Pros: Reliability (up time) and functionality are extremely important as well as mirroring how we do business in terms of our estimating & scheduling model.

Cons: Some times the built in application used for creating proposals and other documents can be a bit tricky ... it's kind of like Microsoft Word but the formatting can be a little buggy at times (or perhaps fairer to say a little more prone to user error).

Overall: Like any system that has the level of functionality that Construction Suite has there are always going to be occasional "niggles". Customer Support are always extremely polite & professional and today, when I called a couple of times to discuss some minor and one not so minor issue customer, rep was extremely helpful and contrary to what is often the case with support these days, she actually took the time to listen and understand the issues & then helped to resolve every one of them in a timely manner. The most serious of these issues was actually a limitation of QuickBooks and not a Construction Suite issue but all the same this was given the same level of attention and resolved quickly. It makes life so much easier when speaking to someone who genuinely understands the product and is not just reading off a customer service script. UDA provides a fast track to feed issues directly to their development staff.

We have been using Construction Suite for several years now and although obviously, it is not a software solution built just for us, it often feels as if it is as it is so versatile. Technology is a huge aspect of our company and a big selling feature to our clients. We could not do what we do without it.

I would have rated ease of use as 5 stars; the only reason for giving it 4 is that due to the level of functionality it can take some time to grow in to and learn how best to use the functionality ... but if it were very very easy to use that would probably man a much lower score for features & functionality.

I give it a 4 for features as one can always want more.

Recommendations to other buyers: If you have an issue call and speak to support ... they are for the most part willing and able to assist resolving most issues and they do listen to their customers in terms of incorporating extra functionality. For us, we will be staying with Construction Suite as our main back-office system and using Construction Online on a more limited basis (project logging, change orders, and product selections are the main aspects of Construction Online we use on a daily basis). These are features that are easier to work with in the Online system as well as being able to convey details to clients that way more easily ... estimating & scheduling are features we find to be less cumbersome in the desktop application (ie. Construction Suite) and we create work orders and other reports out of Construction Suite. The online reports functionality is very limited.

Comments: Now that we've used Construction Suite for about six months, I wanted to share our experience and explain why I consider it a five star program. We are a small remodeling and cabinet company that specializes in highly individualized projects, with almost all of our design work done in-house. We originally set out to find a replacement for our Excel estimating spreadsheet and to move our scheduling off of a wall calendar. What we've wound up with is an entirely new way of running the business side of things, with all of our contracts and documents, customer management, and job costing being done through Construction Suite now as well as estimating and scheduling. As the owner, I was not expecting to change how I tracked customers (Zoho CRM) or handled job costing (Quickbooks Contractor) but I couldn't be happier now with handling all that information in one place. It has been an easy transition out of our old systems and into Construction Suite by taking things one process at a time; for example we moved estimating over, then contracts and scheduling, etc. and we're now about 90% transitioned. In the other programs we evaluated, I found they seemed to be geared towards general contractors that rely heavily on subcontractors, leaving the estimating side of things with no more utility than our old spreadsheets. Construction Suite's estimating allows us to break down costs into as much or as little detail as we need, and communicate with Quickbooks to track actual cost vs. estimated costs at whatever level of detail we need. For example, we may enter flooring for a project as one item ( a subcontractor's quote) and in the same estimate break down costs for a kitchen island down to each hinge and drawer guide, all in the same estimate. This has been a game changer for us and has cut estimating time down by at least half. Most of all, I can compare each line in the estimate to the actual cost imported from Quickbooks, and know down to the line item if we've made or lost money. If you've tried job costing in Quickbooks, I've felt your pain and I'm here to say there's a better way. There are many more positive things I could elaborate on but I don't want to turn this into a novel, so here's the gist of it: Programs like this can be intimidating, but Construction Suite can be approached as a collection of smaller programs with tiny learning curves. You can treat it as a contacts list to start, then master the calendar, and so on. This worked well for me. Call them. Buy TotalCare and you'll get your money's worth in advice from people who know their stuff. Overall this has been the best single feature of Construction Suite. Good luck with your search, Mike Jungers, Owner New World Contracting

Pros: Depth. For almost every phone call to tech support, there has been a feature already in the program that does what I need. Not that it's a hard program to learn, I've just found it's faster and much more pleasant to call them and let them teach me. Top notch customer service! A bunch more pros, but a small one that I really enjoy is it's pleasant to look at. Well done design team.

Cons: I have had a few cons, such as using assemblies in an estimate, but the version 8 update has addressed literally every small complaint I've had.

Recommendations to other buyers: Call UDA and let them give you a demo. If you do buy it, don't get intimidated, just move your contacts over and in the process you'll find how intuitive everything is and go from there.

Pros: Good product for managing projects. The software can be used for construction projects as it was designed, but can also be used for other projects as it is a good tool for managing projects. From one person operations to small companies this tool can be used as a means to have a good workflow system for managing projects. I have used it for construction but also for environmental consulting. It would be pretty easy for UDA to tweak the software to make it less tied to construction and more general for project management. But all in all it is a well designed and pretty easy to operate project management software.

Cons: The biggest issue I have with ConstructionSuite and UDA is their TotalCare program. It is almost like I have to know the secret handshake. With other software vendors (e.g. Microsoft, Autodesk, Adobe) I can download the software by getting into my account. So if I have to reinstall, which I recently had to do, I had to talk to the UDA folks to get the most recent version (I switched from Windows 7 to Windows 10 in the interim and the version I had saved on my computer was not compatible with Win 10. It took 2 calls to UDA to finally get what I needed. On the other hand when I needed to reinstall my Office Suite all I needed to do was log into my Microsoft account, deactivate the computer Office was associated with, download the latest software, and reinstall. I didn't have to communicate with Microsoft staff at all. Same for my Autocad/Revit software and my Adobe software. That said the last person at UDA, Cydney, took ownership of my issue and in about 5 minutes I had resolved my issue.

Recommendations to other buyers: First and foremost make sure the software does what you need it to do. It is better to have more capabilities than you need then not enough. As I stated earlier I am using it for non-construction projects currently. I just have to ignore the construction portions (i.e. lot information, dimensions, etc) and use the other aspects of the software. If you are trying the evaluation software, I would suggest picking one of your real projects and entering the project into the program. That way you are using your data as opposed to looking at the sample data. So this will give you a feeling of how well the software meshes with your operation.

