Highly specialised software skills are not required for those in the field. At the back end and for the administrators/tree managers, the software provides great outputs and insights with the delivery of urban forest metrics and easy management of works required for contractors and inhouse staff. Cons The software works very well, there has been a lot of consideration regarding its development. Inspections and works are easily scheduled, risk is monitored, planting lists are generated, stumps are automatically created, and watering is monitored, tailored to our requirements. Overall an excellent product. Pros As an organisation we looked long and hard at the different systems being used in other Local Government Municipalities and it became very clear/obvious early on, that Forestree was easy to use. It is a credit to the developers of Forestree as to how flexible and accommodating they are working with both our IT department and arboriculture staff to achieve and meet our specific requirements. The system is constantly evolving and as it currently exists today is only the beginning of what it will become in the future. Cons At this point in time any issues that were identified have been auctioned and fixed or are in the process of being addressed. To comment any further would be disingenuous. No report writing necessary - data is captured live. The platform could also be used to gather more detailed inspection notes and work recommendations on challenging/complex trees. To assist in this process, some adjustments could be made to create larger fields (more characters) for inspection notes and work notes. Then the ability to produce individual reports on these trees would help council staff in discussing the job with team members, managers and decision makers. It also helps if an individual tree requires planning consent for recommended works to take place. Pros Easy to use. Quick. Good map interface when inspecting trees. Cons Limited character space when entering detailed inspection notes and work notes. Not all trees required detailed nots, but some trees do. Unable to add species names when in the field. Unable to generate individual tree reports when detailed assessments carried out. Significant tree should be called regulated tree. Variable use of terms between different Local Governments. Its likely your access as a contractor is limited by your client (maybe have a chat with them about increasing your permission so you can add species in the field and generate reports. This is a testament to the brilliance of the software and its designers. I could not imagine going on about my daily duties without having Forestree, it has made tree management a pleasure. Pros The easy of use, rolling this out to the teams, new employees and contractors, this is easily picked up with all users in my experience. The information this captures and collects is also impressive, along with scheduling inspections, and assigned works this product is extremely helpful. Forestree has dramatically improved efficiency in my work group With not only tree management but team management also. I found the watering page, planting page and projects equally impressive in regards to how easily it has improved workplace systems.
