Ramped up to over 300 estimates with 1.5 estimators with the 'all time' available support when needed. The ability to set up labor rate tables for standard and Prevailing Wage rates and toggle between as needed for a built up job has been very useful. Pros Ease of use and ability to create an item library to easily build up similar items and attenuate either within the item or as a subitem. Export to accounting for job cost comparison to estimate is slick Cons It takes some time to get used to hourly rate factor with our standard 50hr. work week setup. October 15, 2024 5.0 Pros Easier to setup and use than Heavy Bid. Onboarding was easy, done over teleconference call. Cons Had an issue initially with the setup. Windows 11 did not recognize SQL 2014 server. Support was wonderful, addressed the issue and I was up and running within 30 minutes! Also, too many mistakes are made using spread sheets to estimate. The time factor using this program greatly cuts down the input time which can be spent on a more thorough quantity take offs and gathering quotes from subs. We are a small company that was looking to update the way we estimate but didn't want to pay the big down payment for something we didn't know if we'd need. The construction link offered a monthly payment option which was very nice so we could make sure this was something we wanted. \[sensitive content hidden\] and the team there were awesome to work with and are always there to help if needed. We are extremely happy with the construction link and would highly recommend to anyone. Pros It was easy to use. You're able to save all your crew and equipment rates. And also change those rates to include overtime if that's needed. You can look at previous jobs that you've put together. The move money feature is really nice, and I like how it breaks down all your equipment, labor, material, or anything you have in a bid. Cons I haven't found anything bad about it yet. Initially it was "macro" that used Lotus Symphony. Over the years, CLI has greatly improved and took advantage of the latest technologies in computers and software. Recently we have switched to the Remote Estimating. This allows us to work off-site and ensures our database contains most recent additions and changes. Pros At first glance, I like the simplicity of the software - the ease of developing costs and then revising them as necessary. The software fits with how we estimate construction costs. The format is perfect for highway contractors. Cons I wish we could extract information from the database to create reports on historical jobs. For example, pull together all the Item Numbers for selected jobs and associated costs estimates. Use that information to analyze past production estimates etc. Reason for choosing Estimating Link CLI offered a great product over what was available at the time - mainly spreadsheets. We are building a repository of easily accessible estimates that can be analyzed, compared, and tracked. Pros I liked that we could get up and running in a fraction of the time it took to set up other software solutions; it was easy to train others to use; and the customer service staff have always been very accommodating and helpful. Consistently, customer service would not only solve the problem for which I was asking help, but also would make additional suggestions on what we could do with the software. Cons Though not really a con, it is probably important to know that the software does not have a take-off module. The estimator inputs take-off quantities done outside the software into the estimate. Reason for choosing Estimating Link Lower barriers to entry. Seemed much simpler to set up, use, and maintain. Seemed like an overall better value for the cost. After using the software and thou at times I do use excel, I much prefer the ease, accuracy, and how quickly I can turn out an estimate with the software. Pros Ease and accuracy for any project small or large. The ability to build crews to populate tasks in the estimate quickly. The seamless integration from Estimating Link to Field Link. Best of all thou is the ability to build and print reports from a wide selection of data (vendors, clients, estimate reports, etc.) that has been put in the system and stored. Cons Maybe a more affordable version. Utilizing the program for Demolition in my view is that the user uses maybe a 1/4 of what the program can actually do. I know in Construction, detail is crucial and with a lot of data, demo not so much. Also, if there was a way to customize the proposals that would be nice also. I wish we would have switched to it years ago. It has really sped up our bidding. Pros How much time it saves us in bidding on projects. It is a great software that I would recommend to everyone. Our sales director ( JF ) was great to work with. Her and the entire TCLI family have been great. Cons Not anything really. The whole process was really easier than I thought. If I did not understand anything, the TCLI family was there for us.
