Executive Director Non-Profit Organization Management Used the software for: 2+ years ### "Easily the Best Platform on the Market" August 11, 2025 5.0 I consider myself a lifelong fan of MonkeyPod, and it is going to be hard for me to switch to any other platform. Even when I am looking to customize platforms based on company needs, MonkeyPod is there for it. I truly am a huge fan and feel like a weird spokesperson every time I get asked by others what solutions I have for X problems or challenges, the answer is almost always MonkeyPod. Other platforms are great too, but MonkeyPod is simply the best on the market right now, and their attention to detail and responsiveness to their base make it impossible to surpass IMO. Pros As someone with a 15+ year background in operations, I cannot tell you how amazing it is to actually find a platform that acts as a one-stop shop for organizational needs. It is honestly hard to pick one thing that I like most about MonkeyPod, and honestly, that isn't me blowing smoke. I truly adore the personalized service (literally, anyone I have contacted on the staff is friendly, personable, and eager to help). Beyond that, the functionality is extremely intuitive and the learning curve was not steep for things me or my team were not familiar with. Donor management is a breeze and highly customizable, email campaigns sync nicely, and modular pricing makes it easy to customize your experience to fit your organization's needs and budget. Cons I think the only con that I can see is that the development of their newer modular add-ons isn't as fast as I want it to be, purely selfish on my part. I would love to see more apps and integrations, but that is also the beautiful thing about MonkeyPod - they actively listen to what their users want most, and their development is based on those needs. Just need to know where to look. Adding new resources is easy and we can limit what people can see and update. As the Treasurer I find it much easier to use than other products and I can add tags and notes to transactions. Pros I find it easy to use and as the Treasurer it does both the debit and credit side of a transaction so I only have to do one. Easy to search relationships and it identifies possible duplicates. We create email campaigns and use them throughout the year. Even our less techie people are able to use it. Cons I would like to be able to create custom reports and be able to reuse them. I would like to add an item dropdown in the search of financial records. August 18, 2025 5.0 As a small NFP, MonkeyPod has helped us stabilize our financial resources, maximize our network and respond with alacrity and care for all our constituents. It has proven invaluable. Pros We find the integration of the CRM, Finances, fundraising, email and newsletter subscriptions as well as the automation throughout make MonkeyPod a standout. We easily switched from Quicken, Calendly, Active Campaign and several apps into one seamless integration. We easily connect with our donors and are super grateful to MonkeyPod! Cons The Bookkeeping has been slightly less intuitive than I had hoped and still requires some manual attention each month. We have international accounts and complex invoicing which is now largely automated thanks to MonkeyPod. The staff are helpful and providing support and suggestions on how to best use the product. Pros MonkeyPod is customizable, which I really like. Also, if I can't figure out how to do something, the staff have been open to providing answers and helpful suggestions for me quickly. They want our experience to be positive and useful, so, I have found them to be responsive, friendly, and very helpful! Cons Getting transitioned into the software from our old software was time-consuming and kind of a pain. I expect that would be the case with any transition like this. We often recommend it to others and use for primary communications via email, donor management and tracking, etc. Pros It brought together our frankenstein-ed systems into one system for communications, donor tracking, etc. and has been pretty smooth in operation and usability. Additionally, there have been improvements while we have had the platform, like Apply Pay! It helps us integrate donors with a CRM into accounting pretty seamlessly. Easy learning curve, easy to dive right in without training. We chose it because it integrates with Gusto, our payroll software. Cons There are some hiccups, small things but ones that make it a little more clunky than we'd hoped: for example, we can't use the invoicing feature as much as we'd hoped because of how it automatically codes payment (we'd like to use it as payment on a pledge, but it doesn't work like that). The reporting is also a little tricky -- reports aren't named what donors and board typically call them (P&L, etc.) and so I'm often looking up what MonkeyPod calls things. For example, a Statement of Activities rather than a P&L or Income Statement, which is what for-profit organizations produce. We also recently made some improvements to make collecting pledge