Cons Not being able to set or format the page to how I would like to see it. Reason for choosing Dronedesk In first instance cost but once we started using it we found the interface easy and the information output was excellent and reduced our planning time. June 4, 2020 5.0 Many alternative systems were trialled before the permanent switch to Dronedesk was made. I find the user interface, reliability of the system and also the way it can be personalised can not be rivalled. I have always found the assistance offered by the support team to be exceptional too. Overall finding a new flight planning system was daunting, however this not only replaces the old system with everything that is required, it provides even more comprehensive information that saves a lot of admin work. The service has been approved by both administration and also active pilots. Pros We have integrated the service seamlessly into our everyday business. It's extremely easy to customise and the customer support has been exceptional. I find that the overall efficiency of the service is superb. Cons None - With the exceptional support offered by the service any additional requirements have always been met with ease Reason for choosing Dronedesk Soarizon did not have such a user friendly user interface, and consistent 'bugs' while the customer service offered by the company was good, I found that continuously being advised things would get resolved without definitive information made it difficult to use. This used up a lot of time and made the service unreliable, something that made using the system from an administration perspective, and user perspective frustrating. It would be great to add a few features into the flight planning process. For example, we can add a flight area, but adding a 30m radius for take off and landing would be useful, particularly in urban environments. Would it be possible to port it into an App? As we’re mobile operators, it would be useful to have an app on the iPad for example. Pros The various views to see the jobs were excellent. In particular, I love the pre flight checks aspect, it is quick yet in depth and literally ticks all the right boxes. It’s easy to navigate and is feature rich, so I’m enjoying using it so far. Cons The adverts. Guys, I know google ads brings in revenue, but they look awful and are distracting from the software. The ads are there to help support the free public beta version of Dronedesk. When we come out of beta there will definitely be an option for a paid subscription with no ads! Did you know that when you drop a take-off and landing point icon on your flight plan, it automatically adds a 30m, 50m, 150m and 500m radius around it to help with your planning and risk assessment? And also, if you access Dronedesk on a tablet or phone, you'll be prompted to "Add to Homescreen". Doing that will place a shortcut on your device and launching Dronedesk from that shortcut will open a version that looks and behaves almost exactly like a native app would. MP Matt P. Before using this I was using several different bits of software paperwork and things weren’t very well organised. It took a little bit of time to set up and tweak according to how you wanted it to look but once organised and set up the average job only takes 30 minutes to an hour at most to set up. I can thoroughly recommend it as a must-have for any drone operator looking to grow their business. Pros Planning and risk assessments are so much easier using Dronedesk. Because it has been designed by an experienced drone operator, everything you need - or should be doing - is there, ready and easy to access. Automatic linking with Airdata simply sorts the chore of flight. Flight plans and reports are comprehensive and easy to share, for example when submitting NSF requests on NATS. Support is excellent, video tutorials are easy to watch and support queries are always quickly answered. Cons It is a very comprehensive product to learn, so this isn’t really “cons”, as there are excellent tutorial videos and a Facebook group with lots of help if you need it. But it is worth taking time to watch the tutorials so when you start using the system, you get it right first time. Pros It combines all of the necessary functions for carrying out commercial drone operations in one place. I haven't found another software package that does this. Cons Whilst anyone using DJI products has an almost fully automated post-flight process, this is not the same for other product makes e.g. Yuneec. Looking at all flights, without accessing a particular job, is not easy and so I still use a separate program for recording flights. You can sync logs for Yuneec, Parrot, Freefly and Wingcopter drones as well as for apps like DroneDeploy, Pix4D, Litchi and others. Also, please have a look at the flight report in Dronedesk "Reports > Flight logs". It allows you to review flights by date, pilot and drone in a couple of clicks. You can also export the report to PDF or Excel for analysis and CAA reporting. And To have client details stored securely. The checklists are a great way to remind one to what needs to be done and to be able to do the risk assessments right on a tablet rather than take printouts. No more wasting paper so it odd help the environment Cons I wish there was a dedicated Desktop app. Having the address bar at top of the website is the only draw back. I’d like to have it open full screen. Having the option to make it a web app on my iPhone is awesome as it removes the address bar but I wish there was a way to replicate this for my Amazon fire tablet (which I plan to use as my on site device) and also my Mac for planning at home. So unfortunately I haven't used their planning software much as I'm worried when I come to renew my Pfco the caa won't accept my method of using drone desk as it is not what I stated in my ops manual that they accepted! I've contacted \[SENSITIVE CONTENT HIDDEN\] a few times through Facebook and email and always had great customer service and he is always friendly...He even helped me out with a non drone desk related topic involving Photoshop and my logo!! - Still much appreciated and in use today !!! I used the function for finding local businesses and it worked fantastically well. Saved me lots of time searching for email address on websites and using Google maps. Cons The ability to print off reports ( I'm still old fashioned and like to have paper copies) just incase for whatever reason the site was down etc. I'm not sure if this is already a function however I couldn't see the option. Also a offline capability app (on Android for me ) would be great for when on site and no internet is available. It's okay to be old fashioned, Dronedesk caters for that too! There's a print button at the top-right of the manage jobs screen that enables you to export a nicely formatted job pack to PDF. You can even configure which job sections you want included (in "Profile > Settings > Manage job sections"). So you can save that PDF offline and even print if you really want to! And just to reassure you Tom, the CAA are more than happy to accept Dronedesk as a the stated means to run and record your drone operations. In fact, I removed a huge amount of stuff from my Ops Manual before renewal and just referenced out to Dronedesk. It was approved in just four days with no problems. JH Jason H. As an all -in-one solution to build our client database, monitor projects / jobs, create pre-flight checklists / reports, maintain logs etc it's a fantastic system and improving all the time! The fact that we can now auto-import logs from Airdata saves so much work and us such a valuable addition. I'd love to be able to provide the lead generation facility for free because I think it's a great tool to help you very quickly build a list of potential leads. Unfortunately Google charge us for calls to their API and the charge we make for credits allows us to just about recoup that cost. The big advantage over just trawling Google yourself to find leads though, is the massive amount of time you save - it'll generate a list of 60 leads in just a couple of minutes.
