes, etc. into my new FOUNDATION Software. I had pulled my G/L down in the middle of our FYE and was ready to open it as soon as I knew what I was doing. Surprisingly, by the end of the week, we ran my first payroll right in class! We spread open my G/L and we were ready to go. They dropped my information off on a disk and I headed for home. The following Monday, we rolled FOUNDATION out on our server and have never had so much as a glitch in anything, let alone a crash. Once it was up and running, our team has able to learn the system easily. It is very user-friendly. Any problems or questions, you can click on the support button and get a call back in about 20 minutes! They can also connect directly to your computer (with permission) and help show you how to fix a problem (human generated) or they will fix it for you! Love it! We have benefited in so many ways it would be hard to describe them all. We are currently on version 11.9 and FOUNDATION has just rolled out their new automated update that updates your server and clients automatically! I suppose one of the biggest benefits is the amount of time it has saved. I used to work every holiday due to having to make hard closures, etc. but with FOUNDATION I have not worked a holiday since 2003! This system is astoundingly efficient. The AIA billing is easily reversed if an architect or owner decides on a different amount. The certified payroll is a dream. Although we are not union, it prepares multi-state, multi-county, multi-union etc. It does a wonderful printout for the 941 and in California our DE9. Our CPA loves the Fixed Asset module. He framed the first print out since he said he had never had one so accurate. Quite simply, we love FOUNDATION! We get great customer service from real people and a software solution that keeps progressing and enlarging on concepts to help construction companies!

Comments: We¿re a commercial design build electrical contractor. We selected Foundation for Windows Software for many reasons. The two main things that set it apart from other construction software products are the report writer and the ability to track and report committed costs. We believe understanding and tracking job cost and committed costs are one of the keys to being successful in today¿s competitive environment. Foundation¿s report writer allows you to easily create and utilize custom reports with the data important to you, on your own, and as often as you like. We utilize the inventory and purchasing modules which give us up-to-the minute accurate reporting for each project by cost code. Additionally, we are a union contractor with 8 different local unions in our territory, and we process our own payroll and union reports utilizing Foundation. The flexibility of the payroll module allows the entry of time cards in a manner that is most convenient for you, eliminating the double entry of information. The accounting side of the software, A/R, A/P and G/L are just as powerful as the job cost side. Finally, their technical support and training are outstanding because they understand that your business is very important to you and treat you like you¿re their only customer.

Comments: Large & Gilbert is the largest CPA firm in Georgia that deals exclusively with commercial contractors, and has been in business for over 40 years. One of our most valued services is helping companies get their accounting system set up correctly, and their accounting personnel trained to do the work accurately. Over the years, we have worked with and have become familiar with many of the various construction accounting systems, and have found FOUNDATION for Windows to be the best. We have visited the FOUNDATION offices in Cleveland, tested out their support staff, and have over 20 clients utilizing their software solution. One of my most common complaints regarding accounting systems is the lack of support. That has never been a problem with FOUNDATION since we began recommending them in 2000. The software is excellent! The support is excellent!! I highly recommend looking at FOUNDATION for Windows if you are interested in looking for a better construction accounting system.

Comments: hth companies, inc. is an industrial and general contractor serving clients across the Midwest. Our specialties include mechanical insulation, scaffold erection, industrial maintenance and janitorial services, vacuum truck and waterblasting services, as well as providing general construction services to governmental entities. In 2001, hth switched to Foundation Software from Peachtree in order to obtain a more complex job management, payroll and date sensitive program. We were spending a substantial amount of time tracking prevailing wage rates on a separate system. We were having issues tracking our multi-state taxes and struggled to produce adequate job costing and management reports that were date sensitive. We were very impressed by the ease of use and implementation of the system. We began our implementation process in October 2000 and went "live" on January 2001 in most of the modules. Foundation offered a training option which included training at their facility, using our data and setting up the system while learning to use it. Because Foundation Software is sold directly by the company, middle men are eliminated and response time for service and support is expedited. hth has been very pleased with Foundation Software from the ease of use, adaptability to ever-changing needs and functionality for the variety of services we offer. We have doubled our workforce and annual sales since inception of Foundation Software and the system continues to meet our needs.

Comments: Lighthouse Electric is a commercial / industrial electrical contractor operating primarily in Pennsylvania, West Virginia and Ohio. We are a union shop dealing with many local electricians, laborers, carpenters and operating engineers. We routinely employ several hundred tradesmen. Our software quest started with a goal: increase volume by 50% without adding overhead. That was 2001 and we soon realized our current accounting software was detrimental at current levels and could not support such an increase. We started looking for new software, prioritizing stability, support and functionality. We compiled a list of functions necessary to support our business. The candidates were narrowed to three who could support our efforts. Foundation Software had a clear edge in all three categories and, surprisingly, was the least expensive. We took the opportunity to reexamine our processes and develop streamlined procedures, taking advantage of Foundation¿s features. We had in-house training and imported data for jobs, employees, customers and vendors. We paralleled a few payrolls, tested other systems and went live in January 2002. We accomplished our business goal in two years. Currently we operate at 300% of our 2001 sales level with a few more people but the majority of them are estimators and project managers. Foundation continues to add features and functions but stays true to its core competencies: stability, support and functionality. We are certainly proof of their scalability. Foundation provides outstanding job costing and the unprecedented ability to reproduce any report back to your first transaction. The support staff is well-trained and very responsive, traits that are found in all the employees I have encountered at Foundation software. Utilizing Foundation¿s data genies (report writer) and Crystal Reports to access the MS-SQL data base, it is a very rare instance when we cannot provide information requested from internal or external sources. Our relationship with Foundation Software is a truly a partnership. Currently, we are using Foundation for Windows version 11.6. There are usually several updates per year which we apply without reservation.
