### "Complete Construction Accounting System That Actually Works"

Overall, my experience has been very positive. FOUNDATION gives us strong visibility into our numbers and helps keep projects financially on track. The reporting is clear and useful for management decisions. For a construction company that wants accurate job costing and integrated accounting, this software stands out.

Pros

FOUNDATION works well for us because it is built specifically for construction. The job costing is detailed and reliable, which is critical when you are managing labor, materials, subcontractors, and equipment across multiple jobs. We also use other FOUNDATION products like Vendrix for credit cards, WorkMax for time tracking, and HRHQ. Having everything connected makes a big difference. Credit card transactions flow into the system, field time from WorkMax ties into payroll and job costs, and HRHQ helps keep employee information organized. It feels like a full ecosystem instead of separate software that does not talk to each other.

Cons

There is a learning curve, especially in the beginning. It is a powerful system and requires proper setup and training to use it the right way. Once it is implemented correctly, it becomes much easier to manage, but new users need time to get comfortable.

We switched from QuickBooks Desktop because it was not built specifically for construction. Job costing required too many workarounds, and reporting was limited when it came to tracking detailed labor, equipment, and subcontractor costs by job. As the company grew, we needed stronger construction-specific features, better project visibility, and more integrated tools. FOUNDATION provided more accurate job cost tracking, better payroll and certified payroll capabilities, and a system designed around how construction companies actually operate.

It's a good program but lacks progression. Foundation seems to be catching up and not evolving it's program - rather buying other programs as add-ons when they should look at the outdated features it already has inside and make it better for the clients.

Pros

That it tries to be a one-stop shop. Service is pretty responsive. For the most part, ease of use is simple.

Cons

Some of it's features are outdated like the payroll mobile module. They've just given up on it because they've acquired another system. Also, the document imaging hasn't been worked on. There's no drag and drop feature. If you want a query it'll take weeks when it shouldn't and you're charged an outrageous amount for a report that should be built in.

### "Foundation - construction accounting software"

Foundation has great support and internal consultants which is a big plus. Core accounting functionality works as expected and is a huge leap forward for someone coming off of QuickBooks and looking for a construction specific accounting software

Pros

Foundation handles Multi-union and multi-state payroll processing very well and has the ability to do corrections which is huge. Most electronic reporting needs are met as well so certified reports can be uploaded.

Cons

Lack of an open and public API limits 3rd party apps. Foundation need to prioritize this as it has been promised for some time but now appears to be a closed API release "coming soon" with only their select vendors.

Overall, I think Foundation is a great start, and I appreciate how you are constantly adding, changing, and growing with the market. Adding the AI Integration, and API Functionality would ensure our relationship continues for years to come.

Ease of Use, Document Management, and Management of Home/Away Logic for Multi-State/Multi-Trade Unions.

Cons

One area for potential improvement is the addition of API functionality. With recent advances in AI, integrating AI agents into workflows could be a valuable enhancement. This could enable automation of repetitive tasks, provide intelligent recommendations, and improve overall productivity. This is what your competitors are reaching out to us about.

Overall, our experience has been VERY positive! Foundation was the perfect, affordable solution to our growing pains.

Pros

I love the SUPPORT! Anytime I get stuck help is always just a phone call away! We have been able to utilize custom reports to get the data out exactly how we want it and the set up wasn't too bad (since we had great help!)

Cons

It doesn't do \*everything\* we want but it does so much more than Sage and it has shaved a huge burden off of our accounting department. On-boarding was really hard work - but it helped us get down into what we really needed and helped us get familiar with Foundation at the same time. We LOVED our onboarding specialist - \[sensitive content hidden\] She was the best teacher and we always looked forward to our time with her.

Features that are easy to access and the overall guidance and help has been so tremendous. Our Company enjoys this specific software over many others.

Pros

Foundations has a great support team. If we need guidance for anything with the software or have any question they are fast to respond and happy to help us. It is easy to use and the webinar videos help tremendously. Documents are easy to access and track with the help of Foundations.

Cons

I am still on the learning curve so far I don't have anything that is my least favorite. I will continue to learn more and grow with this software and possibly in the future could have helpful remarks.

Overall it is a great system. There are several things I would change from an accounting perspective but it is a good system for construction if you use it correctly.

