Cons As a gig seeker you are outnumbered, and often outbid by people who can afford to do the same job for less. If you don't already have reviews from clients, you will most likely not be selected. Pros Although I am doing a job, Upwork is still my favorite platform to utilize my spare time to use my skills as a freelancer. It’s a source of income for me. Upwork provides me the fastest way to interact with millions of freelancers worldwide. Almost every profession is available at Upwork, where we can utilize our skills to make money or get our project done. The way how to support the team of Upwork communicate with new freelancers is inspiring for me. They guide me at every stage to get my desire project. They told me how to build eye-catching proposals, set milestones, fix budgets, and more. Upwork also sharpens my skills, interacting with individuals to get hired for a specific project, making my communication skills better, an extra benefit of Upwork, and getting up. It’s not a complicated platform, easy to present yourself and your skills, convince the client and start earning by staying at home. Its job-finding mechanism is so cool; by applying filters, you can get the most favorite job. Freelancers bid for a proposal; instead, they can make their project sell out; it’s another fantastic feature for me. Cons Upwork has a strict policy for freelancers to use this platform reasonably. It's a fine thing, but when making a little mistake, they block your account witout telling the reason. In most cases, freelancers would not be able to withdraw the amount that they earned. The chat feature is easy to use, the job search page is one of the best ones I've ever seen for a freelancing website, and the work tracker works really well. I also love the pay options they offer such as direct deposit and paypal. Cons I can't think of anything that I don't like about the app besides wishing that they would lower their job fees. I have used all the biggest platforms and in some of them, it is almost impossible to get jobs, in others, there are a lot of people trying to scam you. Upwork provides a great experience to the freelancers and I would recommend everyone to use it, as a client or as a freelancer. Pros Upwork is a pretty straightforward website to navigate. It has a lot of new jobs every second and, as a translator, it helped me a lot getting new clients and projects. 99% of my clients come from Upwork and I couldn't be more satisfied with the platform. Its security is also a big advantage to the clients and the freelancers since it filters scammers that can be very common on other freelancing platforms. Customer service has always been 5\*. From a client's point of view, if you need something done, there are thousands of professionals that can deliver high-quality services. Cons It can be a bit expensive working on Upwork since having a basic plan only gets you 10 connects per month but you can get up to 50 additional connects per week if the clients reply to your proposal. I liked the functionality, although I wasn't able to get a client in my region then; i was still a newbie as at the time. I used the web based version then. I like the free connects that they give and this tool is very easy to use even if you're just a first timer. Pros I love Upwork that it protects their users. You will be protected to scammers and secured that you will be paid because of the contract you are in. I like it that you can filter the job postings based on what suits you and they give free connects too! Cons The calls feature in the messages still needs to be improved. I know Upwork just rolled out the new policy wherein all calls should be made thru Upwork if there are no contracts yet, it'll be better if the quality will be realiable for video calls. As a client on the system now, I still find the system easy to use and effective for finding quick and short-term help for business projects. Pros I most like the access this platform provides to a global network of varied professionals, including graphic designers, videographer, data entry, data mining, and so much more. Cons Using the platform itself is easy but there is a learning curve on how to best find the perfect fit for the need. Reviews and portfolios are helpful but looking for warning signs of an improper fit of freelancer to the specific project need takes time to develop. Pros The most powerful feature about Upwork enterprise suite is simply the talent pool on Upwork. As a startup, we firmly believe before hiring you should explore all other options to get something built and off the ground. We use Upwork across the business hiring diverse skillsets for missions to help us validate new products and processes. From there, this acts as a sensational hiring process because you can try multiple upworkers before meeting a candidate you want to hire full-time. Cons I think Enterprise suite could integrate AI to help with the process of writing job ads and streamlining the set up process. There is still a lot of guess work that goes into Upwork posting including being unclear about per hour wages and what to write to attract the right candidate. Pros Easy to use time tracking that only requires one click to start and pause. Periodic activity and screenshot tracking is built in so it is more than just a time tracker. Offline time tracking is a big bonus to areas with unstable internet connection. Cons Time tracking is wonky and sometimes inaccurate. The app tries to track time in 10 minute increments so if you work under that amount, sometimes time isn't tracked. Periodic screenshots make it feel like big brother is watching you. You can also put a project on there and allow freelancers to bid on it and find the one who you find most suitable. Upwork acts as a middle-man and they are paid through the site when the work is complete. Cons Since communication and payment can be all done through Upwork, everyone who is a part of the project gets sent an email notification everytime there are any updates to the account or someone has been paid. Freelancers have to pay to apply to jobs, and then we also pay a mark-up when we make payments to freelancers. Also, if you don't pay for a featured job, you barely get applicants. We hired some Upwork developers to quickly put them together. Pros I was able to find great developers and software talent using Upwork. Even better, they are located all across the world so they can work on tight deadlines and schedules while you're sleeping (and still being affordable!) Cons Occasionally you'll get a developer that's just not that great. There is a culture on Upwork to give everyone five star ratings, even when they did a mediocre job, so you have to view the star ratings with a grain of salt.
