It makes it easier to train new hires. Cons I wish there was more AI integration and easier record keeping functionality. It can be tedious to search for the data you’re looking for. Retail and Purchasing Specialist Maritime Used the software for: 1-2 years ### "Shopify POS Works Great with 3rd Party Apps" October 22, 2024 4.0 Overall, we are able to find work arounds for most issues and eventually we get things working. The convenience of the Shopify POS App is sometimes overshadowed by a need for 3rd party apps, and lots of time fiddling around. A major plus is that most issues that I encounter are issues for everyone else too, so I can usually find my answers in an archive somewhere. The bad news is that some issues have been around for years and are still not resolved. For instance, the month-end inventory snapshot sometimes takes up to 2 weeks into the new month to show the month prior. Pros I love the ability to integrate our online store with our brick & mortar location. Before Shopify, we had to put in every order twice to capture the online sale. Now it's simple to manage our products both online and in store. Cons It doesn't have the ability to do Weighted Average Cost (or any other costing method that isn't FIFO). Additionally, Shopify POS doesn't have any report to track adjustments made to inventory-- you must go into each individual item to view adjustment history per item. There's no way to track bulk adjustments made in the inventory screen. We use 3+ apps just to make Shopify POS work as a normal POS should. Also, I believe that the CFO was under the impression that Shopify could work with Weighted Average Cost -- we might have gone with something else if she'd known that it does not! Switched from [QuickBooks Desktop](https://www.capterra.com/p/212058/QuickBooks-Desktop-Pro/) Quickbooks POS informed us all that they would no longer be supporting their POS system and that sent everyone into a scramble. Shopify was presented as a partnered alternative with many incentives to make the switch to them. We're a non-profit operation with a small brick & mortar store and an even smaller online store so it seemed like a good fit for us! Review Source Raphael F. I was able to learn how to use it without much help from anyone else on the back end. Pros This was a very easy to use POS system that I was helping a friend navigate with her small business. It was pretty easy to use with the e-commerce platform and was great for sales. Cons The cost was higher than what my small business friend wanted to pay for her, well, small business. I would say the downsides are more so when the internet connection isn’t great which can cause some issues and disruptions to processing. Pros I liked that Shopify had everything you need to see on screen. Making it easy to view transactions and what was scanning up before processing it through. Cons I had problems sometimes with items scanning incorrectly or taking a while to process transactions which made it quite slow.
