It is one of the most forgiving software programs I have used. Cons I do not like that in the middle of entering in an invoice foundation will stop working for a minute. Have been using this software for almost 20 years. It gets better all the time. Pros Ability to track & analyze everything for accountability. There are so many aspects to running a business and this program manages all components. Cons The only thing I can't do is track tools (at least without purchasing another module as far as I know). Foundation has changed us we were using "Mom and Pop" book keeping system and now we have a system that works with our commercial construction company from estimation to invoicing to change orders to payroll and more. Its all on one platform finally! Pros The training was great! Easy to learn. The trainers were personable, smart and know the product inside out. I am in my 50's so having a patient trainer was appreciated. I don't learn as quickly as I used to in my 20's! Cons The length of time it took to completely go live. I felt that it could have gone more quickly but that may have fallen on our schedules too. Payroll issues for sure. Pros Has a ton of features after getting implemented properly. Takes a lot of time to get fully implemented. Cons System is slow. Worst part is the getting new users process. We should be able to add users to onelogin without calling foundation. This should be fixed first. I see you are getting new IP addresses at new year. Hoping for increased speed. I know more now and think quickbooks enterprise could have done what we needed and saved a lot. Procore is awesome but the price is prohibiting. The customer support team is great. I wish that was an answer by email option. Pros I find that the support is very helpful. I also find that the videos online and the pdf documents give a good guide. Cons Some of the guides online seem like they may be a little bit outdated. Pros It really has a fairly low learning curve. Modules are in a place where you'd think it should be. Intuitive. Cons I feel it's just a bit outdated. Both GUI wise as well as customization and automation wise. Yes, genies help, but it's just not as streamlined and efficient as other programs. We now also use P4C and it has streamlined our payroll process tremendously. We previously has a third party and had a lot of duplicate entry and balancing and that has been eliminated. The training for the transition to P4C was excellent! Pros That is it customized for the construction industry. The training webinars and help links provided throughout the software are very useful. Cons It would be nice to have more flexibility when creating reports to include information from more than one information area i.e. Combining employee maintenance information with payroll history. Controller Construction Used the software for: 2+ years ### "Foundation is Worth it" October 25, 2024 4.0 I learned Foundation on my own with very little training coming into a company after implementation but without any accountant having gone through implementation. I learned Foundation from the one or two training sessions the company had left and the rest was self taught from the user guide and videos. It is a system that makes sense and is easy to use. It is also easily scalable coming from a multi-million dollar company with several thousand employees. Later implemented it for another company on my suggestion and improved my knowledge and our functionality. Pros The price and easy of use. All the other options are more expensive and more complicated for non accountants to use. This system allows for data entry to be uniform across the different modules and maintains the separation of duty and historical records. An entry can't just be deleted and hidden. A journal entry is required. This system offers so much for the money. From Job costing and T&M billing to Equipment and Inventory tracking. It can't be beat on value received for the price and I hope that doesn't change. Cons Custom Reporting and templates could be easier. PO approval process is missing from so many of systems out there and would be an added value. They are small enough to care about their clients! Pros Our company has been a Foundation client since 2016, and their customer support is always to notch. They will resolve all questions quickly and efficiently, and if some problems require actual updates to their software, they will put those into development que and make updates to improve their product based on customer feedback! Job costing is key in construction, and with Foundation it is built in once your company is live with Foundation. Foundation also has their payroll service, Payroll4Construction that is directly inside the software, so even complex Union and Certified payroll is simple to do and all Certified payroll reports come out either electronically to upload to various platforms, or on paper to send to entities who request those types of file. Cons Not much to dislike. Very robust system. They system is responsive, and I can navigate between screens with ease. Their support is still the best! Pros Their support and implementation process. The ability to handle our AP invoices and AR invoice AIA generation is nice. Cons Not able to store invoices to the record very easily, must use another module just for documents so it's not very convenient. System logs you off after about 30 min of inactivity. There are some quirks when it comes to paying bills via EFT or Credit Card but it just takes getting used to. Tracking PO's is hard no matter what system you use. Cons Hosted is down once every month or so which obviously impacts business. I've also recommended, for years, that they need to change how change orders work. You would think an approved change order would allow you to adjust your budget within a particular job but not in Foundation. You have return to the original budget and then make the change there. Fairly easy to use and figure out. Cons Foundation is great, however the ProjectHQ has things left to be desired. Although it should be a perfect match, it seems to have flaws that they have not figured out yet.
