Pros Rapid deployment of similar devices; would have to be chief among the PRO's. Commissioning a site with 300 similar VAV's takes hours not weeks! The process to replicate and create graphics is dead simple and extremely easy. New features are being added all the time and the tech support is best in class. Cons While customization is very possible it's not necessarily geared for the every day user. These are minor complaints in an otherwise great user experience. Pros Once you get up to speed, like learning to ski, it is enjoyable and powerful. Cons Being an older engineer, gaining experience with web based programs and javascript takes more time than if you just used the software for simple applications. The software can be simple to use but if you want to use its full potential, you need to dedicate some time to it. In general the developers behind the tool have been much quicker to adapt to the cutting-edge data driven models that provide more value for end users. Pros This product comes from a team of forward-thinking industry insiders with a wealth of knowledge and experience into the tool sets that integrators need to deliver a turn-key building automation system and user interface. FIN 5 already incorporates the latest in project Haystack tagging standards and has features to allow users to efficiently tag and relate their databases as they build their projects. It has an extensive feature set for users to program schedules, sequences and alarms as well as commission and build graphics for their building systems. It can be customized to do just about anything, and their support staff is quick to assist when needed. Cons The context-based user interface takes some getting used to when building graphics and the UI, but once understood it is straight forward. As with any building automation system software, the features are numerous so it does require proper training to use and setup a system with the tool, but it's modern design and template-friendly structure is easy enough for anyone to learn. Pros Many useful tools that are built-in and rely only on the data model and Haystack tagging. Includes many powerful visualization tools to build custom dashboards. Cons Documentation on advanced features is lacking. I think there could be more "automatic" setup of graphics for common systems. For instance, if there is an AHU tagged in the database it would be nice if the software could automatically build the graphic based on the points found in the AHU then let the user make changes. It looks like there was an effort in this direction but needs improvement.
