Well-documented Java container that resembles popular alternatives such as Apache Tomcat. Pros I used Jetty in developing Java server-side code to support the implementation of a universal authentication plugin for Android/iOS mobile clients. I enjoyed the simplified deployment and installation of the server which consists of only placing a WAR server archive file and executing it. Jetty can run in a standalone or embedded mode which makes it really flexible to include it in Java development platforms such as Maven or Eclipse. Servlet execution is easy to realize in Jetty (similar to Apache Tomcat). We used to develop the Servlet classes in Netbeans and copying it to the WEB-INF/classes folder in Jetty which resembles the deployment strategies followed by other Servlet containers. A very smooth learning curve if the developer has used other Java server containers such as the reference J2EE server or Apache Tomcat. Cons The HTTP engine takes some time to load the respective HTML/JavaScript code. Sometime a server restart is needed to load the HTML/Javascript documents.