payments easier. You can download PDFs to send to donors as well as send electronic payment links via email with customized messages. The weekly open tech support calls are a life saver with software that does so much and, when that just isn't quite enough, the staff are ALWAYS happy to help. They all go above and beyond. They even have a feature that allows you to track upgrades/new features and submit suggestions. We are blown away to have a system that integrates our CRM, donations, bookkeeping, email marketing, etc. It can even manage your board! Definitely built by people who know nonprofit systems well. Cons We've had zero difficulties with the product so far, but I guess our least favorite aspect is having to pay additional monthly fees for some of the add-ons or suites. While every database has its limitations, Monkeypod is a rare company that will respond to user needs and requests in a timely manner. I really feel we have a partner in database management! Any issues I have aren't deal breakers. It's the first CRM I've really had to work with, but I know my team did a lot of research before choosing it and I feel they made a good choice. December 17, 2021 5.0 The main problem with MonkeyPod is one that we would have with any tool--namely, the reluctance of some of our staff and Board members to take the time to learn a new tool. They want to cling to the old way of doing things, since this is easier on them, but by not taking a tougher line on transitioning we are missing out on the benefits for which MonkeyPod was chosen. I hope that's a temporary situation. Pros I have been very pleased with the responsiveness of MonkeyPod staff whenever I have had a question or concern. I feel that they not only listen to our organization's needs, but they really care about helping us to make data-based decisions to more successfully serve our community. Cons Using email addresses as IDs for entities (customer, donor) leads to duplicate records when the same person interacts with us via more than one email address. There are workarounds, but occasionally there is confusion. I would also like to use contra accounts--for example, to subtract discounts and refunds from our ticket data right there in the income section, instead of treating those more as expenditures. MonkeyPod doesn't currently support contra accounts, although that might change. Reason for choosing MonkeyPod Generally, the other tools were way out of our price range. Review Source TK Tim K. The team has provided us with helpful support and insight all along the way. Pros The MonkeyPod team has been immensely helpful with our onboarding process for their product. They provide thorough training and personalized support all along the way. Their system has made tracking our donors, Board information, members, and volunteers easy. It also has helpful tools available for tracking grants. Cons It would be nice to be able to send an email campaign to multiple email distribution lists at the same time. Membership Management is awesome and has significantly improved efficiency for our team! The support team is very responsive! Cons Not much to add here. Pros I like the fact that monkeypod eliminates the need for multiple systems. We were able to cancel 3 or 4 services because monkeypod was able to do the job of those 4 systems. Pros As an arts administrator, my day job uses very complex and outdated software that requires a team to operate the different locations in which our data resides. MonkeyPod is so simple one person can easy see and manipulate every bit of data in one place. My work with Nightingale (separate from my day job) is made that much easier as a result, and in just a month of using this software, our in-house operations have SIGNIFICANTLY improved beyond recognition. Amazing product for tiny non-profits such as ours. Cons As a musical organization, we need to sell tickets. The only integrated ticketing platform option is Eventbrite, which takes criminally high service fees. We've lost out on a good number of presales because of this. There are cheaper, ticketing platforms out there, but they do not integrate into the CRM. Perhaps this is something MonkeyPod can add in the future. Reason for choosing MonkeyPod We were storing everything in Google spreadsheets. It was a nightmare. MonkeyPod was the cheapest and most friendly service for small organizations like ours. Pros MonkeyPod allows me to manage many aspects of our nonprofit organization in one place, rather than disparate spreadsheets. At the core, it's a CRM / Donor-Management system, but the fact that it integrates budgeting, forecasting, bookkeeping, fundraising, invoicing, and grant administration makes it a very powerful tool for any nonprofit arts organization or business association. Cons As a new user, I am simply in awe of the features MonkeyPod boasts and have not yet found areas that are lacking. Not to say that I won't as I integrate the system across all of our management areas, but for now it's really going above and beyond what I expect from a CRM or Donor Management system.
