I no longer need to call on a multitude of API's to achieve results. Pros I developed and currently manage cloud-based enterprise business software that requires the ability to manipulate and convert files in realtime. In order to fulfill this requirement, I had to integrate multiple API's since each API was only reliable in certain use cases - until ConvertAPI.ConvertAPI has handled all of the use cases with ease - Pdf repair, Pdf optimization, Eml to Pdf, ocr... and many more. Now I can streamline my integration and just use one API - ConvertAPI - for this requirement.It is easy to connect to and has the added benefit of temporary file storage, simplifying the ability to do multiple tasks efficiently.Highly recommend! Cons At some point I will need to be able to generate thumbnails from images/documents. I have not verified if this is possible yet. If it is not, it would be a great addition down the road. I would not recommend doing business with a company that doesn't put the terms or limitations of their plan upfront. It was a massive shock to me to come in on a Monday to find no conversions had happened all weekend when I had only used 23/250 of my free credits. Pros I liked that it was easy to use and had a Zapier integration. Cons I signed up for the free trial which states you get 250 one-time conversions on their website. After 23 conversions, my account was ended and I was told I needed to upgrade to a paid plan. There was absolutely 0 mention of a time limit on the free plan when signing up. None of those 3 services were able to offer the same level of reliability as these guys. This is a complicated business considering that web technology progresses rapidly and such service should be up-to-date with the latest web browser features to render pages correctly. Our business also requires that the service is available 100% of the time and is able to handle a large amount of concurrent requests while also being fast. ConvertAPI checks all those boxes for us as we've been depending on it to do all of what it's asked for anytime.I'd especially like to point out the quality of support and documentation. The setup is easy to do with the help of documentation alone and they provide libraries for the most popular programming languages. During business hours the support chat response time is under a minute and those answering the chat have outstanding technical knowledge. They've shown great dedication to solving our issues and suggesting workarounds for complicated edge cases. Any internal bugs and inconsistencies have also been handled within a day. With ConvertAPI we can convert those .docx files to .pdf for our customers. It has just what we need. Before using ConvertAPI we had custom solution for document converting. It did it's job, but it wasn't perfect, because sometimes it sort of corrupted files and after conversion, no pdf reader softer could understand document's pages (it was like one huge page). With ConvertAPI we didn't have any type of problems and it did it's job way better than our custom solution. Pros First of all we didn't expect to have such easy integration. ConvertAPI's documentation was perfect, so we didn't have any questions while integrating it to our CRM system. Second benefit of ConvertAPI is that it gives great product for a great price. We didn't think a lot when we found it and just became their customers. For it's benefits we couldn't find anything better. Third is that when using ConvertAPI, while converting .docx files to .pdf files, we could offer overall better solution for our customers, because almost every customer of ours uses our automatic document generation solution for their contract, commercial offers, invoices and other documents. Cons It doesn't have anything to dislike specifically. Maybe it would be perfect if it would convert a bit faster. It doesn't take long to convert, but sometimes, when you are in a hurry, it gets a bit irritating when you need to wait just to get one document. But it's not like you need to wait few minutes. We like that ConvertAPI keeps adding more formats and without much change in our code base we can support more and more file formats. Pros ConvertAPI was really easy to integrate and ConvertAPI can handle >95% of our format needs. Conversion quality is really good because they are using a native application in the back. Best part they constantly adding more formats and improving performance. Setup was super fast, implementation inside of Zapier took no time. The free plan let me really test things out. We use it to convert multiple documents to PDF in a complex dual in parallel Zapier implementation - which allows us to send documents and invoices in PDF formats to user. Pros It just works and works and works and works ;) The free plan let me really evaluate whether this solution would work and be reliable for us and with it being Zapier compatible it made everything much much simple. Easy setup, nice dashboard, good support so far. Cons Honestly so far not much of anything. Imagine paying $84 per month for 5,000 conversions. When you exceed that limit, they don’t stop the service but charge you an overage fee. For example, if you go over by 1,904 conversions, you’ll be charged an additional $95. So, you end up paying $179 for 6,904 conversions, which doesn’t make sense when they offer a plan for 15,000 conversions at $150. In contrast, with Integromat (Make), they stop the automation once the allocated usage is finished and prompt you to upgrade to a bigger plan. However, Convert API doesn’t offer this option or stop the subscription, leading to unexpected and unreasonable charges. They have access to the latest technology and are experts in the field of data conversion. One of the main benefits of an API service provider is that they are experts in their field because they have special training for a specific type of task. The ConvertAPI PDF export API is an example of this - they can convert almost any type of file from one format to another. We use the pre-paid plan which allows you to use credits for using the service at any rate you need and not have to worry about fluctuations in usage. E.g. we are not charged a monthly premium when the service is not used. The resulting PDF files are accurate to the original source and the API allows an easy connection and retrieval of the file. Support is very often quick to respond in the rare case of an issue. Cons On rare occasions we had problems with getting a response from the service but support was quick to respond and followed up. It would be good to have more options in the statistics and reporting part of the control panel. We use it to convert several files from different sources and formats, especially word files that It can be tricky to develop a working solution locally.Also, to merge pdfs is a good tool, we are using to merge various pdfs with different versions and even some signed pdfs.About the service, we find the demo page very useful as it let us to test the api, get the necessary code to implement the integration, and also debug conflictive files or make a single conversion.
