It is a powerful piece of software as long as you know it's limitations and don't try to use it for things that should probably be done in Python or R. Pros The ability to explore and visualize my data has been great. I can build dashboards for project stakeholders that take the place of sending reports and are much more dynamic. Cons It is a visualization tool at heart, so it is not great at larger scale data manipulation. The syntax used for calculated fields takes some getting used to and is not shared among other programming languages. Pros Im a analyst who uses Tableau on a day to day basis, And ill say the only good part of Tableau is that organisations have been using it from a long time and it support a whole lot of data sources compared to other like powerbi. Cons The least are many here: lack of customisation, bad UI/UX, not easy to learn, takes a whole lot of time to adjust small small things like adjusting you dashboards according to the different screens and all. Building out territory comparisons and product line dashboards only takes about 20 minutes, once you’ve got the hang of where everything is. Honestly, my team actually looks at the numbers now. Since the visuals make sense, people are way more engaged. Connecting our CRM data with inventory levels helps me spot which products are moving where, so I can adjust our focus pretty quickly. Cons The licensing cost really hit our budget hard for a mid-sized operation like ours. Allowing them to see what's really happening at their facility is invaluable information that we were unable to present before using Tableau.