Pros

Customer support, Certified Payroll, Union Reporting, Data Genie reports, Overall it is a very integrated system.

Cons

\-Lack of ability to pay subs based on pay-when-paid. UPB has some good bones set up but it does not tie to AP to pay vendors well. Payments have to be tracked outside the system. -UPB does not allow retainage paid to be applied so the Project Status Paid Report at the end of a project always shows an unpaid balance. Should be able to apply so balance do is zero. -Lack of ability to easily apply cash to customer accounts when there is no invoice to apply to -Bank Deposits should happen before cash application

Cons

Foundation is not very forgiving. You can fix any errors, but you must follow strict procedures. This is the only issue I have had.

Overall good been using Foundation software since 2015 alot has changed, Used it with three contractors that i worked for. Fringe reports are helpful. I like the software overall, but adjust AR and AP invoices can be difficult sometimes because of the posting periods being closed. Job cost reports are helpfull. Payroll is time consuming with all the steps but i understand the process. Do not want to outsource payroll. i will be nice to be able to scan ap invoices in and not have to enter all the information.

Pros

Easy to navigate, real time reports for job costs and financials, billing is simple and can be emailed.

Cons

price has gone up, positive payreport can't be used, have to manually edit the report to upload to the bank. Quicker Ap entry or credit card use entry

Overall, I do not believe that Foundation is a user friendly program and their training is not very effective or helpful. If you have an issue and seek guidance from their customer service representative chances are you will have to figure it out yourself.

Pros

Foundations makes Payroll corrections easy to accomplish and I also that you can create and customize your own reports.

Cons

Their customer service takes a long time to respond and their representatives are not very knowledgeable about all aspects of the program.

We are very happy with Foundation. Any issues we do come across are easily handled by their friendly and patient staff.

Pros

Foundation has a host of products available, many of which integrate automatically with their main software, helping our business to run smoothly and effortlessly. Their customer service and support are top-notch, with fast turnaround time and friendly response. New employees have found the system to be user-friendly and very easy to learn.

Cons

Although customizable reports are available, some data is difficult to export to a single report. This is easily maneuvered by merging multiple reports outside of the system, but it would be nicer if that step wasn't needed.

Pros

Foundation offers a variety of reports you can use for things like payroll, job costing and more. It is very helpful when it comes to fringe benefits and certified payroll. The implementation meetings are very informative and the staff is very kind and helpful. Overall very happy with this software purchase.

Cons

The format of the software seems outdated. I wish I could use AI to import information instead of manually typing info from DIR sheets.

I have been using Foundation for the past 31 years. The software is very user friendly. The ease of running reports.

Pros

The ease at inputting info and viewing the reports. Keeping the software up to date. Customer Service is the best, they call back in a timely manner.

Cons

Not really a con - but it is a vast software and it can do so much - I am only use a fraction of its capability.

My overall experience has been good. The support received when I have an issue is great. There was an issue with Payroll4Construction that took much longer than I felt necessary a couple of years ago but they have since sent out a more realistic timeline when it comes to correcting W2s.

Pros

Seamless transition with Payroll4Construction. This has made my job much easier and payroll takes way less time.

Cons

I would like more seamless transitions with modules like project management and estimating so we do not have to purchase separate products that work with Foundation. It would be nice to have 1 system that could handle all of the requirements a construction company needs. There was also a change made where if you have to do a back charge commitment instead of putting a negative number you have to put a negative one (-1) for the change order line and that is hard to remember when it has been awhile. I don't know why that makes more sense to some but it doesn't to me. Also sometimes when applying the commitment to invoices it says I am exceeding the PO amount when I am not. That makes it hard to tie everything back to the PO when the system is not recognizing that there is still money left. I have tripled checked that all my line items match the PO and it still says I am going over.

Overall, I would give Foundation a 7.5/10. It's a solid product and I appreciate the constant development Foundation does. I can't wait to see what the future brings.

Pros

Foundation runs rather smooth and is relatively user-friendly, which is a big plus for an ERP. Since we are a construction company, and like to provide job costing related reports to our VPs, so we appreciate it's respect for those aspects. There are several functions within that provide us an easy thorough process such as billing.

