Pros I love the fact you can create pre-assessment tests to test potential candidates' skill sets and understanding. Very worthwhile. Cons The basic service is excellent if you only need some essential functions, but if you are using the tool for a large amount of hiring, I would recommend to to use the top-tier plan. The basic plan was all I needed despite paying $150 to develop a test for a new candidate. Reason for choosing TestGorilla I read the reviews and I was able to watch a demo. Very simple program. People who can pass a test like this have memorized a lot of stuff they don't need to know, or are simply cheating. They need to find better ways to assess peoples' real-world skills. Pros It's simple to set up and use and pretty quick and secure. Cons The test questions and sections are poorly aligned with the job they are testing for, and mostly rely on rote memorization of things people would normally look up in documentation. Good price Cons several of my candidates experienced problems when trying to do the test. I reported this, but support is terrible, takes too long to get an answer and when they do respond, it looks like they dont want to help, they don't try to understand the problem. The offering for these types of services for smaller companies, which can't afford to spend thousands of dollars on recruitment is rather limited. TestGorilla gives you the option to objectively compare candidates with one another against criteria that matters most to you. Cons There were some bugs at some point (months ago), but they responded immediately, corrected the issue, and notified and apologized to the candidates. Cons The system doesn't notify us when someone has taken an assessment, so we have to keep an eye on it when we've invited someone to partake. This prevents us from fully automating this process. Pros It's easy to use. The UI is comfortable and modern, and there are many tests to choose from. Cons I used it to test candidates' familiarity with SQL. I am not personally familiar with SQL, so I relied on the test results. The results are analyzed on a binary basis: Either the candidate's code on each question was perfect, or it was a 0. Most of my candidates failed the tests spectacularly despite writing queries that were in some cases 99% accurate. Effectively the test results were less than useless, they were misleading. It's true that if a candidate doesn't ultimately get the correct answer in a coding porblem, that they will return a 0. This is why we allow candidates to run their code during the test process - to check. Candidates can run the code at any point during the test so that they can see if their code successfully performs the tasks required. Once the console returns errors, it is up to the engineer to look for and fix these errors just like they would outside of a testing environment. The ability to do so in a timely manner is a good reflection of the candidate's skills. So we feel that this a very good reflection of the skills of the candidate, and not a misleading result. Ram N. We used it to find a Customer service agent for our company Sukhi: we had over 1200 applications! Can you imagine how much work it would have been if we had to go through their CVs and emails one-by-one? The average test score is my favorite tool: a great way to distinguish between the candidates. Plus the option to ask the candidates to add a video: it gives a very good first impression combined with their test results. Cons The software is very clear and logical, no negative feedback. Pros Being able to curate assessments makes the software flexible Cons That assessments are limited to 5 exercises. I think this should be limited to 8. With test Gorilla, you can actually test this. Filtering of applications is faster and thus so is the interview process. Pros The ease of use and the detail of the results plus the flexibility in the choice of tests available when building up the tests which caters for various job titles. You can also compare candidates and thus makes your life easier. Cons We had an issue where a candidate concluded the test without taking the tests fully and we wanted him to re-take the test, however it did not allow me to resend the same test to the same email address. This is my first time to take the time and leave a review like this. I use a lot of different softwares but this one really impressed me. They took the time to develop their user flow to a high standard. Pros It gave me the confidence to hire. Before I have set up my own tests successfully in Google form but it required a large time investment on my side. Testgorilla was setup in minutes and it is far more professional than my approach at a reasonable price. Cons Not much to complain about. I would like to have the option in settings to change the email templates but other than that, all good.
