November 4, 2020 4.0 A basic remote learning tool which is easy to use but not feature rich. Pros It’s easy to use, has an iPhone app that is easy and intuitive to navigate. Great for seeing the progress by my child in school - I can see photos, sometimes photo collages, and also videos of my child uploaded by the teachers. The teachers also upload their weekly curriculum so I know what they’ve been learning. Cons It’s not as feature rich and when I used this during lockdown to respond to home based learning assignments and tasks assigned to my child, there’s no function to sort and filter through the many tasks . There’s no search option either. The only option is to scroll and look for the tasks and rely on memory on what the teacher uploaded. If a task had several subtasks, it was not always easy or possible to edit the previously submitted task so I end up creating a new task and the teacher has to figure out that it’s part 2 or part 3 of one assignment. There’s also no schedule functionality so that we can see the class timetable easily. Review Source MG Marcie G. Our school district is & has been doing remote learning exclusively since the last part of the last school year. I have 2 children 1 in 3rd grade and 1 in 1st. I AM NOT A HOME SCHOOLING MOM. This is all new to me. When the switch to remote learning happened it was a mess. Each of the kids had multiple sites, apps, etc where they had different passwords, assignments, and assigned time. It was impossible to keep up, I was always missing information and assignments. Fearful the kids were falling behind and we were doing school work from the time we woke up til the time we went to bed & still didn't have everything completed & turned in. I was overwhelmed/devastated at just the thought of doing that again this year. But, now we are using SeeSaw and I have my sanity & time back! Everything is in one place. The kids can use it independently. I am no longer missing information or assignments. It has Been a life saver. I cannot say enough good things about it. Pros It is easy to use! Well structured! Nothing unnecessary added, simple, organized, easy to learn and easy to use! Cons Lack of direct communication features ie, messaging or email between parents and staff all In one centralized place. Pros Seesaw is one of the best products I have used as an educator. I started using it with in person learning and it was such a great asset. Once we went to distance learning, it made the transition so much easier. I am able to give directions and assign different assignments. The students can complete the assignment, turn it in and I can respond to them individually. I can also share student presentations with the rest of the class, and they can leave positive comments. It is a wonderful tool to keep students and teachers connected. It makes a wonderful platform to communicate with our school administration. I love the layout and the ability to see the completed activities from my kiddo. Pros I love the easy to use inbox and journal features for my student. Pros I use this app to share pictures and track progress of my students with their parents. They can comment on their child's work or pictures. They can also send private messages to me. Can be helpful if you need to put a worksheet up for a student to complete virtually; however, I've found that my students prefer to just look at the worksheet from their email or Google Classroom and write their answers on a separate paper, rather than mess with text boxes and formatting in Seesaw. Pros Has a wealth of different resources in the library that teachers have access to. Makes it easy for distance learning and electronic submission. Cons Can be difficult for students to format when they are typing direction onto a worksheet. Not possible to upload multiple PDFs into one assignment. January 21, 2021 5.0 It was a wonderful and really positive addition to our second-grade year! We loved having this option. Pros Seesaw was so fun and easy to use. I loved getting daily reports from my child and getting to see her work. I loved that I could leave an encouraging note back and also communicate with the teacher. Cons Nothing - overall a really positive experience. I think it's a great tool for e-learning for elementary students, but it would be better if the cost was free. Pros What I liked most about Seesaw was that parents seemed to enjoy seeing their kids' work in the classroom. Also, there are several tutorials online to help you implement Seesaw into your classroom and I know many teachers who use this, especially during the pandemic. Cons Seesaw is a paid subscription, unlike ClassDojo that is free for teachers. With all the budget cuts due to the Pandemic, I wanted something free, so I ended up choosing ClassDojo over Seesaw.
