Founder Accounting Used the software for: 6-12 months ### "Solid spend management with excellent accounting integration and easy onboarding" May 17, 2026 5.0 Ramp has been serving our company's financial needs for 6 months. The system has eliminated the need for Excel files for tracking spends and performing all necessary reconciliation procedures. Its main benefits include reduced time required for closing monthly balance and absence of need for controlling expenses because of set limits. Overall, it offers good value in terms of costs compared to the combination of apps it substitutes. I recommend it to everyone dealing with the same problems. Pros The onboarding process went much smoother than anticipated. Cards were issued and the spend limits were established on the very first day, and all employees quickly managed to navigate through the application with no issues whatsoever. Accounting integration takes care of almost all duties I had to fulfill manually in the past – it adds transactions to the ledger with the appropriate categorization and receipts included, saving time on closing month-end balance considerably. It is great how easy it is to manage invoices – once entered, they undergo automatic routing and are paid out without me having to chase people down via email messages. The user interface is intuitive and keeps frequently performed actions easily accessible; moreover, being a web-based product, it works on both my phone and PC without requiring installation. Regarding security concerns, I find granular control over the card settings useful as it helps to prevent mistakes in advance. Cons While accounting integration made my life easier, there were several challenges related to category mapping to be solved beforehand, and you might have to put extra effort into making it work in case your chart of accounts is specific. Some reporting options that go beyond the basics cannot be customized sufficiently to suit your needs, and sometimes it is necessary to export data into an external tool to analyze it further. There are no serious drawbacks yet, although I would suggest managing expectations to see that it is a fairly long and tedious process of setup despite what marketing says. Alternatives considered [Expensify](https://www.capterra.com/p/97594/Expensify/) Reason for choosing Ramp For Ramp vs Expensify, price made all the difference for us. Expensify's reduced advertised rate is contingent on signing a year-long agreement and having 50% of company spending pass through their corporate card. The cost for anything else rises dramatically, plus it's charged on a per-user basis every month no matter how much activity each individual generates. Since we're not tied down by either, the increased monthly per-user cost of Expensify made it too expensive for our needs. Unlike Expensify, Ramp's base software doesn't charge a per-user cost, and thus the calculations were easy. But in addition to being cheaper, the combination of all three functions - the card, expense management, and bill payment - in one solution means we wouldn't have to buy additional solutions and keep track of them. Accounting automation and quickened closing made it worthwhile, but price made us start the evaluation process. Review Source JF Jill F. Furthermore, receipts are digitized directly through scanning or photography. The intuitive app allows users to scan receipts immediately, eliminating the need to search for them later or postpone filling out forms. Pros The platform is incredibly easy to use, and you quickly grasp all the important functions and processes. The interface is very clear and user-friendly. Adding colleagues and ordering cards is very straightforward and all processes are quite fast. It has revolutionized our expense management. The ability to monitor expenses for each employee and set spending limits is also invaluable. Cons Ramp was one of the first things we tackled in accounting. December 12, 2025 4.0 Overall, it has been very positive with no complaints about the usability of the technology itself. I am very satisfied with how we are using it to pay vendors. Pros Ramp makes bill payment a breeze. They have more logical functions as far as integrations and reporting than their competitors, the speed to vendor payment is swift, and they charge in a logical fashion, not some of the inflated rates of other players in the market. Cons They tend to be fragmented and continue to send sales pitches for the products that I am already enrolled in. So communications need improvement. Everyone used their personal card for travel expenses and it was a very cumbersome process to track and reimburse everyone. After some extensive research, we settled on Ramp and were so pleased with the ease of rolling it out to the team. It worked very well for our needs and ended up being such a timesaver. Pros Super easy interface for both admins and users. I also loved how we could personalize the company cards, and how quickly and easy to track the cards were sent. When I used Ramp I worked at an entirely remote organization with employees in over 20 states and it made it so easy. Cons At the time when we unveiled Ramp (early 2023), we had to put together a lot of documentation for our users, but I'm guessing by now they might have more robust templates to use for this purpose. IT is very easy to upload a receipt as you can also just text the receipt or email it. The notifications are not overbearing from the application. They are able to provide a virtual card for spending on corporate accounts. Cons Nothing I can think of. Since we implemented Ramp, we have drastically improved our controls around expenditure across the company, increased awareness about costs and spending and also delighted employees with a far superior tool that provides transparency and quick payouts for them. Pros Ramp is an incredibly powerful tool with a rich feature set delivered by a very high performing team. Ramp has a number of features that set it apart from other tools on the market. The spend dashboards are incredibly intuitive and easy to analyse. Ramp cards can be issued in seconds and have all the appropriate triggers to stop cards being abused if there isn't a valid receipt. Another feature particularly valuable for me is the ability to email Ramp and these email receipts are automatically matched with expenses saving huge amounts of time. The slack integration is fantastic and the ability to approve/pay via slack is a game changer. Cons The mobile app isn't the most intuitive when you are looking for a very simple view of reimbursements. I know this is constantly improving but I have routinely struggled to find outstanding/paid reimbursements. Review Source BH Blake H. The expense reimbursement platform has eliminated countless hours for our sales and customer service teams to focus on their clients versus administrative work. The internal controls and spend programs on ramp are well documented and places strong internal controls within the accounting department. Cons There is nothing I can say I do not like about Ramp, but only enhancement would be able to pass prepaid amortization journals to QB. If an expense is paid within Ramp via CC or BILL function, it can be coded to prepaid account, but the amortization journals have to be posted in QB. A strong control and time saver would be for Ramp to create the amortization rules and pass via API to QB to post. Pros The ease of managing and reconciling charges through the mobile app instead of having to wait to get to a computer to upload receipts and enter detailed information for each charge. Manage as you spend - it's great and easy! Cons The inability to have multi-functioning roles within the ramp system. This would apply to an administrator who is also a manager and cardholder. It would also be nice if Ramp had a quicker method of communication such as instant chat instead of email. It would just be more convenient for time-sensitive questions. From an accounting perspective, everything from initial set up to issuing cards to setting up expense rules is streamlined and easy to use. We also constantly hear from our cardholders in the company how great the switch to Ramp has been due to the great user experience and not having to fill out traditional expense reports. Pros Ramp currently offers the best expense reporting product we have ever used. The system is incredibly easy to use for both accountants and cardholders. By eliminating standard expense reports, Ramp has saved our company countless hours without losing any control or oversight that you would have with standard expense reporting platforms. An surprise benefit has been that there is no cost to Ramp, and we actually make money with the 1.50% cash back perk on all card purchases. Cons We have no complaints with Ramp. Each update to the software continues to exceed our expectations and adds new functionalities that we benefit from. Switched from [ProcureDesk](https://www.capterra.com/p/175845/Procuredesk/) We switched away from the credit card program through our bank and the expense reporting module in ProcureDesk because of the lack of connectivity between the bank, ProcureDesk, and our accounting software (QBO). The lack of connectivity created hours of extra work for us. The user experience of expense reporting through ProcureDesk was also poor and half-baked.