Comments: We are a General Contractor in it's second generation, formed in 1959 by my father. We do both residential and light commercial work, renovation, and new construction. When I got out of college in 1983, and made the decision to come back to work with my father in the family business. I spent 5 years working in the field. Back then all estimating was done long hand on paper, with some use of estimating books like RS means, as well as a gut feeling for the work to be done. I knew if I was to move the company forward, I needed to be more effecient and precise method for accurate estimation. After convincing my father that we needed to computerize, I started researching software. We started with DOS based programs that had estimating, report writing, documents, and bookkeeping. The estimating had the 16-division CSI format, which I was familiar with because of work I had done with architects. This system had a built in database that I could modify and add to and job costing to track actual cost against the estimates. Mom learned the bookkeeping end, but I always did my own job costing to get the most accurate cost data I could, and created many of my own estimating items. This was a good system for 20 plus years. I knew that at some point I was going to have to modernize the system. When my parents retired and my wife entered the business, she immediately needed to run up to date accounting software. We purchase Quickbooks because of the referrals and high recommendations. It works quite well, although we were not job costing with it; I was still doing my own recording for my estimating. Even though she pointed out to me that I could estimate and job cost with it, it had no data base and the CSI format, so I had no interest. I new I wanted somthing similiar to what I was using but with up to date features. I started my reseach on software again, looking at the vast quantity of demos out there - there are a lot of them. Some had programs with estimating, and some with their own accounting modules and billing. Although we do some light design work, I wasn't interested in strictly estimating. We're not a track builder. I didn't want all new accounting software because of our comfort with Quickbooks. I came upon UDA Construction Suite through direct mailings or trade magazine ads. I looked at it several times over a few years, still looking around at anything I came across. I found myself going back to UDA to look again. I was attracted to it because of intergration with Quickbooks, CSI division format, built in documents, and now scheduling which I never had before. I knew that I would be able to create my own data base from years of costing with my other system, but it included RS means cost book which I thought would be real handy for items I may not have. I also needed to stop doing my own data-entry for job costing when it could be done with Quickbooks. I liked that it seemed to have more than I needed, so I could grow with it. Easy to use windows format with spreadsheets we're familiar with. We purchased the UDA Construction Suite Residential Premier. It had everything I was using before and more. Since I had my own data base for light commercial items, I felt we did not need the commercial version at this time. But the decision to buy was also based on the ability to upgrade to a higher package without completely rebuying software. All my questions I had up to making the purchase were answered. UDA really seemed to be a company that wanted to work for and with their clients. That by my making an investment in this, they would be there for me, and that this was a purchase that would work for me for years to come. Since getting the product, I've found it really easy to click around and learn on my own. The training videos that came with it, as well as the webinars offered on a regular bases, are great for showing what the software can do. Customer support is awesome - if I send them an email, the response is very quick. It is very easy to call them and talk to someone; I feel like I have my very own personal customer service representative. Being a small company and having to wear all the hats, it can sometimes take a while to make any transition. I have no doubts at all that as I fully implement all that this software can do for me, that UDA will be there to help if needed, making sure that I can get the most out of it. Definitely comforting that I made a really good purchase decision.

Comments: I am a small builder that builds large, very high-end custom homes, and have been using ConstructionSuite for nearly 3 years. I looked for a construction management system because I needed to integrate CSI pricing, manage the unique nature of allowances, and off-the-shelf, tailor-able specifications. I also hoped to find a fully flexible scheduling function; I got more than I hoped for. I tried some other construction cost management systems, but none of them are close in comparison to CS - in terms of functionality, ease-of-use, and reasonable cost (it is not cheap, but it is worth it). The product allows me to have automation in estimating, reporting, invoicing (including AIA Applications for Payment), and project scheduling. The easy, flexible structure has facilitated me taking a giant leap forward in management and presentation of cost and scheduling data. It also provides standardized documentation (contracts, other forms), which I honestly did not need, but many people would find very helpful/useful. Importantly, Construction Suite gives the option to use the CSI pricing structure (both residential and commercial), which is essential to better creating and managing budgets (estimates vs. actuals, CO's, etc.). The other products that do enable the CSI structure are archaic and far more expensive. It also has a Specifications function, wherein it uses standard CSI specs that can be opened and altered for each project. The financial functions save me hours on each invoice (specifically in the reporting that comes with invoicing). The structure, reporting, and schedules give me the presence to rival competitors that have 4 staff people to do what I do. The presentation and functionality that I now demonstrate, I believe, has been a big factor in opening doors to some of the very highest-end architects in the region. So not only am I more efficient and professional in how I manage my finances and projects, I do believe it is getting me more business. And once the project is underway, my budget anxiety has been greatly reduced, because I now have a very important instrument for managing budget, Allowances, Change Orders. Without getting into details, it also helps greatly reduce some of the budget difficulties with customers - they better understand what goes into a high-end home, and they have better assurance in how the budget is managed and invoiced. One other seemingly small but important aspect is that CS has a cost category for Allowances - I did not find one single other product that had Allowances such that they could be handled separately. On all of my projects, Allowances are a fluid cost that account for about 40%-50% of the overall budget, and you need to be able to separate those from the rest of budget. There is still one drawback, in that you cannot apply Allowance status to Change Orders, but I am told that will change in an upcoming release. Lastly - I have never had a software provider that has been so intimately involved with each customer. Even before I decided to purchase their "Total Care", the interaction was truly refreshing, and they have even taken the time to review and discuss every suggestion I have made. They have simply explained a rejection on some of the suggestions, but they have been receptive to constructive comments that will improve their products. (For example, the Change Orders to Allowances, as discussed above). The only 4-star rating I have given them is on "product quality". There have been stability issues and communications issues with Microsoft products. But they are phasing out the dependence on Word (already done) and Excel (purportedly in 2013), and that will provide some great benefit for performance. If you are a small or medium-sized builder, and want to present yourself to high-end customers, if you want to have more professional control on your projects, if you want to keep your QuickBooks but put it on steroids, and you undertake more than one project at a time, you will gain tremendously from CS. It is not inexpensive, but it is much more competitive than its competitors and it will pay for itself. I just hope none of my local competitors use it.

Pros: UDA is a great program to manage a project from the first lead contact to the Final inspection, when I have had a glitch or a question on the program total care has been really great with solving the problem or question. I really like the Job management capabilities UDA has the dash board works well and is easy to navigate.

Cons: the proposal writer is probably my least favorite option, I like the concept and how the proposal writer is set up however there is a big learning curve on how you enter it in the estimate portion especially if you pulling it from a assembly or the item data base as far as wording an item as to how it pulls it into the proposal I find I do a lot of editing. Also I wish you could chose to pull in a few columns such as allowances, or options and maybe a few other columns you can see in the estimate view next to the line in the proposal item like you see it in the estimate as it sits now you can only have them grouped in the allowance or option category at the top. I also wish there was a Specification integration button in the estimate, they have great sub contractor specification templates I wish you could modify these and save them to fit your company, so then you could click a button in the estimate and pull the specification up and edit and save it in the job and maybe even attach it to the line item in the estimate in the notes category. This is a big part of a job, the specification could be then sent from the job folder in a email attached to a PPF set of plans and be easily sent out, then some how integrate the returned specification and estimate to the job folder and line item. This would streamline the tracking of all theses items.

Recommendations to other buyers: I have bought several other estimating programs none of them do the job management as well as UDA. I hope they evolve more with the emerging market of digitizing and assembly formulas internally versus outside sources.

