GOAT makes your life easier, and it will be well received by everyone in your organisation, especially your Board. Pros GOAT is very easy to use - I set it up myself within a day. It has the functions I need, and I am not paying for functions I don't need. The GOAT team support for me directly and through regular updates and subscriber meetings. The system is growing and improving all the time. My Board love the reports. It has made my risk management so much more efficient. Cons I don't have any cons right now - it does what I want, and I could not be more satisfied. As a bit of a beginner, there may be things I want, but the team have been more than willing to my needs and finding ways to meet them. The product is simple and has a great pricing structure which helps a small organisation like ours. Transition and implementation from our old risk system was really easy. The staff at GOAT are always helpful and friendly, and they respond to queries really quickly. We couldn't be happier with our choice. Pros It is so simple. Huge plus for us. Its a 'pick up and go' product that needed very little training. Reporting is quick and easy, which was a chore with out previous system. We are very happy as an organisation. Cons Nothing major really. Some tweaks such as a click to a square rather than a drag on the matrix could be useful? General functionality is great though. Pros The intuitive nature of the system itself, the almost instant implementation and great in built tools for users to learn. This coupled with the responsiveness of the GOAT team for any issue and the way features and improvements can be suggested and discussed, means it feels like they are a partner in the Risk Management team rather than just another software vendor. The fact that they manage to deliver this level of service for such great price really is a testament to the organisation. Cons Very little as the constant improvements seem to resolve most issues. For example risk review dates were a bit clunky but GOAT took on feedback from clients and redesigned this to give much more granular control. Much simpler than other overcomplicated systems we considered. Pros Very flexible solution that can operate as a standalone risk management system without requiring integrations to other systems. Excellent customer support throughout and great value for money. Cons Because there are lots of areas you can customise, sometimes it's difficult to remember where all the different settings can be configured. But customer support are very quick to advise so this doesn't matter too much. August 9, 2022 4.0 We have found GOAT to be a useful, cost-effective tool as we are maturing our Risk Management program. Pros Overall the tool is very easy to use and implement, especially for small to medium-sized organizations looking to "get off spreadsheets" and manage and report risks in a more automated fashion. The tool allows us to create multiple Risk Profiles specific to our organization's requirements. For example, we started with a risk profile for our franchisee network and are planning on additional risk profiles for other areas of our organization. Each Risk Profile allows us to create/assign specific risk items to that profile. The tool provides standard risks, and also the capability to create risk items specific to our business and operations. We are able to create and assign objective criteria for Likelihood and Impact. There is guidance within the tool on what to consider for this criteria. In our case, we customized the Likelihood and Impact definitions so the risk assessment respondents could move from subjective to objective risk assignment. By placing these on the Heatmap, our teams have a great visual of the risk ranking. The Dashboard presents a great visual and overview of the Risk Profile. We are able to assign owners, create controls, KPI/KRIs, and document actions taken on specific risk items. There are standard reports available in a .pdf format which makes it easy to create and share information on the Risk Profile. Cons The standard reports are a great out-of-the-box solution. And yet, we are finding the need for some custom reporting to support the requirements of our Senior Leadership team and other stakeholders. We recommend that individual Profiles should ideally contain no more than 12-15 Risks, but appreciate that subscription costs increase in line with the number of Profiles being created! And the standard reports are really useful!Personally I like the "Trend and Executive Summary" part as this is what I use in my reporting to the board and owners. Support from the vendor is excellent. They respond very fast to any question or issues. Cons It does not include a archive function for closed risks. It is important to also have a overview of risks that is sorted/mitigated during and not at least in the end of a year. I was able to provide clearer responsibilities, understand the risk status in context and perform regular assessments minus the files’ pursuit. Cons When it came to scheduling risk reviews, there was a problem of flexibility of calendar rules. This created a challenge of automating quarterly reviews that are usually not done at month ends, causing me to continuously check review dates more than planned.
