Works great with photos; GarageBand and the iWorks set of applications. Cons Once you are experienced with video editing; iMovie will come short and the tools are basic; the next step will be Final Cut Pro. Usually with trimming clips, doing hard cuts from one cut to the next, and apply simple dissolve transitions. Using iMovie really allows for any of our team members to do these minor edits for quick and simple videos. It also allows for us to move the completed project to final cut to do more enhanced editing like color grading, animations, and more. Pros Ease of use and ability to have work done on multiple medians. Often a project begins on a iPhone or iPad, then will continue to be completed when on a Mac. Cons Some features are a bit limited. Understanding this is not final cut or premiere pro, you will not get all the same options and abilities you would with a more elite editing software. I have used to edit several videos and items. It's got some cool features and allows you to shape your own film narrative on your iPhone or computer. Pros I can take footage and create a movie from it. This is amazing that I can use footage from my camera and make a movie if I would like. I can add music, templates, trim, add fonts, etc. Cons The compression isn't the best. If the movie is long or has a lot of data it's very hard to save it or send it out. It's easy to use compared to other more sophisticated and more expensive products. Pros iMovie for starters is free. When assessing if we needed to purchase Final Cut Pro we decided to try iMovie and see if it an do the video editing we need to produce professional content. The great news is it does. It is also really easy to use and it saves your edits to come back to so we can definitely recommend this product. Cons For us iMovie has issues with dragging and dropping in certain video filetypes, including certain MP4s. This can really delay our video production as we then need to reformat a video file before we can use in in iMovie. They could also have more zoom and panning features. Review Source MS Manette S. Pros My favorite things about iMovie is how straightforward the user interface is and so the learning curve is minimal. From start to finish, I can edit and create a decent quality video in minimal time and effort. This means I can produce more videos for more business clients and other audiences with time and energy to do other things. Cons My least favorite thing about iMovie is the design features, including visual and audio, are too minimal and basic for the most part for my taste. More variety and advancement would be nice for a stronger array of videos. Also, the tutorial for the Kens Burns Effect wasn’t very clear as I thought I had to pinch the video image for it to fit into the frame during the editing process when it was going to take care of itself post process. Pros I recently started a YouTube channel and iMovie is a God sent for me. It makes my editing life so easy! I am able to cut out parts of the video or footage that I don’t want. Mute the footage and speed up the videos. All my projects are saved on the app once the videos are still in my phone. So I can go back re-edit if I want to. You are also given the option of creating your own or you are able to use a template provided by the app, and you can just edit and make it your own. It’s user friendly, and it makes editing a lot of fun, and super easy. When you add multiple videos, a transition is automatically added by the app for you. I love the app! I would recommend 100% to anyone! Fast, easy and reliable. Cons The one thing about this app I which could be changed tho, is to add a faster speed to speed up videos, but you can save the video and add speed again. Apart from that this is a great app!
