Beautiful designs. Easy to use. Super affordable. Great customer service. But eventually, I probably will need to use something a little more robust when it comes to reporting, sales pages, check out/payment pages etc. Right now it's great for a weekly email email, but I think they will need to add a few more advanced features for the advanced markerters. Pros I love everything about Flodesk...The template designs are absolutely gorgeous and easy to edit to make the visual aesthetic on brand. It's really easy to use because of it's simplicity, but of course that means that there are a few things missing (in comparison to other email marketing services). But I definitely recommend Flodesk to a newbie when it comes to email marketing as it's very easy to set-up and get started. Cons So Flodesk now offers sales pages and "payment/check-out" forms/pages but they don't give you the option to select what currency. What I liked least about this is that they made it default to your country and in my instance this does not work as I am based in Australia but I charge in USD. There's an online Facebook group for help with features and also online tutorials and help is always given quickly and in the group is personalised to your particular need.The other great thing about Flodesk is the templates/ designs - which just look beautiful compared to most others out there. Cons There are certain applications that Flodesk doesn't yet integrate with, or integration is clunky, which can prove challenging in some cases, depending upon your particicular business needs. Anything more complex or robust, and you need to go to another platform. Pros Flodesk has a user interface that is incredibly easy to use, intuitive, and even soothing. They have gentle, encouraging comments in between transferring you to different pages. Also, Flodesk has gorgeous, easy-to-use email templates. I haven't found another platform that is easier. Plus, Flodesk has a monthly payment for unlimited subscribers, which is phenomenal and affordable. Cons Flodesk lacks a lot of granular data. If you're looking to manage intricate onboarding sequences, sales campaigns, or the like, this is not your software. Even though you can do it, the workflows can be glitchy and lack some of the options of more robust email platforms. Also, Flodesk has a few quirks about management list subscribers that make it challenging to scrub and segment your list effectively. My business suffered a lot because of Flodesk. After moving to Flodesk, my emails are landing into the spam and promotions tab, and the open rate decreased. There aren't extra buttons or links that confuse you, and you're able to easily create, edit, and send emails even if you have no email marketing experience. In my experience, I've enjoyed reading and looking at emails sent from a Flodesk user more so than any other email—those emails look like the designer has given more thought to their email marketing and understands that text AND look are crucial to a first impression. Cons The image layouts (which are very beautiful) are designed for mobile viewing, so horizontal pictures often get the shaft. It's easy to use the templates and layouts, but there isn't a lot of flexibility in furthering designing with what they've already created. If you like to stay organized with emails and content, you might get frustrated with Flodesk. You can sort campaigns and emails into folders, but it takes several clicks to do so. All emails and email campaigns are shown newest–oldest, and there isn't a way to have a "Folder View" of what you've already created or organized. I've never felt less valued as a customer by any marketing tool, in digital marketing, time and money. This has been over a month of my business effectiveness and time-wasting that I never get back. It's been over a month, and my account is still "unverified" After being told my extensive email list is "unserviceable," - no other email marketing platform has ever rejected my contact list. Be expected to provide a time stamp and blood sample of every contact linked to every campaign you've ever done to prove you have permission to email your list. Cons Service, Response Time and Solutions. I must have emailed support a dozen times, with less than three replies and zero follow-up after the initial outreach. An auto-responder emailed me, "This is our third and final attempt to complete your set-up," threatening to cancel my subscription. After completing all the steps, including deleting my entire list and verifying my domains... my account is STILL under review a month later. I definitely recommend as along as you have the money to spend. Pros The ease with which you can create automated campaigns was AMAZING. Also for plug and play email templates you actually had a good amount of control. It was fast to be able to make great looking emails in my brand colors. Cons Honestly there was little I didn't like other than the price. It still isn't as expensive as some platforms (like ConvertKit) but if you aren't regularly getting people signing up for your email list it could feel like a waste. I had a client who initially signed up who ended up changing to Substack because the options on there that are offered for free are actually quite amazing. I set up with Flodesk and things were moving smoothly. Until I tried sending a newsletter out to my user base. With out any prior warning (I've triple-checked), Flodesk told me that my account was flagged and that they would be sending an email to me asking