It remains to be seen if I'll receive it. Since I work in e-bike safety and promoting the three legal classes of e-bikes, I may have been targeted by a shady dealer in our region. Some retailers have been lying to customers (there's a new class action lawsuit in the works). While I haven't named any names in my posts, this may have been preemptive. A book I wrote teaches parents how to shop for legal e-bikes. So, if they "reported" me as not being me, and nextdoor believed them, then I give up on this site. Pros I'm a local business owner who was able to see just how much my service is needed. I'm working to improve e-bike safety in our communities, and a lot of locals have posted about their experiences with teens on e-bikes. Cons I started a paid business account on top of my personal account, and I paid for some advertising. It resulted in no real sales. Worse yet, my account was suddenly shut down, and they said someone accused me of not being me. I sent them proof of my identity, which didn't make any difference ... I have used it to answer questions out there Pros I enjoy the fact that there are so many people out there just looking for different services and Nextdoor could be set to local or 5, 10 15 miles away. Cons I probably least like the fact that it seems to duplicate or permit users to post the same thing over and over again. A if the user was anxious to find clients, offer services. One was dead got hit by a car and my neighbors were very kind and respectful. They didn't want to post the picture of him and instead sent me an email. The other 2 dogs got back to me within 3 days NOW that is quick. Pros I LOVe this site it is awesome it helps people get their pets and loved ones back home safe and sound. It alerts you what is happening in your neighborhood and with others as well. Cons Some people can be rude and mean they will comment back even on your own post. I just ignore them or comment back. July 27, 2024 5.0 Despite its flaws, this is a unique app that you should still download if you value safety, connection, and unity because there’s nothing quite like it. The app not only serves as a communication tool for neighborhood watch programs but is also a place to post babysitting recommendations, local cleaning services, free giveaways, yard sales, and neighborhood events. I love this app for how it brings a community together, encouraging teamwork, sharing tips, and looking out for each other. It's a fantastic way to interact with your neighbors or introduce yourself when you're new. It truly fosters a sense of community and belonging, which our world greatly needs. Pros I have a child, so living in a safe neighborhood is extremely important to me. I want to stay informed about any suspicious activities. I also believe in building connections with neighbors, as you or they may need assistance from each other from time to time. I am a strong believer in neighborhood watches, which require open and transparent communication to function properly. Lastly, I love a good yard sale! I'm always looking for the next bargain! Cons The software looks and feels a bit outdated. They need to make some improvements to make it more visually appealing. If you ask neighbours for recommendations of companies, you get very few neighbours replying. Instead you get the companies themselves responding, which isn't any help as you could get this information from Google etc. I agree with other comments that finding your way around the site isn't easy or obvious. Basically, this is a badly designed and run site. Pros Used correctly, it can be useful tool for people to keep in touch, to post missing animals, recommend companies or warn others of bad experiences they have had, etc. Cons Admin allocates the neighbourhood you are assigned to. In my case they allocated to me the next door area. If I try to change it to the correct area, a message pops up, saying you can't change your neighbourhood! If you post a negative review about a company and the company asks it to be taken down, Admin will do so, even if they readily agree it doesn't break any of their rules and you offer to provide proof of your experience with the company. Finally, if you make any negative comment to a neighbour about rules such as this, your account is suspended! I have received so many helps as well from people and I love the community that I'm blending into! Pros What I like most about Nextdoor would be the users. People congregate in Nextdoor to genuinely be sincere and to help their neighbors. It is also a way to advertise personal services to people and build clientele. I mainly use it to blend into the community that we moved to and to meet new people and build relationships. We can navigate trends, keep an eye on competitors, and provide offers unique to the platform. Pros As a small business that relies on finding clients, this public forum is an excellent place for that. Not the best platform for selling items, though. Cons There is a limit to how much content can be posted, following large fees if we wish to post more. This is fine, as we do not wish to spam this very unique and useful social platform. The fees however...can be very steep, especially for mail marketing. You can ask for a recommendation for a plumber, ask if anyone else heard the loud noise or why traffic is backed up on a certain road. You can advise your neighborhood that someone is going around stealing packages or just thank your neighbors for helping out. It’s a great software that’s neighborhood specific so that people aren’t on it from the next city over and that helps greatly in passing information or getting local advice. Cons No specific cons for this software. You have to have a moderator, which you need on any public forum. It's a fun way to catch up on what's going on in the neighborhood, swap items, help find lost pets, and encourage others. Cons When using Nextdoor on mobile, it's a little too easy to heart (like) a post accidentally. I have found myself doing this a few too many times for posts or comments I wasn't too keen on but was simply reading. I think, too, the developers might consider adding more categories to the site to make posting a bit more streamlined—maybe Events, Lost Pets, etc. Also, some folks such as myself are concerned with safety, so maybe Nextdoor could do a few more things to educate users on how to stay safe on such a platform that is full of strangers. It's helpful to know sometimes if neighbors are going through some of the same things that we are. It's also helpful for people to share info that they have about various things, whether it be someone saw a loose dog...has an outage...sees suspicious activity, etc. Cons The app sometimes gets clogged up with much of the same information or stuff that seems to be spam. It consists of writing your concerns, problems, or suggestions about things happening around your neighborhood. You can ask also for feedbacks about these concerns and open a discussion about a topic that affects the same community. Cons Sometimes people write about things that only concern them. Pros Since moving to a new city I downloaded the Nextdoor app and it has been an invaluable asset for picking up some bargains needed for around the house as well as connecting with whats going on in the area Cons Sometimes it gets a little out of hand on the comments section with peoples opinions rather than relevant info.
