Imagine paying $84 per month for 5,000 conversions. When you exceed that limit, they don’t stop the service but charge you an overage fee. For example, if you go over by 1,904 conversions, you’ll be charged an additional $95. So, you end up paying $179 for 6,904 conversions, which doesn’t make sense when they offer a plan for 15,000 conversions at $150. In contrast, with Integromat (Make), they stop the automation once the allocated usage is finished and prompt you to upgrade to a bigger plan. However, Convert API doesn’t offer this option or stop the subscription, leading to unexpected and unreasonable charges. Pros As a frontend engineer i was given a task to convert the given files to particular format without losing any data so for my task i used convertAPI for the conversion. I checked lot of products but i feel convertAPI supports more formats than any other software. The good thing is you just need to call API that convertapi provides to you for the conversion which makes it is easy to integrate Cons For free version convertAPi gives you 250 free conversions with limited formats available. I would not recommend doing business with a company that doesn't put the terms or limitations of their plan upfront. It was a massive shock to me to come in on a Monday to find no conversions had happened all weekend when I had only used 23/250 of my free credits. Pros I liked that it was easy to use and had a Zapier integration. Cons I signed up for the free trial which states you get 250 one-time conversions on their website. After 23 conversions, my account was ended and I was told I needed to upgrade to a paid plan. There was absolutely 0 mention of a time limit on the free plan when signing up. I ended up switching my project to a competing service that offered the same services for a fraction of the price.