Comments: Our company is a family owned and operated organization. We specialize in luxury custom estate homes, and we are experts in waterfront construction. Typically, we build no more than 4 or 5 homes simultaneously due to the complexity of the projects, the size of our company, and the market size for this type of construction. After going through a fairly difficult economic downturn, things are starting to move again. From 2009-20012 we only built 1 home. In the past year, we have bid on several projects and we are currently building 5 homes ranging from the $500,000 range up to $3,000,000. I can directly credit the detailed proposal that we made using UDA Construction Suite with 3 of the 5 homes we are currently working on. Each of those three customers told us specifically that our proposal was so much more comprehensive than the other builders that were bidding on the job. One customer also said they felt more confident choosing us to build their dream home because of our attention to detail in the proposal and tentative schedule we provided. While we are not a big corporation, we are still competing with them and we must present our company in the most professional, competent manner possible. UDA Technologies Construction Suite has proven to be one of the most valuable investments we have made to help us achieve this crucial goal. In 2006, we started using UDA's Office Suite, since then we have continuously upgraded to the most recent version and we are currently using Construction Suite Pro. We also take advantage of the "Total Care" customer support plan. I must say, this aspect of the software has proven invaluable. The only "negative" thing I could say about the software is that it is somewhat complex and a little time consuming to learn. With that being said, the time invested in learning the software pays off ten-fold. With the help of the staff at UDA, the difficulty is minimized. Every single time I have called to get assistance with some aspect of the software, I have been immediately put in contact with a very capable and friendly technician who seemed genuinely eager to help me with my problem. I never had to press 1 for this or 2 for that. The technicians actually know the software, in and out, and are always able to quickly resolve my problems. They are not looking up the answer in a "help database" as they generally do when I call QuickBooks for technical assistance. UDA also holds frequent webinars that are free to attend. I have only attended two, but I will be doing my best to utilize this feature more often as I learned a lot from it. Thank you UDA! I truly believe your software and customer support has been instrumental in helping our company stay afloat during this painful recession. The software and the support plan have paid for themselves many times over - we couldn't be happier!

Useful and indespensible construction management tool.

Pros: ConstructionSuite is relatively easy for our staff to learn and use, as is the ConstructionOnline feature. I particularly like being able to make our clients a part of the team by connecting them to ConstructionOnline. We have clients who live in another city or state, and since the scheduling component was added online, we've had phone conferences with clients, and we've literally built or changed the schedule literally before their eyes. It gives them the assurance that they will be a part of the process. I also really like the logging tool; it has come in handy this winter, especially with the weather delay feature. As I learn to utilize more of the features of ConstructionSuite, I really appreciate all of its capability. The support staff and development team have also been a great resource, especially being responsive to technical issues and continually working to improve the functionality of the software.

Cons: I'm always looking for ways to save time and to be more efficient, so I find little things like having to browse for a file from the desktop location (on both ConstructionSuite and ConstructionOnline) cumbersome. It's a little better now that we can select multiple files, though. Also, I've been working more with the dimensioning tool, creating a template for project type to help with estimating. It works, but I can't say I like it because of the way you have to input it into that little window. If there was a dimensioning template in the OnCost/Excel format, I think it would be easier to use. I think part of the problem is that the formulas and inputs are all in this long list, and though I've tried to put the inputs on the top of the window and all of the corresponding formulas below, it causes confusion to the user, and they miss more. I would love to talk to the tech staff more about this feature. We are also still having intermittent issues with sending emails, especially with attachments, from ConstructionSuite. No complaints about the vendor. We've enjoyed working with them.

Recommendations to other buyers: Give it a chance and set up a training. If you are used to a different program or not using a program at all, there is always a learning curve. Also, call support if you are struggling, UDA staff is knowledgeable and willing to help.

Great product, great support, and great customer service.

Pros: The product was obviously created by people very knowledgeable of construction. It seems any way a person wants to do something, the program lets you customize. Yet the standardized parts and templates fit right in with common practices. When ever I have a question about anything, it usually can be understood just by watching a video. The few times I've called customer support, they are always real helpful without a lot of wait. Makes me feel good about my investment every time I get off the phone with them.

Cons: I haven't been using the product that long even though I've had it 3 or 4 years. I've been gradually transitioning from another estimating program purchased over 20 years ago. When times get real busy, I still find it faster for me to do an estimate on the older program only because I know it so well. So the only thing I think I can say that I like least about this product, and it's not the products fault, is that because it is so different from what I've been using for past 20 years, I find myself struggling at times with the learning curve that comes with having to learn any new software. It has so much more depth to it.

Recommendations to other buyers: Like anything in life. You get out of it what you put into it. So my recommendation is to be prepared to devote time to it. Not because it is difficult, but because it has a lot of features to it. And any person can't remember everything about it unless it gets used often. Something I failed to do soon enough. So that I'm still not getting everything out of it that it has to offer.

Comments: Environmental Design Inc. is a full service environmental consulting firm in business since 1995. We specialize in asbestos, indoor air quality, mold, and lead related professional consulting services, as well as conducting environmental site assessments. One of our many functions is providing our clients with detailed cost estimates, not only for our services, but for the overall project's remediation cost, typically performed by other contractors. We provide complete project oversight and the UDA Construction Suite really is a powerful tool that helps us do that. We purchased the UDA Residential Premier Suite which has made managing our projects much easier, more efficient, and way more organized. We got the suite in 2010 when it became clear to us trying to manage a large regional transportation contract with dozens of projects in progress at any given time just wasn't working in a timely manner with conventional Excel sheets alone. What the Construction Suite does it allows us to set up a project, assign contacts, and do a project schedule. We can customize cost estimate templates for each client, so our pricing structure, which is somewhat different for each client, can easily be turned into a proposal quickly and easily, or just forwarded in PDF. For our more complex projects involving contractors, we can track the project with a detailed Gant Chart, which we can send to our clients for use in MS Project, track payment applications, change orders, etc. Plus, I think one of the most useful aspects of the UDA Suite is being able to drag and drop files into the project folder and keep everything in one place so all of my employees using the suite can use and view the entire project in one place, even remotely via our IPads. I would highly recommend the UDA Construction Suite to professionals, like engineers, architects, and consultants. It is a great one stop way to organize your projects. For contractors like landscapers and builders, look no further, this product will make you much more organized and efficient, and the product you send to the client will be way more professional. UDA is easy to use, easy to implement, and easy to customize for your industry. Plus if you need any help whatsoever, just pick up the phone and an expert will walk you through your issue or remotely help over the internet. The UDA Construction Suite is not just for contractors doing construction, it is one of the best ways to do project management in any industry.

Pros: I like the way they do estimates and schedules as this works well for how I run my business. I put up with a lot of small annoyances with the functionality and the relatively slow performance because, having evaluated several other systems, I still found this one to be a bit better for my purposes.

Cons: For the most part, this is a good product, although syncing between the desktop and online apps could use a lot of improvement, as there are lots of differences in functionality between the two (the online version is more restricted, so you need to be wary of using some of the custom settings in the desktop version, as it will not necessarily transfer the date over to the online version as it tends to only use standard settings). My experience of the support has not been good. I pretty much always end up having to call, as my emails and support tickets go unacknowledged. I see lots of reviews praising the support, but I just don't see it, as that has not been my experience. It seems to take a long time from the marketing hype of a new product release to this actually being available to existing customers. Any improvements take a long time to work their way into production releases, and the updates don't contain any information to tell you what has actually been updated.