to provide information to ensure I was compliant. That email never came. I had to email-blast customer support and even tweet them to ask what was going on. They replied back with one line "we reviewed your account and can no longer service your account". Asked for context or if I can provide proof. Nothing. I was ghosted. Tried reaching out to support again via email, same one-line response. A compliant user, my account was closed and I was never told why. They did inform me that I was banned for life (not just my company but ME, like, what if I start a new venture and want to use the tool? NOPE. Banned for life.) What's even worse is that in customer service's replies to me, they seem to take pleasure in it. My schedule turned upside down because of this. I have to rebuild from scratch and I'm trying not to pull the rest of my hair out here. Just in case I get a reply to this review: all of what I have said happened within the last week. No, never had repeated warnings like you have told other users they received. I AM compliant with your terms of use, I combed through it in my free time (how fun). Pros I loved everything about Flodesk. Would have been a customer for life. No other tool has better templates or UX. Too bad they throw users under the bus. If I wasn't enraged by my experience with the company, I'd be singing its praises. Instead, I'm trying to make sure no one I know will go through the experience I did. Stay away from Flodesk and your life will be easier (and less likely to need anger management classes). Cons Literally, EVERYTHING. They have the world's worst customer support. I have had to make a big stink about anything to even get a reply. When I get a reply, they are rude and condescending. It's worth infinite amounts of money and time setting up with one of their competitors to not go through that headache again. CEO Staffing and Recruiting Used the software for: Less than 6 months ### "STAY AWAY!!" January 26, 2021 1.0 We transition from using Mail Chimp to Square Space, then stumbled upon an ad for Flodesk. This is a new company, but we initially like what they had to offer. After creating our account and verifying everything we needed to, we started to send professional newsletters on a bi-monthly basis. We operate in the Food & Beverage recruiting sector, and once the pandemic hit, a lot of our clients and contracts lost their jobs, thus losing their email addresses. Because it's impossible for us to know who lost their jobs and when our bounce rate went a little higher than normal. Flodesk immediately suspended our account and demanded we supply them with our subscriber's information, date and the exact time they subscribed, and their IP address. I don't know many people who store their subscriber's IP addresses, but we don't. Apparently, even after explaining our situation to \[SENSITIVE CONTENT HIDDEN\] from Flodesk, they didn't give a rats butt about it and just canceled our account. We've never once had an issue with Mail Chimp or Square Space and will be returning to one of them shortly. Do NOT waste your time with this garbage product, seriously there are much better alternatives out there than this. Flodesk's support shown absolutely no empathy towards a situation that could've easily been handled with removing those bounced contacts. Also, we don't have thousands upon thousands of subscribers, so it's not like we're spamming anyone. STAY AWAY! Pros When we got our money back. There are no other pros to this software. Cons Support is the absolute worst. The software is half decent and is almost a clone of Square Space marketing, but with better layouts and typography. The major con is how they operate. Pros I absolutely LOVE the flodesk forms. I always put my freebies together and use the flodesk forms to distribute the freebies. I also create waitlists on Flodesk forms too. The platform is easy to use and VERY beginning user-friendly. Finally, I love that Flodesk asks you at least 3 times of you're ready to send the emails and gives you the option to "undo" for a few seconds before actually going through with sending off the emails. Cons There are only three cons, in my opinion. A) There aren't any capabilities that allow you to test subject lines B) There isn't a way to organize segments or forms. This makes it hard when I'm looking for specific segments C) I don't like that I have to create a new segment when starting a new workflow and add people to a new segment for a workflow to work. I have been with mailchimp and was looking for an easy switch. Nope... I went to send out my weekly newsletter (this just happened to be the second email I sent from this program with no issues on the first email) and a pop-up appeared (similar to what other users said here) telling me my account needed to be verified and that this could take up to 48 hours- WHY A MESSAGE LIKE THIS WOULD APPEAR WHEN YOU ARE CLICKING 'SEND', as if you have 48 hours to wait on an email. Nothing when I signed in said 'lists had to be approved so do this first' and I am guessing (because I see all the other reviews) that they are going to ask me to go back to my 25k+ subscribers and get permission in flodesk (even though they all opted in for mailchimp). This is not a simple transition. I suspect if you have no email list and are just starting with them. Or if you send to less than 2k people (not for large businesses) then this software would work. Best part about the 'business approval' process is that they are asking marketing questions (how