you can see the real-time utilization of the resources and visualize the charts which help you to identify the problems in early stage. You can setup the alarms based on your required criteria.

Cons

The CloudWatch dashboard is a little complex for beginners. You should have a basic knowledge of AWS to use CloudWatch services. You always need expert's help to understand the cost.

### "Effective for Metrics and Alarms, but Log search needs some improvments"

In overall, its not bad because its 'pay as you go' and some free tier for basic monitoring. We are utilizing lots of alarms to monitor specific metrics and notifications when it hits its thresholds. Also we can create customized dashboard showing all metrics in real time.

Pros

Most useful and great feature for our use-case is Logs and Metrics. We been using those features since we deployed lambda/ECS/RDS. It is cost-effective and good integration with all other aws services.

Cons

especially for log search, its almost useless. There is a function, "Search all log streams" in Log events and when I type some strings in search bar, it always show nothing in results even though logs has that strings. Also, it takes forever to search some strings in log events

My experience with CloudWatch has been positive overall. I mostly use it while investigating issues, checking application logs, and confirming that services are running as expected after changes. It's become one of the tools I instinctively open when debugging because it provides the information I need quickly. While the UI could be more intuitive, it's a dependable monitoring platform that integrates well with AWS and does its job well.

Pros

CloudWatch has been really helpful whenever I need to troubleshoot issues or verify that a deployment is behaving as expected. Having application logs, metrics, and alarms in one place makes it much easier to figure out what's going on without jumping between multiple tools. Since it's part of the AWS ecosystem, it integrates well with the rest of our infrastructure and has been reliable in day-to-day use.

Cons

The interface isn't always the easiest to navigate, especially when trying to search through a large number of log streams. Some features also have a learning curve when new to AWS, and it's easy to lose track of log retention and costs if they aren't managed carefully.

Overall, there's better monitoring software out there. The dashboards are not visually appealing. I would like to see more cost transparency. I do like the integrations with the other AWS services like ECS and WAF.

Pros

I like the integrations. For example, the integration between AWS ECS and memory utilization CloudWatch alarms. Another example, I like the integration between CloudWatch insights and WAFs logs. That is helpful.

Cons

AWS has great services, but CloudWatch isn't one of them. It is noisy, and cannot mute scaling instances/containers automatically. There's better monitoring/observability software out there. Also, CloudWatch is probably one of the more expensive AWS services out there. I would like to see more transparency on where these CloudWatch costs are coming from. I do not like the dashboard prices. Visualization isn't sleek.

I did not choose CloudWatch. I ended up picking a different software for monitoring. CloudWatch was too bulky, ugly, and expensive. I use CloudWatch for a couple of use cases, but most of the monitoring is done by another vendor.

Cons

There is a quite large learning curve, and easy to get lost in the configurations of the alerts you want to set for your services

Great tool to use to have default metrics for all aws resources and also flexibility to create custom metrics. Really like how it has the logs insights options to query logs in a sql like query and debug issues fast.

Overall experience is good, since all operation happened on AWS will have logs in amazon cloudwatch system.

Pros

All our aws monitoring dashboard are built from cloudwatch, all lambdas, KMS, RDS have cloudwatch logs, you can turn it on for each operation can check what happens for that operation, it is very easy to use and learn how to query what you need.

Cons

Again, I think they should introduce new AI powered tool to help you find what you need from millions of cloud watch logs instead each time I have to select log group and construct my query to find my data.

CloudWatch Alarms are highly configurable. When Any thresholds are breached sends Notifications that enable quick response to an issue. Seamless integration with Aws services

Cons

CloudWatch Pricing structure can become confusing and expensive especially when dealing with high metrics, logs and alarms. Dashboard are customizable but built-in visualization are so basic.

Here’s a more relaxed version: Overall, I think CloudWatch is pretty solid. It’s good for keeping track of things and works well with other AWS stuff. The learning curve and pricing can be a bit annoying sometimes, but it gets the job done and helps me stay on top of things.

Pros

A centralised Dashboard to view and monitor all of my resources from one place. It is easy to set up Cloud Watch with multiple AWS resources, such as EC2 instances, ECS instances, and RDS database instances.

Cons

Some of the advanced features, like custom metrics, took a little while to figure out.

Easy to integrate with AWS which is extremely useful in managing those deployments (my main use case). The real time monitoring features are also extremely useful.

Cons

I would be weary if working independently and using AWS services as a whole. I have had personal experiences with over charging for resources that I hadn’t used.