Recommendations to other buyers: Make sure you investigate beyond the marketing hype. Don't believe everything you read online and test test test before you commit.

Pros: For the longest time I had used a combination of programs to operate my remodeling business and came to realize how inefficient that approach was. Excel, QuickBooks, Outlook, and Word are great tools but there had to be a better way. I spent a considerable amount of time looking for a program that would deliver all of these tools in one format. UDA Construction Suites did that and even more. As I have become more acquainted with the program, it has a far exceeded my expectations. Even more important has been the support offered by this great team of dedicated technicians and instructors. Here is a great example: I purchased a new computer and had to transfer my program and files. I have a large database and needed help with the transfer. The new computer needed updates, etc and all of that was taken care of by UDA. Then, the new computer had a blue screen problem which could not be resolved so I purchased another computer which again needed updating etc. Well, here it is on a Friday night and after having over an hour of support earlier, I just got off of the phone with another support tech (at 6:45 PM EST) who made sure I was up and running for a busy weekend of estimating. That says it all right there. Whenever I call, even for the dumbest question, I feel like I am calling my family for help. No kidding; these guys and gals are that good!

Cons: That I can't keep up with some of their online products as they are constantly working to improve their services and programs.

Recommendations to other buyers: I think I said it all above, but try the trial and play with it a bit. It won't be long before you're ready to make the commitment. By the way, I have nothing to gain by writing this, and I am not one to write reviews. My professional standards are very high, and it is always a pleasure to meet other industry professionals who take their work as seriously as I do. Good luck.

Exceptional tech support!

Pros: We lost a server so had to reload our programs and rebuild our data. During this process our IT specialist was called away, though we were still in the process of resolving our issues accessing UDA. We called UDA tech support to walk us through everything, but the issues were clearly beyond our level of expertise, so their rep and his team ended up taking the reins to get us back up and running. His professionalism and efficiency gave us great confidence that we were in good hands during a very stressful time. He and the rest of the team have always been great to work with whenever we've reached out for help, but their top-tier service and competence when we were in crisis was highly appreciated and we can't speak highly enough of how they came through for us at a critical time.

The detail in ConstructionSuite was directly responsible for a notable increase to my net income.

Pros: The ConstructionSuite to QuickBooks link is probably my favorite component of the software. This link provides up to the minute accuracy with estimated costs vs. actual cost; we use this information regularly to perform job forensics.

The customization allowed in ConstructionSuite provides the flexibility to conform to my business processes instead of forcing us to conform to the software. The estimating templates are the core of the entire program, customizing these to our pricing and our items is how I substantially increased my net income after I had ConctructionSuite up and running.

The time invested at the product implementation has given us a fantastic return.

Cons: The interface is a little quirky in places. That is, the software doesn't always behave in ways I expect; usually these have been programming decisions instead of bugs, but they can be annoying. Thinking especially about repetitive tasks.

Overall: Greatly increased accuracy in my residential estimates that resulted in a significant increase to my net income.

Comments: We are a custom home builder on the Island of Kauai in the Hawaiian Islands with over 34 years of experience in construction, building, and cabinet making. We bring a broad area of knowledge to our clients projects. One of the unique aspects of doing business in Hawaii is that each Island is different with different challenges and most of our clients are part time or seasonal inhabitants. Australia to Russia, South Africa to Canada, each client brings one goal: they want the best, the most efficient, and they want it now. That is how we got involved with UDA Technologies and Construction Suite. Our client was relocating from Florida who lived in Canada and had purchased a lot on Kauai that they wanted to build on. They hired an architect from Honolulu, Interior Designer from Vancouver, consultants from Montreal and Jacksonville, and last but not least his Financial adviser from Toronto. They asked us if we could coordinate and build the home of their dreams with the assembled team. We said YES! Then spent the next month searching the internet and calling on the phone to find a software package that would allow us to deal with all of the issues and different locals and still work with their accounting department and financial people so that our cost and expense information was in a format they could work with. This was 2006, we took Construction Suite for a "test drive", kicked the tires, and learned the basics. And with Time Zones to take into account, there were many challenges our team had to face. UDA and their team are up to the challenge no matter what time zone you're in. Two very important items that UDA excels at is customer service, working to improve and expand the capabilities of Construction Suite, and update the cost book information so that your bids and proposals are accurate. In this customer's opinion they have mastered the concept of making one entry do all of the work thus eliminating the opportunity for what I like to call repetitive errors! Make a change to your schedule and the critical path makes all the changes for you, when properly set up it will inform everyone in your organization and involved in your project about the changes. If you don't own it you should and if you do you know!

Comments: We are a construction company in Ontario Canada. We are celebrating our 25th year in business this summer. In the past, we were using excel spreadsheets to do our estimating. We ended up with multiple master copies in the system often, as people saved their version as a new master. Finding out which one was the most current, and having to reformat the document was an ongoing problem. There wasn't a single source document to keep unit cost history, a list of prices from our vendors and subtrades, or their contact information, etc. We found ConstructionSuite through the internet as I was trying to find an easier way to do estimating. I used the trial version and found out it would be suited to our company needs. We discussed the change with the team and in September of 2011 we took a big step and purchased the Contractor version with enough licenses for the estimators and accounting. Since then, we have added more licenses to include all the divisions in the company. I worked with the program, learning how to use it, merging Quick Books contact lists, inputting some cost data and budget estimating information. We had to revise the standard forms and make them suit our company specifically. We had weekly meetings with the staff where they each learned their portion of the program. Working with the UDA tech staff made the transition quite painless and within 6 months we were ready to go live with UDA on a daily basis. The information passes between Quick Books and UDA easily and without error. The support staff were usually available when we called, and a very short time to wait for a call back if they were all busy. The on-line help while on the phone is a great way to work out the issues we have and be able to see how things are fixed. Now we are able to figure most things out on our own. After using the program for over a year we are able to be ready to present an initial budget to a client within 24 hours. We used to take 3 weeks to finish a budget. Being able to populating the divisions using dimensions makes it is easy to show a client what the cost difference would be between a 1000 SF home and a 1200 SF home. I have found this program to be a time saver and helps to reduce the possibility of error.

Great asset for any construction company!

Pros: CS has grown with leaps and bounds as the development and support teams continues to stay in sync with industry & client needs; from Estimate to end of project... CS has our team covered. We have had great support from the CS team from product use questions, updates, to customizing templates to fit our company needs. CS has become the hub for all of our day to day project and lead interactions.

Cons: I would like to see a more centralized location and auto sync between the field and CS... single access mobile app, a calendar that has a push notifications and follows more along with an Outlook feel would be helpful in tracking, scheduling and completing events / activities. When attaching email or texts from with-in CS a better log of who what , when in project history - can't really see what the log refers to once it is sent.

Recommendations to other buyers: There are many construction software products out there, we have demo'd A LOT of them and there are some good ones out there but none seem to pack the detail to so many of the features we feelk are important in running our company with detailed estimates, auto docs, accounting and lead tracking; we are able to run our business from within CS with seamless integration from stage to stage. The ongoing development and updates paired with the support team is what is most import in implementing any new software... and UDA provides that.

