### "Good data visualization software"

July 7, 2022

4.0

Overall this is a good tool that can use to do data visualization really fast and easily.

Pros

Connecting and creating dashboards are really good and this is a top solution in the market for data visualization. this contains cloud-based solutions and On-prem solutions. This works with many data files like txt, CSV, xls, as well as this has a free version with really good features than other paid tools.

Cons

Sometimes tableau is getting hung while processing large data files and consume more RAM and CPU power to operate.

### "Good Product, but Challenging to Learn and Implement"

July 17, 2019

4.0

Overall our experience has been positive and I'd recommend the product to other businesses, especially if they have a strong in-house IT team who can configure and support the product better than we have been able to.

Pros

Tableau is a great product for producing usable information. We used to have a lot of data, but it was difficult to analyze it and develop information we could use to manage our business. We looked at Tableau and determined it would remedy this for us, and in fact, it did. We now have a better handle on the various aspects of our business and can make more informed decisions.

Cons

The software was difficult to use and set up. Once we got the hang of it and with a lot of support from Tableau, it became easier. I'm not sure we're using the product to its full potential yet, and some of this is due to our being intimidated about exploring the product's functionality.

### "Very easy to learn, but a surprisingly high ceiling for more technical users"

June 3, 2019

4.0

Pros

1) Easy to use (i.e. you can do a lot without knowing SQL), making it very easy find qualified people to do Tableau-related work. 2) Much more "click & drag"-able than Excel; even box & whisker plots are a one-click addition to a scatterplot (versus very very tedious to create in Excel) 3) Flexibility in syncing to real-time datasets OR extracts enables you to work with whatever datasets/format you have, while providing end-users with realtime data whenever possible.

Cons

1) Can't link datasets from different sources (e.g. manual Excel sheet with something synced to server) 2) Limit on # of fields you can add to a table before they get truncated. 3) It's pretty difficult to tweak the size of individual "sheets" on a dashboard & ensure they're all the same size without spending forever dragging borders around with your mouse.

### "Revolutionary software in the field of data"

June 30, 2023

4.0

Tableau is faster than other business intelligence tools. I'm sure Tableau can bring revolution in the field data. I recommend it.

Pros

Superb software for those who work with data. If you are data engineer, data analyst , data scientist, teacher, student or business own you should try it once.

Cons

Tableau has nothing dislike thing. It's amazing software. It can solve almost all problems related with data. Whether you want reporting or data processing. It can handle very easily.

### "Tableau reporting is only as good as your report writer"

June 6, 2019

5.0

Tableau is a powerful and engaging tool in the right hands. I recommend purchasing the trainings available to front-load any new users, and their web version for published reports is fantastic once you have your data selected and narrowed.

Pros

Tableau is phenomenal at taking complex data sets and making them understandable to a wide audience. Built-in functionalities are easy to navigate and the "how-to" links and articles are stellar.

Cons

The biggest issue we've had with Tableau is the steep learning curve that comes with access to data fields previously unavailable. Because we are now more empowered to generate our own reporting versus our advancement team, there have been a fair amount of misunderstandings on database basics and etiquette, like naming conventions. This is not the fault of Tableau in any way but has soured some users with its complexity of options.

### "Best looking data analyst tool"

February 9, 2021

5.0

Extremely happy with Tableau. Compared to other tools like PowerBI or Qlik, Tableau is far ahead, and improving all the time. Going forward, as the products are now, I can't imagine choosing any other.

Pros

Tableau Desktop absolutely produces the cleanest and most intuitive reports of any software like it. The learning curve for basic functionality is short and the online resources for deeper dives are plentiful.

Cons

Reports distribution in Tableau Desktop is clunky and connecting to SharePoint or similar distribution tools are too difficult to setup without professional IT assistance. Tableau Prep is still in early stages of development. Some Flows take much too long for what shouldn't be so challenging an operation.

### "Good tool but needs to be do lot better to keep being a market leader"

December 21, 2022

4.0

Pros

Tableau's ease of use for the features that come out of box. There is lot of flexibility in how certain aspects can be addressed or customizations built.

Cons

The fact that there are several basic and standard things that are missing from both the visualization stack of Tableau and for basic and advanced reporting too. For Tableau to think that basic functionality e.g. sort columns in a report type format needs a customization, is ok and not address these type of basics is one of quite a lot of their weak spots.

### "An easy tool with a huge impact"

June 13, 2023

5.0

Pros

Since we did the transition from Excel to Tableaut, our reports, and efficiency had an huge positive impact. Our Data team was able to deliver better and faster dashboards and all units were able to align data visualization and build better reports.

Cons

From a user perspective, I do not have any negative experience with it. I use it mainly to extract information and build my internal reports, and we never had any problems or felt restricted in terms of functionalities.

### "Great for maps, visualizations and dashboarding"

March 1, 2024

5.0

I really love using it for maps and interactive dashboards but I prefer to prepare my data in another software (Excel or Alteryx) before using it in Tableau.

Pros

I love its map functionalities - it's so simple to create a detailed map of locations of company X in country Y or locations of various companies in country Y on a heatmap with population density. You can divide your map by different categories, use different colours for different categories and it just has so many possibilities that it's really fun to use.

Cons

Connecting different data sources can be a little frustrating - you need to be careful with your file extensions and always double-check your data types.

### "Amazing to process data from multiple sources"

August 24, 2022

5.0

The tool is must and Tableau prep is more effective as it reduce the data cleaning work drastically. Even you can use processed data to Python or some other analytics rather than Tableau Dashboard itself.

