Cons Setting up class parameters can be tricky if there are multiple types of classes. It creates a high level of transparency for our class placement process to allow for our values to shine through. By removing hidden aspects of the process, our staff trust our placement process. Pros is incredibly easy to use, it shows a great visuals that communicate the placement rules and characterstics in a easy to use manner. I also love that tactile aspect of it with the "name cards" Cons Currently, I would love to see SIS integration. The best thing about Class Solver was that it could tell us at any point which criteria were met and which weren't. That gave the administrators the confidence to be able to report back that all students were placed with at least one friend and to be able to answer to parents as to which requests were met or not met. It also enabled us to see when conflicting requests made it impossible to be able to meet all criteria, which saved us a lot of time spinning our wheels. The school administrators who were responsible for the class shuffling felt like they had been given their summer back. Pros Once we put in all of the criteria, provided a solution in seconds. We were able to clearly see which criteria were met and which weren't and the boost feature let us tweak the results. Class Solver is extremely flexible and we loved the way it let us set up our own characteristics to use to form the classes. Cons As with any powerful software, there is a learning curve, but it really took us a very reasonable amount of time to be up and running. Review Source TS Thomas S. Being able to see and sort each class list on all the attributes that we've loaded into the system has been great, and the integration with Powerschool was very handy. I especially loved the Boost feature, where it would adjust class lists one swap at a time, and the fact that it flags conflicts when admin moves a student helps everyone make the best decisions for students. Loved it! Pros It saved countless hours for teachers, and gave them peace of mind that any last minute changes over the summer wouldn't destroy the carefully crafted class lists they'd created. Cons Occasionally the website would be a bit slow to load. It also took a bit of setup the first time, especially training teachers on how to use it (it's very user friendly but teachers are busy people), but it will get easier every year. Every question I had was answered within 24 hours with wonderful detail and specific to my individual problems. The product could sell itself but the service made this program rise to the top! Pros Teachers have the ability to add friendships and separate from peers that encourage poor choices. When students are moved to another class, flags appear if there is any problem with the new placement. It really saves on a lot of headaches and misplacements. If it was not friendly user for teachers, it would not have worked because I would have faced resistance among the staff. I loved that we took decisions with data/evidences. Cons The email was sent to teachers in English, and there is no option to use it entirely in French. Additionally, I really wish I could export the sociogram. Another feature that could be adjustable is the 'weight' of characteristics in the puzzle. At times, I wish certain characteristics would all end up in the same group, while at other times, I prefer to balance them among the groups. November 12, 2020 5.0 I feel that this product is a must if you want to have a professional system for organizing and placing students each year. The amount of different ways you can view lists and student characteristics is helpful and the database storing student information is so helpful for anyone reviewing the lists and making decisions. The ease in which you can sort or switch students was helpful and a feature we used often. We were completely satisfied and look forward to utilizing this again each year. Great product. Pros This software took the place of our antiquated self-created spreadsheet system and made student placement organized, efficient and successful. As one of the largest K-8 districts in Illinois, we were able to work collaboratively between grade levels and ensure that parent requests or other special requests were honored and archived for years to come. We usually spend months working on placement due to the spreadsheets not meeting our needs, this year, ClassSolver changed all of that, it was user friendly and our representative from the company customized it to meet our unique needs of being center schools. The best purchase I made all year! Cons I honestly can't think of anything that we didn't like about using this tool. Any changes we needed to make due to the size of our building and district, our representative helped us think it through and then customized to meet our needs. Reason for choosing Class Solver Once we looked and did the demo for , it met all of our needs. There were also positive reviews on principal/education blogs that held a lot of weight with our decision. We reached out to those school districts and asked them their opinion and that solidified our decision.