Comments: I am a General Contractor in Brooklyn, NY after having been a builder in the Syracuse, NY area for over thirty years. As a builder for over forty years with a Masters in Construction Management, I like to think that my approach to construction projects is organized and well managed. This iteration of my company, now six years in the NYC metropolitan area, is predominantly engaged in the renovation of residential townhouses and doing very sophisticated architectural detail work. I had used UDA Construction Suite for a number of years prior to arriving in the city, and it always provided a high level of organization in preparing bids and managing my projects. Now that I am working in an environment that is both much more competitive, and infinitely more complex, Construction Suite is indispensable in preparing and managing my projects. From the extensive spreadsheet based estimating, to the integration of up-to-the-minute data on materials, to the ability to post and manage projects online, it's all here. As in all of my major purchases, I do a lot of homework before making a decision. That was the case before I signed on to UDA Construction Suite. From my first phone call for information on the Construction Suite package, it was clear that these folks had their act together, and understood my needs. All of my questions were answered, but most impressive to me was that there was absolutely no pressure to purchase until I was comfortable with the value that UDA would bring to my company. Once I did sign on, UDA technical support made the process of installing and configuring the software a snap. As time passed, through many iterations of the software, version revisions, and new functionality, UDA support has been right there to assist and answer any and all questions that I might have - working through issues and always checking in with a follow up call to be sure that my problem has been resolved. In my organization, UDA Construction Suite is a "Best in Class" package that definitely contributes to our success. In my humble opinion, this is the best Construction Management package out there.

Pros: UDA Construction Suite an extremely powerful and diverse software. I have been using the software for five years and I still have not fully utilized all the features. Construction Suite seamless integration with QuickBooks is a huge timesaver for my construction business. Setting up projects once they are awarded, creation of purchase orders, tracking actuals, creation of schedules and tracking change orders etc. The preloaded templates are excellent in creating proposals and contracts. Another aspect of UDA that I cannot speak more highly of is the entire staff. They are friendly and extremely helpful in resolving any technical issue you encounter. The product development team have done an excellent job with enhancements to the software over the years. They understand our needs as construction professionals, they ask questions, and they listen and implement the suggestions from their customers.

Cons: I can honestly state that there is not anything I dislike about this product. Or the team members of this company.

Recommendations to other buyers: Take the time to learn and utilize the features built into this product. You will be amazed of depth.

Great Product. Steep Learning Curve.

Pros: I appreciate how professional the staff are and the way the product looks to clients. I appreciate the efforts UDA has put into providing links to their webinars and their training videos on YouTube. Their technical support is invaluable.

Cons: There's a steep learning curve to using it, and it does not help that UDA is constantly changing their system. It took me a long time (several years) to familiarize myself and set up my database and templates from versions dating back to 2007 or so. This year, when I was required to update to a newer version because my 2011 version was not supported anymore, I ended up losing a lot of data and functions that I finally had dialed in to my system, and now I am backpedaling and having to re-learn new things. Sometimes, when I am in a support session with a tech, it doesn't inspire confidence in the sense of the software's user-friendliness when they seem to struggle finding a location, knowing why something functions in a certain way, or knowing why it's set up that way. It would be helpful to have a linked directory of keywords to search the video training series. As it is now I find it time consuming and cumbersome to wade through several training videos to find an inkling of relevance to a topic of a problem I'm trying to figure out. And sometimes, that is made more difficult by me not being able to describe technically the facts of the type of problem I'm having. So being able to search a database using keywords would be a good start.

Recommendations to other buyers: Allow a significant amount of time to learn the ins and outs of the program, to make some mistakes, and to be okay with making those mistakes.

They make big promises, and fall flat on their face.

Pros: The beautiful user interface. It looks good. Their videos are professional. But, BEWARE: When you start using it, you'll be unpleasantly surprised... buyer beware!

Cons: It does not do what it promises to, and there are dozens of annoying quirks.

If your decision hasn't been made, let me say: DON'T DO IT! I made a serious mistake when I bought UDA. While they have a beautiful user interface, there are some serious flaws under the hood. Some are major things, and some are very minor annoyances that will drive you nuts. "You mean, I can't do THAT with UDA, but I can do it with any other basic software out there?" was a common comment running through my head.

Some examples.

1. Their spell checker creates a squiggly line to tell you that you have a misspelled word, but, doens't allow you to correct it.

2. The spell checker lets you add custom words to a dictionary, but, it can only use one dictionary at a time to check spelling. So the default dictionary gets used, and your custom words still show up as being spelled wrong!

3. You can't select-copy addresses, in order to paste them somewhere else.

4. Using duplexing on my printer doesn't work right. It works for every other software I own, but not in UDA.

5. There is a bug in the WIP date range that doesn't pull accurate data.

6. "Options" in the estimate show only cost, not margin. So if you show your customer that report, you are revealing cost info, not selling price!!

7. You can't import a PDF into bid notes, even though the premise of UDA is to try to make it a single repository for all your information.

Overall: They might tell you that these things work, but, after spending MONTHS with UDA, I found out that these problems are deal breakers.

Within their customer service department, the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing. They do not use a structure such as Zendesk that so many other great companies use. Even though I was paying for priority support, there were often days going by where I could not get a call or email back to assist me with a support request or provide a tutorial on how to do something. Had I not paid extra for support, this would be acceptable. But when paying for "TotalCare" priority support, there are times when the software had me stuck, and I was stuck for a day at a time waiting for an answer. Sometimes no answer ever arrived.

I hope this helps someone avoid the pain I went through!

Recommendations to other buyers: 8. You can't use the arrow key to browse photos in UDA. You need to close, and click into the next one. No inuitive functionality. 9. The estimating module separates material and labor, in ways that create a very confusing Scope of Work. You need to select the labor item from your database, then separately select the material from your database. You end up with two line items in your Scope of WOrk for the same thing. Instead of writing, "Supply and Install a new window" you have "Supply a new window" and then "Install a new window." It's hard for my estimator, and confusing for my client. 10. UDA will WREAK HAVOC on your contacts in Outlook. 11. It does a terrible job of managing husband/wife or partner/partner situations. You can't mail merge them properly, or, you get forced into combining their contact into into a single contact-- and then how do you know whether the cell phone is his or hers??? 12. There is no good way to credit design fees against the construction contract, if you happen to use that paradigm for your contracts. 13. There is no way to filter contracts by their date created. So, how do you find your newest contacts for entering them into something such as Constant Contact? 14. If you try to use integration of Quickbooks and UDA, your ITEMS list in QB will either get expanded to hundreds or even THOUSANDS of items... or, your PO's in QB will get created in a summary form such that they are virtually meaningless.

