May 3, 2024 5.0 Pros I love how Padlet allows students to use technology to collaborate. I have used it in the classroom many times as a way for students to share their thoughts about a subject, while also being able to read the thoughts of their classmates. This technology works great as an Exit Ticket. You can have students put their name and their comment to make sure everyone collaborates. Also, I love how each Padlet generates a QR code. Students can enter the Padlet quickly and easily by using their phone to scan the QR code. They don't have to type a long URL to access the form. This is a great way to get students engaged. I have shared it with my colleagues and they have had great success implementing it in their classrooms as well. Cons Some of the functions are little hard for students to figure out, such as how to add a picture to their comment. Students really enjoy it as it is similar in concept to Twitter, but the teacher is ultimately in control. Cons Only allowed 3 padlets for the free account. I would have to be selective in what I wanted to use it for if I only used the free account. As a teacher, many other resources are so subject specific that this tool is refreshing if you are a teacher of any subject and level. My creativity is the limit when it comes to how I can use the variety of layouts, options, etc. available with Padlet! Pros I love the live updates, the security features, ease of setup and use, the clean visual interface, new user intuitive, and an excellent way to use technology as a TOOL to enhance what I already do in the classroom. If you need student engagement and to incorporate more technology, give Padlet a try. I use it for art critiques, peer feedback, brainstorming, researching, etc. I use it for student portfolios and you can have a custom URL. Cons I wish the "Anonymous" name didn't appear for students that don't want to make an account (even though it is free). I then have to remind students to post their name for credit for their responses. I would like to see a field added where those contributing without an account have a "Name" field that I could enable so they would have to type something there before they can post. Pros What I like most about Padlet is it replaces the old fashioned "parking lot" where participants at professional learning would place questions on post-it notes and place them on a poster to be answered. This allows for real-time questions to be answered and for participant input. I also like that I no longer have to have handouts for professional learning.
