I use it daily tbh especially for audits but this is now being sped up with MCP/agents so I feel our tableau dashboards are becoming more obsolete in some cases

Pros

I love having access to insights in real time, being able to see the query the table is built on for sanity checks

Cons

Its very slow to load, and the sharing links are annoying you should be able to copy the browser url instead of taking an extra minute to load the shareable link

My overall experience with Tableau has been very positive. It is a powerful and flexible platform for analyzing and visualizing data. The interactive dashboards and wide range of visualization options make it easier to identify trends, explore data, and communicate insights effectively. While some advanced features require time to learn, Tableau is a valuable tool for data analysis and reporting.

Pros

Tableau provides powerful and interactive data visualization capabilities. I like how it makes complex datasets easier to understand through dashboards, charts, and interactive reports. It is particularly useful for exploring data and presenting insights in a clear and professional way.

Cons

The main limitation is that Tableau can take some time to learn, especially when working with advanced features. Licensing costs can also be a consideration for organizations with larger teams or more complex requirements.

Overall I found Tableau to be a great resource as it provided data visualization seamlessly and with correct results.

Pros

I really loved that I was able to make data dashboards with this software. It was easy to use and the interface was understandable and functionable.

Cons

It was sometimes hard to navigate the entire software. There were a lot of different places you could get lost within the application.

It's become essential for how I manage the sales team and report upward. Worth it if you're serious about data-driven decisions, but factor in real training time and licensing costs. For a sporting goods distributor our size, it's justified the investment through better territory planning and faster pipeline visibility, though I wish the pricing scaled better.

Pros

I can finally see our regional performance without having to wait on IT to run reports. Building out territory comparisons and product line dashboards only takes about 20 minutes, once you’ve got the hang of where everything is. Honestly, my team actually looks at the numbers now. Since the visuals make sense, people are way more engaged. Connecting our CRM data with inventory levels helps me spot which products are moving where, so I can adjust our focus pretty quickly.

Cons

The licensing cost really hit our budget hard for a mid-sized operation like ours. Training took way longer than expected, too, it wasn't exactly pick-up-and-go for sales folks who aren't really data people. Some of the chart customizations take more clicks than they should. Honestly, the mobile version feels pretty limited whenever I'm out meeting distributors on the road.

I like it. It’s good for small to medium sized business. You don’t need to build a complexed system but just syn your business sales data to easily review the sale performances

Pros

I like the UI of Tableau a lot! You can view all the data you need to know on the dashboard. Just a few clicks to check further into the data.

Cons

Can be a bit complicated if you are not familiar with the data in the tool. Take some time for me to learn how to use the platform

It can be a very valuable add on to Excel, and the tools can be productionalized for ongoing usefulness.

Pros

Tableau operates like Excel on steroids—in a good way. It adds many useful features that make it especially useful for all manner of applications—from creating charts, graphs and maps. to

Cons

It does have a bit of a learning curve, but this can be shortened by using artificial intelligence tools.

Overall I love the platform. From the editable filters to the expansive reporting. Tableau is the best out there, especially for the price.

Pros

Tableau is the most comprehensive metric tracking platform out there. The report features are unmatched. Very user friendly once you get the hang of it.

Cons

The only thing is it takes some time to learn and get used to but as soon as you figure it out it’s smooth sailing. Really nothing else is negative about the platform.

Amazing powerful tool. It transformed how we consume data to make decisions. For example taking leads from CRM, adding customer data from ERP, adding external website users who completed our squeeze sheet and overlaying geo data - amazing!

Pros

The ability to create interactive dashboards that integrate data from multiple sources in one spot. The sources can be internal databases or external lookups.

Cons

Building is a skill that anyone can learn but unless you use that skill often you will forget how to do things and be pretty slow! Simple remedy is to have on expert who can help others.

It’s not “plug and play” for complex use cases, it rewards time invested in learning its calculation system, data engine behaviour (like Hyper), and best practices for performance tuning. I’d say it’s best suited for teams that are serious about analytics and willing to invest in building proper dashboards rather than quick ad-hoc charts.

Pros

the flexibility of calculated fields and LOD (Level of Detail) expressions, they let me build fairly advanced metrics without having to preprocess everything in SQL. The variety of built-in visualisations is strong too; things like heat maps, scatter plots with trend lines, and geographic maps are easy to set up.

Cons

Licensing cost is also a real consideration, especially for teams that need multiple creators rather than just viewers. It can get expensive quickly compared to lighter BI tools.

Overall, my experience is positive. I used it for reporting, dashboards, and KPI tracking across the business. It makes it easy to visualize data and identify trends that you cant easily see when working directly in a spreadsheet or static reports. I find it to be a powerful tool that helps turn data into a usable, decision making tool.

Pros

I use tableau primarily for executive dashboards and reporting. It does a great job of taking large amounts of data and turning it into something that is easier to understand and act on. I liked being able to drill into the data when questions came up instead of having to go back and request a new report. The visualizations capabilities are great and the level of drill down makes the data useful to work with.

Cons

There is definitely a learning curve, especially if you’re building dashboards rather than just viewing them. Some of the more advanced functionality requires training to use effectively. Cost can also be a consideration, particularly when licenses start adding up across a larger organization.