Comments: I have been a UDA subscriber for many years. I can't be for sure, but I think back on projects in which I used the software for estimating and I have to think it has been nearly 7 years. Either way, the program was in it's infancy because it was primarily a spreadsheet with a few of the enhancements now available. The integration with QuickBooks was important to me and all of the items I use for job cost accounting came directly from UDA items. I added many sub items and have a place for every cost in my home construction business down to the hardware and nails. The legal documents from UDA are the basis for my Construction Contracts, change orders, and all that I do. The scheduling features are a dream come true since my estimate is structured in the order of construction processes. When I create a schedule from my estimate, I just need to adjust the predecessors a little and I'm done! I have referred several builders from Nashville to your company and did so with confidence knowing that they would find your software a sensational "track to run on" during the process of operating a construction company. The truth is, someone with a good knowledge of your product and QuickBooks simply needs to add some financing, a few men, and machines to be off and running their operation. A discussion of UDA would not be complete without a sincere statement regarding the high quality professional staff who answers the telephone and directs questions to helpful personnel. The vocal quality and intelligent speech of the UDA staff sets a tone of confidence that means a lot to me. After some initial questions, either the person who answers the phone takes me through the necessary steps to find a solution, or I am promptly routed to someone who would be a specialist for my particular need. UDA is an important part of my operation. In a very real sense, we are business partners and I truly appreciate your dedication to helping me as you are continuing to improve and expand the services you provide.

Pros: The format matches the work we perform and can be customized as needed. I tend to get "overcreative" at times with what i ask of Construction Suite and end up clicking on the wrong thing and causing a problem with the system. It is usually always my fault. The techs have always been able to bail me out. They have always been straight forward with me and tell me when they don't know what has happened, instead of wasting my time, they reach out to other techs to help resolve the problem quickly.

Cons: The only downside i can say after working with Construction Suite for several years now, is everytime is really get tuned in to where everything is, they issue a new version. I know and can see that it is always for the better, but you asked for something, so having to learn a new layout every year or so would have to be it. In saying that, they have always improved it for the better.

Recommendations to other buyers: Be patient, watch tutorials and call for help. They will talk or walk you through on your desktop to show you what you need.

Pros: The Vendor, the support is 2nd to none. Every time I call in it seems like everyone remembers our company and is extremely helpful. The software , with each update , it seems to get better and better . I have been using the software for many years, I had switch to another company years ago which was more expensive and couldn't do the things this CM software does. I ended up switching back after 1yr and have never left.

Cons: I wish it integrated with outlook, construction online when the job is done , that I could download the log book , and photos into a job site log file. I also wish that there were apps for my windows tablet, the apple and android apps are awesome. The Job costing still needs a little work, and a searchable feature would also be nice.

Recommendations to other buyers: The value and cost of the software are the best in the market place. The amount of stuff that you can do with the software is mind blowing , each time I wish the software would do something, I do a search in the software and then I find out that the software can do it.

I like it, But there are allot of things that do not work as well as you are told.

Pros: Having the estimating produces a proposal and schedule from the estimate. Project work flow is a very valuable tool, Launching the items inside of work flow is very smart thing.

Cons: There is no training on how to set up a estimate to move into proposal smoothly and than a schedule that you can use. You have to understand that the estimate needs to be set up just so, so you can get the proposal to work well and the same for the schedule. Nothing has worked yet for me that I can sit the settings and just go with it, without allot time spent editing the proposal greatly and Schedule. The proposal could use more options to choose on adding or removing parts of the estimate to give more flexibility to how the proposal will read. There is allot to be desired on the integration with QuickBooks. Contacts do sync well and allot of the contact info does not sync. The reports in suites have never matched up with Quickbooks reports for me. Does not have a good invoicing system that well work well with QuickBooks. Project files in suites is a very slow file. UDA needs to work out the flow on how things react to each other when you do something in one part of the program and how it will react in another. I use both Suites and Online parts of one program works better than the other program. I would like to know how other people are using the program.

Overall: Using the estimating with proposals and scheduling is the most important parts.

Pros: I am a new user for construction suite and have been learning your SW for last 2 weeks. Integration of all aspects in one platform. Ability to keep all data in one place and access through one interface. Customer service is easily available and they are eager to help and answer my question.

Unlike some of the other reps who wants to get me off the line as quickly as they can address my concern or question, They want to make sure I completely understand the issue and take time to show me features and functionality of the system. I feel very comfortable to ask her multiple questions and always receive knowledgeable answer. There were at least two times where I was feeling overwhelmed with complexity to the point of quitting integration where after talking to her it all made a lot of sense.

She is a great asset for your organization and an example of superior customer service that have helped to keep us as a customer.

Cons: Still new to the software to critique its functionality. the only thing I can say that it was like drinking from a fire hose at first. two weeks into it, it starts make sense and looking easier and easier.

Overall: One platform for all your construction related needs

Pros: I feel the ease of use and lack of a "learning curve" make this software stand out from the competition, but my favorite thing about UDA Construction Suite is the support. We call anytime we need deeper understanding, or want to know "how can I..." and the helpful friendly staff is eager to teach me a new tip or show me how to get more out of the software.

Cons: Bugs. All software has bugs. And I do not enjoy running into bugs. But, when I do, I contact UDA support staff, tell them what I am experiencing, and they get working on a fix. Updates come quickly and often as they are constantly working to make the software better. It is really amazing how quickly they fix things.

Recommendations to other buyers: When looking for a project management suite, we compared price, scalability, learning curve, among other factors, to the competition. Then we took a test drive with the trial software, and we were sold. You can compare cars based on prices, looks, mpg, etc but when you get behind the wheel you really get to know the car. For us UDA was the best "drive" out there.

Comments: I'm a working project manager and have owned this program longer than I've used it. There was a learning curve. It can be hard to implement new methods when one is out of energy after working all day. When I started to take advantage of the tremendous power of Construction Suite, the results were amazing. I am not a fast typist, so any time I can avoid entering information is good. The Total Care team and the online support kept me on track as I learned how to customize the Estimating Module to my sequence of work. Once you get this program setup, estimating becomes vastly easier and less time consuming. When the estimate is ready, a few clicks lets you turn out a proposal that is totally customizable and looks like it came from a professional printer. That presentation makes a huge difference when you are sitting across the table from a potential client. As the job progresses, Quickbooks integration makes job costing reports that actually mean something available. Which means more accurate estimates next time. The Scheduling module has made it possible for me to accurately tell my customer how long their project will take. Delivering a project on time - even knowing how long it will take - is a recent concept for me. When you can deliver a job on time and know where you are as you go along your value goes up exponentially. Now I'm learning to import data from drawings I've made in Envisioneer directly into the estimate. The thing I'm most impressed by is the UDA customer service and support. I've called in many times over the last few years and actually talked to the same person many times. They know their stuff and know how to communicate it to a person that is not an IT expert, and how to maintain patience even when it must be the seven hundredth time they've had to explain it. I could not be happier with a relationship.

Comments: I really enjoy this software.

Pros: I use it for just about everything in the office, from estimating, to scheduling, to proposals, and to contract documents. It has such a wide variety of uses and I do not think I have even tapped into any of it. It is very handy and a great tool to use if you are a general contractor.

Cons: It can sometimes be slow when opening up documents and it is hard to learn at first, but after you get the hang of it, it is easy to learn new things.

