The platform has provided our K–8 teachers with meaningful data to better understand student strengths, identify learning gaps, and personalize instruction. The diagnostic assessment and individualized learning pathways have helped us target instruction and provide students with opportunities to practice skills at their appropriate level. i-Ready data has also supported our MTSS process by helping teachers identify students who need additional intervention, monitor progress, and celebrate growth. Most importantly, i-Ready has strengthened our culture of data-informed decision-making and student ownership while serving as a valuable supplement to high-quality, teacher-led instruction. Pros Our experience with i-Ready has been highly positive. Pros As a student, I have first hand experience with I-ready, and I don't want to be harsh, but I-ready is horrible, it is time-consuming and there isn't any proof that people learn anything from it. The people working in the CA developing I-ready should really remake and improve how I-ready teaches, instead of working on stuff like leveling up and "encouraging games" no one wants. Cons Each lesson takes like 20-30 minutes, but its only worse because of how you have to redo it if you get even a few questions wrong, or how it gives you like another 5 minutes of roasting how you got a problem wrong. Apart from the lessons, the diagnostic is pure torture, if you try hard like me, you quickly find problems you don't know, which isn't bad, but because you don't know them well and will probably get them wrong, it becomes a big pain and is demotivating when it sends you back down to some 4th grade math you forgot about. Since you don't remember everything from past grades, you'll mess up the questions you forgot about and get an even lower score. Not to mention that you don't know every single vocab word in math, especially if the school skipped it or couldn't teach in time. For middle school students, if you don't have a calculator or a paper, long problems or decimal/fraction problems become annoying and hard to solve in your brain. I wish companies actually cared about the students, but because of corporate greed, they focus on making that money and not helping the kids. Its very stressful, it causes anxiety when you don't finish your set minutes for the week. Pros What I like most about I-Ready is really nothing. The creators decided to make I-Ready+. I-Ready+ is really bad. They replaced the fun games for a poorly edited breathing video. Cons Every time I answer a problem correctly it says I got it wrong, but when I answer it again it's correct. The diagnostics do nothing to your my path. The company is money hungry by giving the teachers "word problems" instead of real "math problems". Pros My Children both are users of i-Ready, i help them with their schoolwork on there and honestly, i really think it's amazing that helps the teachers understand what exactly the student needs help with or needs to focus on. Cons The least favorite thing I can say to me, is I don't like how it only teaches your child one way to do a problem, there should be more than one way in case there is some confusion on the other way. Its just a horrid "learning" app that no one should use. Cons This is coming from a student who has used iready for a while now. To put it simply, it sucks. It's especially nice that it can be used at school and also at home. Pros We use i-Ready several times a week. It is a great way to keep my grandchild interested and excited about her schooling. Having access to other programs within i-Ready provides her with the ability to get ahead while having since fun at the same time. Cons I would like it if there were more reports geared for the parents to review. Sometimes I would feel a bit list as to where she was or was not supposed to be and would have to follow up with the teacher for clarification. The minimal growth the students show at the end of the year are solely based on teacher lead instruction and not time spent in this program. We don’t use ready math. We use eureka so I don’t know why we chose iready as a district.
