This is the one feature that is the reason I keep using it. Cons After using iCloud for a while, the only con I can think of is that your storage fills up quickly. I regularly move between my iMac, iPhone and iPad, and having the same files available everywhere makes that process much easier. I use it for storing and managing documents, sharing files and keeping work-related data synchronized without thinking about it too much. Even signed PDFs and other important documents are easy to keep accessible from whichever device I am using. For an Apple-based workflow, I think the overall value is very good. I have rarely needed customer support because the service has generally worked reliably for me. Pros The best part of iCloud for me is how naturally it works across my iMac, iPhone and iPad. I can save a work file on one device and continue with it on another without having to manually transfer anything. File management feels simple, sharing documents is quick, and there is almost no learning curve if you already use Apple devices. It removes a lot of small steps from my daily workflow. Cons Storage management could be a little clearer, especially when backups, photos and work files start using a lot of space. Sometimes it takes a bit of checking to understand exactly what is consuming storage. I have also seen occasional delays in syncing, but they have been rare and have never been a serious problem for my workflow. Would probably rate it higher if we were an Apple first shop. Pros or staff who are on Apple devices, iCloud just works the way you'd expect. Photos, contacts, and files stay in sync without any real effort on their end, which is nice from an IT support perspective because it's one less thing people call about. The file sharing through iCloud Drive has gotten a lot more functional over the last couple of years and for personal document access it's genuinely smooth. I feel like it is a very good way to store information and files so that you are always able to retrieve them. I feel like there it’s a very simple application to use with minimal learning curve required. I personally have not had any issues with icloud that required customer support. Cons The main issue I have with icloud is that I don’t feel it’s a great value for your money. I personally do not like that you have to pay a monthly fee to store any more that a small percentage of items. The cost for more iCloud storage is very small however paying a small cost for the entirety of your life seems ridiculous to me. Cons The fact that the free space is limited to 5gb of free for all shared devices is a very little, specially since the device backups are stored in icloud. Never had any issues with iCloud before and I will continue to use this as long as I can. Pros I love the way that I can easily store my information and share my files that I have saved and know that they are secure. It was not a learning curve at all. Since I got a phone I’ve always used Apple and I will continue to be a portal customer. I’ve never had any bugs or issues with this application. I’ve never had to reach out to customer support. I love that I can easily add my signature digitally without needing any paper. We pay for the family iCloud storage and the price for what we get is extraordinary! Limited storage and cumbersome sharing cause a dip in productivity for a small agency that's mostly operating in the digital realm. If you're all-Apple all the time, works! Otherwise, you will be forced to work around all the time. Pros For personal use the 5GB free tier is good. Syncing my iPhone to Macbook is quite dependable, site visit photos appear on my Mac within minutes of taking them. The shared folders feature works well if you're coordinating campaign assets with freelancers, but we've been more successful with other platforms when we have to do more intensive collaboration. Cons Versioning can be a pain with presentations that are being edited by a number of people. Last month I lost 3 hours worth of changes to my deck due to someone's changes overwriting my deck. When you do want to share documents and files, it works well (but do keep an eye on windows implementations). Pros File management is smooth and painless, especially with Apple devices: your photos, documents and passwords are stored in the cloud and instantly accessible everywhere. With the addition of a small app, this extenders to windows. Zero learning curve for iPhone and Mac users: it just works. Cons Windows app is still a little buggy (recently files were not uploading, and the app didn’t reply me why - I had to do a lot of digging to see the reason was I had changed my password and needed to update it). It is well integrated into all services in the Apple account, which makes it of high importance. Uploading and downloading files from it is similar to using the phone's memory drive in terms of speed and efficiency, and maybe ICloud is a better choice to keep things backed up. Having sufficiently available storage for the free subscription is great. And it has no bugs or technical issues since I started using it. In addition to that, the file sharing and sending feature is so useful. Cons Overall, it is doing great, but I can not find a workspace connected to it that works with the best efficiency, so, for example, the default Apple apps are useful but not with the best customisations. Removing old devices from my AppleID and iCloud account has given me security reassurance given I no longer have some old Apple devices to hand. Cons Wish it was simpler to disable photos being shared on iCloud from my iPhone to Macbook as it uses up valuable storage space.