Pros: Job costing and items. Big giant spreadsheet / database. Once the database is filled after some jobs you can job cost and get item by item if you want estimate vs. actuals'. We looked at several systems, tried several and ended up with UDA because of the QuickBooks integration. We tried Jetstream and Co-Construct. Both worked well for their nitch. Jetstream was pretty good, just not polished enough for what I wanted, plus didn't integrate well for job costing. Co-Construct was extremely polished and was more user friendly but geared for client communications more then job costing and a suite. UDA started from the database and is expanding with construction online and mobile features. Where as a lot of the others had the communications but lacked in the data and accounting side.

Cons: Big software suite. There is a lot of information to put in and extract all based on what you need. It is geared more for larger companies with office staff.

Recommendations to other buyers: Works well with QuickBooks. You don't have to learn another accounting program.

With the help of investors, we are seeking to engage in high density residential development utilizing sustainable building methods and materials. I had the opportunity to try out UDA many years ago as I sought to improve a previous employers professionalism and estimating. I observed the archaic methods he used to create estimates and write proposals. I thought about the time I was a member of the NYC Carpentry Union, and I recalled how professional the large scale companies operated. I observed scheduling and critical path diagrams, seeking to make my employer more detailed/professional. I wanted to find out how the big players conducted business, so I googled construction management software and sampled a good number of them. I found UDA to be the most comprehensive and complete in all aspects of managing a construction company. I soon discovered why my boss was losing money and I recommended the program to him. I've since worked for a number of employers, and have informed all of my opinions on this fantastic software. After completing my degree in Construction Management and forming my own business, I knew the only choice for me was UDA. I feel confident that in using UDA, I'll keep all the bases covered for contracts, proposals, estimates, scheduling, etc. What more can a contractor ask for? My one con is the program appears to freeze at times. I have been so pleased I've accepted the minor drawback and chosen to ignore it. Perhaps I'll call in and ask; tech support so far has been fantastic. Thank you UDA for helping me realize my dreams.

I made a user error that resulted in my need for help.

Pros: The ease of use and great support that UDA offers. We are a small home building company 25 to 35 homes per year. UDA is the right tool for our size of company.

Cons: With a production office in KY (UDA) and a central accounting office in WI (QuickBooks) it causes issues and extra steps that when a PO is created in QuickBooks for a job that PO can longer be seen in KY with UDA only in WI with QuickBooks open

Overall: Better cost controls for more accurate pricing of our products

I find UDA ConstructionSuite easy to use and the learning curve is much less than anticipated

Pros: This is a one-stop- shop program. There is everything a business needs to do its day to day work. The reports are customizable to suite any company / department needs

Cons: I am unable to print the estimate sheets to appear on one page without a lot of customizing. I am having difficulty adjusting to the estimate not being Excel based

Overall: Easy estimating with lots of options to prepare reports for various uses. The terminology is easy to understand and this program is very easy to navigate

Walked me right to the solution, step by step. Awesome service as usual!

Pros: All items I need are in one program. I can set up, track, estimate, bid and pay all from here. It's like having an assistant in itself. The customer service is TOP NOTCH! Get the best customer service plan you can.

Cons: Some minor limitations with the QB integration, but you get used to those. Make sure that you manage your templates, and lists often. It will not read your mind on new material costs updates.

Overall: Consolidation of multiple programs into one.

Pros: I have used several different "Construction database software" products over my 30+ years. This product is the first one that I have found that most definitely had extensive input from contractors when the software was developed. Whatever information you might need and/or wish to track, it can easily and intuitively be entered into this software. And I mean pretty much anything. It also syncs with QuickBooks. So you end up not only having a sophisticated estimating, job tracking, scheduling, and management side of the business at your computer, but one of the best accounting systems available as well. The customer support is unbelievably friendly and knowledgeable. You can most always get to a party that can answer your questions within minutes. In addition, the numerous YouTube help videos get you up and running quickly.

Cons: Admitting that I am a little anal retentive, I wish they had a spinning circle or an hourglass on the screen when something in the software is loading. Honestly, that is it.

Recommendations to other buyers: Be sure you try the 30-day free trial before purchasing. It may be a little time-consuming, but you won't be sorry you spent the time in the long run. We purchased different software based on a demonstration by a very skilled speaker, without trying it for 30 days, and after a year of frustration and extensive cost, we ended up choosing UDA. Essentially, we wasted a year.

Comments: ZSR Construction, LLC is a residential and light commercial construction company that has the capability of completing all facets of building, whether it is an addition, custom home, historical renovation to store fronts, or interior renovations. My name is Shawn Reshetar and I recently joined my son Zach who started this company a little over a year ago. My past years were spent building large custom homes and I had purchased UDA software, so it was a no-brainer to get the upgrade to Residential Green and get Zach up and running with a software package that will give him a competitive advantage. We chose Green because we are both certified solar installers and I had been the first builder in our area to build certified green homes back in 2007. The ease of use and the option of support is well worth the price. We feel much more confident in our estimating and scheduling control because of the ease of access through construction on-line. Working 10 hours a day as a small hands-on builder, it can be tough to find the time to learn a new software system. We have found that UDA is based on common sense and similar to a lot of other software that we were already familiar with like Excel and Word. Although we still do not use the advanced capabilities of the system, we feel that we will in due time. Some slow, rainy day we will use one of the on-line seminars to pick up some more insight and keep building our knowledge of the system. Having all this information available to us anywhere we go makes us more confident in our own capabilities. My favorite saying goes "Excellence is the residual result of continual creation and improvement". UDA surely attributes to this being possible.

Overall very favorable. Easy to use, great functionality.

Pros: Integrates well with Quickbooks. I like that everything... estimating, scheduling, proposals and contracts, are easy to use and linked saving precious time. The software support is excellent: all very friendly and knowledgeable staff who provide timely response to issues.

Cons: Experienced some glitches, but issues have been resolved in a timely manner. Their software is better than most that I have tried.

Pros: UDA ConstructionSuite is so so easy to manipulate! I had figured I would spend nearly a week getting familiar with it before beginning to really start creating estimates using it. This software is definitely user friendly! I was creating estimates shortly after installation. I had always done my estimates the old fashioned way, with a pencil, paper, and a calculator. That is definitely a thing of the past! I started to fall in love with this software within hours of experimenting with it. Getting familiar with the project management components and the software's seamless communication with QuickBooks only compounded our companies appreciation for UDA. We have saved many hours of estimating, cost tracking, material calculations, change order tracking, etc. This program makes me feel like I have been living in the Stone Age! I am excited to see what this software does for our company in the long haul!

Cons: What I don't like about this software is that it isn't marketed better! This software should be more visible. With the chance of our competitors purchasing this software and me losing my edge, every company should use this UDA ConstructionSuite.

Recommendations to other buyers: Don't evaluate or compare other software. You'll be losing production time. Buy UDA Construction Suite and start saving time and start making more money!

Comments: You need to try this software to truly evaluate its value. Don't take my word for it. See for yourself.

Pros: It integrates with Quickbooks and provides a great way to track clients, provide estimates, and keep clients informed about the progress of the job.