Cons

There are a few things that make completing our processes lengthy, or just more difficult in general. First, accessing invoices and/or attachments seems to be tiresome sometimes. Secondly, there seems to be a few too many steps to complete for logging a payment.

### "Pass if your business is heavy coding with accounting needs"

We originally wanted a construction coding and accounting software. This falls short on both. Once you have gotten through the initial training it can be pretty easy to use but the reporting side is absolute trash. I also have to say for the amount of money, you would think the overall look of the reports, checks, lists anything you print out would look a little more refined and professional...alas, not this software. Rudimentary.

Pros

Customer support is usually same day and specifically the backend support is amazing. They have a ton of videos for the basic troubleshooting.

Cons

This is a template structured software. You cannot specifically build it to your needs. Reports are super limited. Support to build reports is also limited. For a specialty construction software, I was so disappointed with details. This industry is structured to specifications; I feel the reporting from Foundation is not.

Overall, it is a pretty good system and ultimately does the job that we need it to. We do have to manage a lot outside of our accounting system such as changes to employees' benefits.

Pros

I like that we can pull certified payrolls directly from the system. The customer service is mostly very good and helpful.

Cons

It is a bit clunky and hard to see the details without digging in further. Finding the information, you need can be difficult. I cannot pull cash basis reports. Certified payrolls are slow to print and save. They system doesn't keep historical information well.

Overall, I've had a positive experience with Foundations. The software does take some getting used to, especially as an accountant and coming from a software such as quickbooks but once you get the hang of it it comes along pretty easily.

Pros

I like a lot of the integrated products that it offers. Customer Support is fantastic and great for when you need help doing things in the software.

Cons

The accounting software is difficult to use if you make mistakes and there are a lot of steps to undo and re-do transactions.

The price is very economical. I think it is geared towards smaller businesses, and can help them get the tools they need for a great price, but as the company grows I feel like Foundations does not do a great job of keeping up.

Cons

The modules don't speak to each other. I should be able to upload a CO, approve it, and have it appear in UP billing.

My overall experience with Foundation is good. We have been with Foundation for 14 years and Foundation has had numerous updates to fulfill the Construction world.

Pros

Customer Support is always willing to help and understand when there is a priority issues/question. There are multiple ways to get assistance when needed. Accounting and bookkeeping houses all the accounting data organizing and streamlined within the system. Billing and payments are 4/5 user friendly on Accounts Receivable part of the system. Accounts Payable is user friendly.

Cons

What I like least would have to be needing to click 3 different modules for the Accounts Payable to enter and process a payment.

Love the product, and the knowledgeable technical support team. Responses are quick and professional.

Pros

Foundation is designed for job costing in the construction industry. It also allows for all documents relating to a job to be stored in one place, making it easy to find everything related to a project in one place. Easily integrates with AIA invoicing and A/R management. Reports are professional and customizable and present a professional appearance to any who review them.

Cons

Some areas require a dual entry process. And some of the additional modules that are supposed to sync with Foundation tend to be a bit glitchy.

### "Allways current and Up to Date for Payroll Service"

It has made Payroll a breeze. This software works very well with our outside payroll service since we work on jobs throughout the US. Updates on Taxes are always current no matter what state our guys work.

Pros

I used Dexter Chaney for years; Foundation has been so much easier and efficient. We do not use as many of the modules as I would like, but our team is spread throughout the US.

Cons

Amount of time it takes for technical support could be faster, but they do have a lot of knowledge of the product.

### "We love Foundation!"

I think Foundation is such an asset for the price - it seems to cover all aspects of our company and our needs. We just recently started consulting with a Foundation specialist and that has helped us so much with the controls and sequences that are being calculated in the background of the system.

Pros

I love that Foundation offers so many different "modules" to cover anything from new construction jobs to service dispatch jobs. I also love that you can control what each user has the ability to see/use. We have many different trades at our company and Foundation software is the best to keep it all under one umbrella.

Cons

Foundation is an awesome tool if it is set up correctly in the beginning. I came to work at our company years after the set up, so employees were set in their ways with coding, etc. but there was a lot of manual entry/reporting still being done externally on spreadsheets, etc. that I feel could have been avoided if set up correctly in the beginning.