did you hear about flodesk), as if this is at all relevant. I am assuming my email will never be going out. This 'process' I see them writing about in response to the comments of others in the same boat does not exist for other email providers. Pros The emails looked beautiful. The templates seemed really easy to use. The text options were amazing. Cons I can't send emails, customer service does not help, email service where you can't send emails lol. Same thing happened to me as all the others here leaving the 1 star reviews. Clearly more common than they are sharing about. Biggest con, you can't import lists from other companies (so forget about it if you have a big list), can't email, 'review' process takes forever and ultimately I suspect I will end up like the rest (waiting weeks). Very easy to use, set up and customize. Allows use of GIFS, basic segmentation. GDPR friendly. Allows you to set up VERY BASIC landing pages and automations. Cons Very limited in what you can do. Cannot segment beyond the basics. Cannot A/B test subjectlines, preview text, from text or anything I'd like to test to write better emails. Landing pages don't size well on all screens. Layouts aren't that customizable. No instructions on image sizes so you have to do a lot of trail and error. The banding is easily done and the tutorials have been a major time-saver! Pros What an absolutely stunning email service provider. The templates are varied and easy to edit and tweak according to your brand colours and style. There are loads of examples to get design inspiration from and there is also the option to add your brand colours and upload your logo to your 'profile' to make email creation and design easier. The 'Academy' they offer with step-by-step tutorials on how to use the product to its full potential is fantastic and has so many tips on how to make your open rates better and how to create a visually-appealing email that will encourage readers to engage and respond. The price is also fantastic for all that it's offering, and the added benefit of becoming an affiliate and earning right alongside them is fantastic! There aren't limits to the number of emails you can send and there is no penalty for increasing your subscriber count. Cons It can be a bit tricky to integrate with other websites if you aren't tech-savvy (like me). Additional products, like Zapier, are required to trigger certain sequences in your funnels if Flodesk doesn't integrate natively into your website or platform. Some of the templates are very visual which can be excessive and scare way customers rather than draw them in. To be able to not just do that, but enjoy it, makes the work seem less like work. I truly enjoy resonating and connecting with my community because Flodesk made it easy to do so. Pros I love how easy it is to make the emails beautiful. Using Flodesk brought back the fun to communicating with my audience. It's all so user-friendly and intuitive that you're able to focus on the writing more than the setup. Cons I do wish the segmenting and workflow funnels had a bit more features. ...particularly more control over the conditions and actions features within the workflow. I also with there were conditions you could place within bulk emails. Reason for choosing Flodesk Convert Kit was a higher price point than my business was ready for. We regret spending two years using their platform to grow because now we cannot send emails and we have to start fresh on another platform and re-warm our audience. Pros Nice, easy-to-use templates. Nice designs. When it works it works well. Cons There is no customer service. They will send you canned responses and not help resolve your issues. After two years of building our email list and having 30-60% open rates on our email, they shut down our account without notice and wouldn't explain why. We tried to resolve the issue and when we did, they wouldn't let us import CSVs any more. They don't care if you'll unsubscribe or the impact their failing product has on your business. We immediately signed up and built some flows. Before going live we were required to prove our opt-ins, which they ask for in a file that isn't protected. They ask this to prove opt-in which we have provided, however after 3 weeks we got nowhere and the account want cancelled. During this time the account the person who recommended us Flodesk was also cancelled (which was being used to send transactional emails). She had been using the platform for months and has received o support or confirmation her clients data has been deleted. The risk is way too high for any business that relies on emails as a marketing medium. We will be continuing with one of the major providers. Potetially good for businesses that have very small email lists. Pros Simple interface makes creating journies easy, great price Cons Setup: getting customer service to approve your account and email lists they ask for very private data for every record, but still don't approve... Specifically, we make sure our members legally acquired these newly uploaded lists and have express permission from subscribers to send email marketing. These security measures are in place to protect your deliverability and sender reputation. We're sorry to hear your experience was less than ideal. To clarify, our team does need to hear back from you on the list review process to approve your manually uploaded lists. Please rest assured we would never cancel an account or delete a member's data without letting them know beforehand.