Cons: I don't know of any other than it offers so much customization that you need to really become familiar with all of the various options available to you.

Pros: The endless possibility's to taylor it for individual needs of various trades. As an estimator for a high end custom home builder I deal with many different designers and trade people. So it is important not only to present the numbers in a clear and logical order, one must provide a clear and easy scope of work for the various elements that go into the proposal. This product allows me to accomplish this to projects of various sizes and scope of work. So as every estimate is individual. (not boiler plate). Many of the architects and clients have commented on this fact in the competitive bidding process.

Cons: Some of the predefined templates that you can not customize for visual effects

Recommendations to other buyers: The webinars and training videos make learning the software effortless I highly recommend viewing them.

Comments: HISinc Design & Build is a general construction company that has been contracting in the Hospitality industry for over 35 years. We are a turn-key operation from design, build, purchasing, remodel to grand opening. Our company purchased UDA Construction Suite in 2003. and they have been improving and keeping up with the times making our life easier and easier ever since. The integrated system is a perfect match with our accounting system. Their program sure beats having to spend hours developing our own excel spreadsheets. One of the best features of their program is how easy it is to learn and use. I have tried many estimating programs in the past. Some that cost a lot more than UDA but UDA out performed all the other programs, hands down. I won't even waste any more money trying a different system out. I only gave "ease-of-use" a three star, but a lot of that has to do with me being too busy to actually teach myself. That's why I gave the customer service a 5 STAR, they show me once and it's done. It's that easy. The last thing I would like to talk about is their Customer Service. Every time, and I mean every time, I call the customer service for help they have always been there for me. They are always polite, courteous and happy to talk to you. Not once did they make me feel rushed or like I was bother to them. Also, I love the fact that they can link into my computer and physically show me how to do something or fix a glitch. Thank you to all the staff at UDA Technologies for always being there for me, and a special thinks to Elizabeth who seems to be my main phone support when I call in, "you make me laugh during stressful times".

Comments: Powell Architecture + Building Studio is a boutique Architect led commercial design and building Firm, whereby we are provide a unique service to our clients - offering full design and construction services but with the emphasis (and a philosophy) based on quality design. Our Architectural Studio has been using QuickBooks since we opened 7 years ago and we were looking for a Construction Software program that would allow both the design and build entities to fully integrate, while continuing the focus on design. We established the construction firm portion of our services 4 years ago and spent several prior months researching various Construction Software solutions. We purchased the software and also enrolled in the UDA customer care plan - so we use the latest updated software and have the team at UDA available for support whenever needed. Implementation was easy - the program is very intuitive. In fact, we have expanded our construction management staff and the new staff has taken to the program very easily! We purchased a second seat license, on-line, and the UDA support staff was very helpful in assisting us in syncing the two work stations. I have called the UDA Support staff whenever there was a question and they have been very helpful. We plan to continue subscribing to the monthly service. Their use of the Fast Support system, whereby they remotely manage our computers for support and corrections, has been a tremendous help. Our firm has developed into one of the most recognized in the Nashville, TN area, and I believe the UDA software system (and office support staff) has played a foundational role in our success.

Pros: Detail that I can provide to my clients, sellection of variety of columns, facility to use, multitasking and sharing facilities

Cons: That I can not make payments applications using the same detail, meaning been able to add colums with formulas

Overall: Clients love the detail, although I have to export to excel to add columns and formulas to do payment applications so we can mantain the same format as the estimate.

Pros: I probably call UDA Support more than anyone... I am beginning to know people on a first-name basis and I'm sure they know who I am, yet every time I call, I am always greeted and treated like it's my first time calling! A huge thank you to the customer service rep for her level of support, patients, and professionalism. We are 100% satisfied and glad we chose UDA!

Cons: I think it would be good to invest more 1 on 1 time with clients initially to help get them off the ground.

Pros: The fact that it stops me from making mistakes. I had several painful experiences using other software and spreadsheets.

Cons: Having to do takeoffs with another software package like Plan Swift. The estimate should be archived even if deleted, mistakes happen.

Pros: UDA Construction Suite is constantly making changes to stay relevant and competitive. The customer service is fantastic and has a lot to do with why I recommend this software to my builder clients. In addition to Construction Suite having a number of functions (i.e. estimating, scheduling, pm documentation, online platform) it is also affordable which is key for my smaller residential construction companies.

Cons: The Quickbooks to CS integration seems to be one of the more complicated aspects of the software; though this is likely more of an issue on QB's end. Integration with time tracking software, such as Harvest would be useful.

Recommendations to other buyers: Try out the free trials for UDA and other competing software to see for your self. Make sure you have vetted the various programs for compatibility issues.

Pros: They are always welling to help. If you have a suggestion about what you would like to see changed or explain a problem they are welling to make the changes.

Cons: I would like to see more you tube videos on work flow. Ex: When you are user with Quick Books and intergrading the UDA software with QB, such as setting up a new contact or estimate, change order, all the things that UDA does as a integration to QB. Seeing the flow and understanding the things you need to do to help make the system work as UDA intended. Would save a lot of time. I say this because we have found out some things that QB can not do because the information needs to be inputted correctly from UDA into QB or it will not function as intended. So having a clear understanding on what you need to do inside of UDA before syncing is a time saver!!

Recommendations to other buyers: Watch the you tube videos. As you do you will have questions in your mind that you may be able to find in the videos to help you make a more educational decision.

Comments: An agent from UDA has been extremely beneficial and first class as far as Customer Service is concerned. She has helped us understand the MANY great things that this program has to offer my business. No matter how big or small the questions We may have, Cydney directs Us through our problems and understanding of this product professionally. She has been a pleasure to work with!

Pros: It handles all of the rigors of Owning and running a General Contracting Company! It is like having several more employees with just a few clicks of the mouse.

Cons: I wish it had the capabilities to do takeoffs within the UDA Construction Suite platform. If this process could be established, it really would be your one stop shop for all of your Construction estimating needs.

Comments: I am the estimator for a mid-sized general contractor on Cape Cod. We have been doing anywhere from $8-$12 million dollars in business per year. When I first started with the company, I was working from excel sheets that I had developed over the years, and .pdfs from vendors and lumber yards etc for materials pricing. As I am sure we have all experienced at some point in our estimating careers, I found myself becoming more and more of an excel programmer than an estimator, and as the projects became more complex so did my estimates. It got to a certain point where the time spent reviewing the formulas in excel and checking for programming errors became so tedious that a change was needed. We spent the next couple of months reviewing many different estimating platforms, some of which I have used in the past and finally settled on UDA technologies. What a difference it has made in time savings for me (I get to go home on the weekends!) and increased accuracy in the estimates. The quick transfer of information into proposal form, and the endless customization options in that module, make for a great experience. I have been using the software now for almost a year, and while it is great and I wouldn't think for a second about going back to the old methods, I have found a few areas (all be them minor) that could use some improving. UDA Technologies has been receptive to my requests to work these additional functionalities into the software, the support team has been very helpful. They are just a phone call and remote log in away. Overall I am very happy with the UDA technologies estimating platform.
