Best tax tool for freelancers
Mike D.
"Best tax tool for freelancers"
Overall: For only $10 a month I know that I don't have to worry about keeping track of my receipts and expenses. I am a part-time freelancer that used to not have a good bookkeeping process for myself and this has helped me and is one of the things I will never get rid of.
Pros: I love how I can connect my bank accounts and it automatically finds business expenses and texts me each day asking if a expense was for business use or not. It saves me a ton of time and money at tax time.
Cons: I don't like how you have to use the mobile app and the web interface is lacking. If you do have them also file your taxes you can only have one state and its not fit for complex tax situations. However, you can export the expenses and give to your tax preparer and that has worked well for me.
"Now I have my own personal finance assistant "
Overall: Love the app, but the text feature is the best part of Keeper Tax
Pros: I love the automatic texts for all my business purchases and I absolutely love that a real person will answer any questions I have on that same text thread. It's like having my own personal finance assistant, and shes very nice too.
Cons: I have not yet used keeper tax for my taxes, but I'm planning on it. As of right now, I have no complaints.
"Basic membership is worth it but falls short in some areas. "
Overall: Simple to navigate the app. Notifications to verify purchases is a plus. Support could be updated to respond faster. Overall under $10 and you have your gross receipts categorized for you so you could make monthly profit and loss statement.
Pros: I like it all you have to do is connect your debit card and it will all transactions in separate groups or easy reports and business purposes. I find this helpful especially as 1099 contractor. The work of organization purchases is done for you.
Cons: I find that exporting your data can be a hassle essentially if want a year end report. I don’t think charging big fees keeps customers at all. Fees for reports and taxes can range between $20-60 which is overpriced in my opinion.
"Keeper Tax is the best"
Overall: It keeps track of all tax write offs for you so you don't have to, and gives you the option to file your taxes with them.
Pros: The fact that the program let's you know when you have tax deductions.
Cons: At first I just didn't understand it. I'm not very good with math and numbers.
