"Powerful shipping logic with enterprise‑grade flexibility, but priced like a monopoly"

**Overall:** We adopted ShipperHQ primarily to enable live LTL freight quoting at checkout, and it has fundamentally changed how we sell and support freight‑only products. Presenting accurate freight rates upfront has improved customer confidence, reduced friction during checkout, and eliminated a significant amount of internal effort previously spent manually quoting shipments for customers. That shift alone has made shipping operations far more efficient and predictable. At the time of onboarding, it was difficult to forecast how much value this functionality would ultimately deliver, which made the cost harder to justify initially, but with experience and thoughtful configuration, the platform has proven itself to be a critical operational tool. While it requires careful planning to stay within plan limits, ShipperHQ is reliable, stable, and extremely capable, and it enables shipping workflows that would otherwise be impractical or impossible to run at scale.

**Pros:** ShipperHQ is incredibly powerful and flexible, and it’s hands‑down the most comprehensive shipping configuration tool I’ve used. It can handle extremely complex scenarios—parcel plus LTL freight, geo‑restrictions, address validation, multi‑box products, dimensional packing, PO Box blocking, business vs residential surcharges, and more—with a level of precision that simply isn’t possible natively on most ecommerce platforms. The UI is clean and logical, the documentation is thorough, and the BigCommerce integration is exceptionally deep (to the point where ShipperHQ adds fields directly to the product edit screen, which is rare for third‑party apps). Live LTL integration works flawlessly in the U.S., and even when a limitation exists (like unsupported live LTL quotes for certain Canadian carriers), their implementation team has been willing to step in and build table rates at no cost. Once configured, the system is very stable, accurate with dimensional packing, and reliable over the long term.

**Cons:** Pricing and plan limitations are the biggest frustrations—ShipperHQ aggressively nickel‑and‑dimes for features, with hard caps on carriers, origins, rules, and “advanced features,” all of which are only fully unlocked on expensive Enterprise plans. Some features feel arbitrarily classified or double‑billed (for example, in‑store pickup counting as both a carrier and an advanced feature). They’ve also reduced functionality on lower‑tier plans over time, including removing plans entirely and lowering carrier limits, which we only discovered after hitting a limit that wasn't supposed to be there and contacting support. Costs also scale poorly for merchants running multiple storefronts, as ShipperHQ requires a separate paid plan for each store rather than offering any kind of shared or multi‑store licensing—something that can quickly become cost‑prohibitive for some setups. Shipping discounts or promotions are locked behind Enterprise plans, forcing merchants to discount products instead of shipping. While the software itself is solid, extracting full value without constantly upgrading plans requires creativity, deep understanding of the system, and sometimes working around “official” usage paths.

**Switched From:** [Advanced Shipping Manager](https://www.capterra.com/p/10030066/Advanced-Shipping-Manager/)

**Reasons for Switching to ShipperHQ:** We switched from Advanced Shipping Manager after struggling with its crude UI, limited feedback, and poor ergonomics for ongoing edits—basic actions like adding a carrier didn’t even clearly indicate whether authentication succeeded or failed. While ASM has many positive reviews, most seem aimed at set‑it‑and‑forget‑it stores that rely on support to configure everything once, which didn’t suit our operational needs. In practice, ShipperHQ was the only viable alternative capable of properly supporting our mix of parcel and LTL freight, address‑based logic, and complex restrictions, and despite the cost, it remains effectively the only tool that can do what we need at the level of polish and reliability required.

Thank you for such a detailed and honest review. We're glad ShipperHQ has proven itself as a critical tool for your freight workflows and that live LTL quoting has made such a tangible difference. Your feedback on pricing and plan structure is heard and appreciated and it's exactly the kind of input that helps us improve. We look forward to continuing to support your team!

"An awesome software with dependable support"

**Overall:** I'm content with ShipperHQ. We did almost stop using it due to upgrading our Magento platform. We were told by our 3rd party vendor who are Magento developers that the incorrect estimate shipping is cause by the ShipperHQ app. However, I was able to figure out the real cause and stablize the checkout issue on our website.

**Pros:** Being on the IT technical side of business - I am comfortable with my way around software and configurating different 3rd party vendors to sync with our system. Whenever I do have an issue, SHQ has always given my issue the needed attention and seriousiness to resolve. Always had a sincere support from their team.

**Cons:** The learning curve can be too much for the non-technical user. I wish their online guide wouldn't be so general. As a business, we have different apps that runs our daily operation. As i'm sure other companies have differnt apps as well. Would be great if the guide are actual steps someone did instead of a quick run thru that sometimes does not work due to some specifics. But the guide does not mention that.

**Reasons for Choosing ShipperHQ:** From ShipperHQ's website, it seems like they're more of a software focus company and really know their product. Whereas the other companies seem to have more of business model and are selling services more than the software itself. Been with ShipperHQ for years now - a content customer here.
