Reservation system okay, but the accounting side is basic if not obstructive

Pros

many people in the industry are familiar with RMS making training new staff easier

Cons

too many constant changes for no apparent reason

Reason for choosing RMS

RMS was in exisitance when business was purchased and the change over would have been difficult. Four years ago RMS was satisfactory, but if I started a new business I would not choose it.

I have found RMS an easy system to use however with the limited features I would not think it suitable for a large property. The customer service team are good however their return communication is poor (no explanation on how things are fixed so if the problem occurs again you have to call support again rather being able to fix it yourself). I have found there to be quite a few bugs however usually fixed with updates but seems to be a regular occurrence.

Pros

In and Out screen very functional System is easy to learn

Cons

Booking chart hard to read for a large property limited accounting screens for multiple payment types

### "More easy tips"

Pros

Ease of getting around the program. Once you know the concept of Accommodation Sector then you will realise its a bit easier.

Cons

functionality with the housekeeping section as it needs more schedules that can be done for when the mattress protectors should be changed and the mattress turned. Just simple things like that so we dont have to go through another program to work this. Group bookings are a pain whereas Newbook has a button that you can click to put you in group mode. Much easier and user friendly.

Very user friendly even if you have to take extra steps and you question there has to be a shorter way. I have worked on other programs and this by far is my favorite. We have not had this program long and are still working out some kinks.

Pros

With this software you can fix any error! It very rare that you need to contact support and when you do they will send a video of how to fix the problem along with screen shots. It may not seem like much but when you were used to calling out of country, to wait for someone to call you back and then be told it can't be fixed. Very frustrating.

Cons

While everything is fixable you have to go through extra steps to achieve your goal. This is still worth it.

Pros

The product is 2nd to none, the support is incredible, friendly and so helpful and the entire RMS system is one we are proud to use. If you want reliability, accuracy and performance you need to have the best you can - for us that is RMS

Cons

There is nothing to not like - if I were setting up a new property I would not look anywhere else.

With RMS Cloud, I found a travel assistant I can rely on and trust with my bookings. I never have to worry if the hotels are legit or if my payments go through. I am confident that it's all taken cared of.

Pros

What I like most about the RMS Cloud is it makes makes my booking reservations easy and they have this calendar system to remind me of my upcoming trips.

Cons

So far it serves its purpose as my online travel assistant so it's all good.

Our accountant uses the Trust Accounting feature and he is happy with it

Pros

Easy to use once you get a hang of it Like the restrictions we can place for public holidays Like the home screen wallpaper change feature Like the dashboard setup

Cons

Payments can't be split for group bookings The old Tariff/OTA Mgmt needs to be merged with the new Tariff Manager feature It should have an extranet for RMS Book now botton for reports purposes "Rate From" information is incorrect on our website - It cant be fixed as per RMS support

Pros

The software is very powerful, lots of features, reports and capabilities. We do not use all of what it has to offer

Cons

not easy to use. The marketing portion (e mail to customers in particular) is buggy, customer service is not very responsive and the fact that they only do e mail input is a problem

Cons

RMS should strengthen the support lines for South Asia region & focus more on real time support for end customers.

If unsure of something the help tutorials are great and if this still doesn't get you the answer the tech support is always there to help.

Pros

With each upgrade most of the features are similar or in similar positions.

Cons

The rms9+ booking chart is not as easy to look at as the previous rms 9. It doesnt fit on one screen and you need to scroll up and down.

Pros

RMS Software does everything we need and more to have our Hotel run at its optimum efficiency. Excellent system and the service from support staff is 2nd to none - helpful, friendly and most importantly for me patient and responsive.

Cons

Nothing that comes to mind - we are very happy with everything about RMS.

The system is great and offers fast implementation and the best support team around. Always quick to help and offer the means to work around anything needed.

Cons

What I like least? Well that is hard to come up with...I guess it would have to be the reporting for each business needs because we are all different and might need something that someone else might not use. So, just to have custom reports to each business needs.

Pros

Plenty of features for managing property and freedom to customize settings, including the rate tables and periods. Built-in POS for ancillary transactions with integrated accounting.

Cons

Releases are not always regression tested - new functionality sometimes "breaks" my settings. They need a web plug-in for embedded online bookings - not a fan of the page redirect for reservation searches.

In addition to what I said in the "Pros" section, it has also streamlined our accounting, simplified our site assignments, and the extra functions like correspondences and market tracking will allow us to stay in touch with our guests (and find new ones) in ways that will maximize our occupancy and related income.

Pros

Until now, even with the online system we used to use, I had to carry a lot of information in my head, and keep track of it even on my days off. RMS has checks and balances built in, so I don't have to be on top of it all the time. And with the scheduled reports, I don't even have to remember to check for mistakes -- I just program those reports to run and email themselves to me, and if my seasonal staff misses a thing or two, I'll see it and be able to correct it before it gets out of hand.

Cons

The only thing I'd say is to make certain that your staff is computer-savvy. It isn't complicated to use, but it can LOOK complicated to someone who's intimidated by such things.