Pros

Tableau has a tool called Prep which is quite handy for data import from multiple sources be it excel, relational table, plain text. You can easily refine the data and further use it for analytics.

Cons

Selecting features during preparation of visual analytics is quite cumbersome. Also chart selection and fitting the data require so much of training.

### "Maximize Your Data Analytics Potential with Tableau"

February 10, 2023

5.0

Overall, Tableau has been a valuable addition to my toolkit, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking to enhance their data analytics capabilities

Pros

In terms of ease of use, Tableau is a highly user-friendly, intuitive interface, and the Interactive Dashboards make it easy for even non-technical users to create and share reports. The software also has a large online community, making it easy to find resources and tutorials to help you get started.

Cons

Tableau is a powerful data visualization and analysis tool, but like any product, it has its strengths and weaknesses. In my experience Mobile Accessibility needs improvement: While Tableau's dashboards are optimized for desktop viewing, they could benefit from improved mobile accessibility. This would allow users to access insights on the go and make data-driven decisions quickly.

### "A very intuitive business intelligence tool"

January 14, 2020

5.0

I started using it while I was making my MBA and I was amazed at the easy of use and the possibility to make chart in a very powerful way beyond excel. Later on, when I was asked to do some complex representation of many parameters, Tableau has been the best and easiest option, beyond other 3 options I have tried from major sellers

Pros

\- Very intuitive way o assemble data, no need for programming or special commands - Easily change data from numeric to alphanumeric - The most common and useful charts are available - Easy to breakdown data into several clusters - I once plotted 6 parameters in a 2 dimensional chart: X, Y, bubble size, color, name, icon - You can build special read-only docs with the functionality to be read by Tableu Reader (as in acrobat reader) - You can customize label, axis, trend and references lines

Cons

\- Eventually some very specific charts are not there as chord, tornado, tree maps, nodes, gauges, alluvial diagram, dendograms - Even with all the clustering, it lacks statistical analysis as Anova, hypothesis test between two set of data, normal probability plot

Reason for choosing Tableau

It requires less time to make charts and analysis compared with the other options

### "Robust and best visualization Software for any org"

November 8, 2018

5.0

A lot of business units produces huge volume data and they come from different region and location for higher management it is really inefficient to view and take major decisions on them. The old reporting systems are efficient but they lag enormously on the visualization part. With help of tableau we can achieve a lot of granular data but represented in state of art forms.

Pros

The slicing and dicing capabilities help you work with huge volume of data with so much of ease that you will never require an onsite reporting resource if you become handy. One of the best tool that not only allow you enormous data visualization options but also allows you to get data from different systems with real simple methods. The drag and drop capabilities are so easy and robust that you feel like you are an expert in reporting product and configurations. At times I feel really amazed with my regular laptop/desktop how I can perform so efficiently where as other tolls really give up.

Cons

The learning curve will be stiff because this tool has so much of capabilities if you are not using them then it's not value for money. The security of the reports might be concern once published publicly. I wish they have better offline working capabilities.

### "Easy To Use With Good Performance"

January 15, 2020

4.0

It's a good visualization tool. but price is not as cheap as we thought.

Pros

Extract data source - hyper. we converted some Cognos reports to Tableau, in Cognos we have to pre-schedule it because the complex query behind the scenes takes long time to run. At beginning we use Tableau live connection, put most of calculations in ETL but still getting performances issue. after switch to hyper...oh it's fantastic.

Cons

In Cognos, to view Query behind FM model or Report just one click, it's very helpful and convenient during development and troubleshooting. In Tableau have to dig into log to find the query or check from DB side.

### "Dashboards and Performance Measures"

August 1, 2022

Pros

The dashboard feature is my favorite. I am able to share mission critical key performance indicators with my stakeholders. My stakeholders are able to access the dashboard information on-demand with confidence that the information presented is correct.

Cons

I would like to have recommended options for charts and graphs. Sometimes the graphic presented may be more understandable in a different format.

### "Helping get a data visualization"

March 3, 2022

3.0

We are able to make better decision toward the future. It helps us predict how the markets will be over time.

Pros

We are able to track and manage data. It allows us to create some "Tableau" on which we can manipulate data and get a visualisation of the data we need. It's making data analysis easier.

Cons

Easiness of use depends on the person creating the data boards. I'm not really convinced in terms of UX/UI. The visualisation itself is not "beautiful", a bit boring sometimes.

### "Powerhouse Dashboarding and Data Analysis / Visualization Platform"

December 19, 2018

5.0

I've used Tableau at mid and large-size companies for analyzing and visualizing data. Getting up to speed on its use and application took a few weeks, but I've been impressed with its functionality, reliability, and capability overall. It can put together good looking dashboards and PDF exports for client-facing purposes, and internally can be used to host read-only dashboards to gauge performance or insight.

Pros

Extensive learning resources are available, through the platform and with its community of users. Tableau is excellent for preparing reports, data analysis and visualization, and customizing dashboards. It can ingest a variety of data sources, like CSVs, XLSX files, and connect directly to SQL databases to query and present massive datasets. It is extensively functional, and it puts out pretty decent -looking reports in PDF format for clients or execs.

Cons

The limitations of Tableau are really more about the cleanliness and organization of the data sets with which you're working. If everything in the database is tidy, Tableau is excellent for importing and exploring datasets. It can sometimes freeze or crash, and refreshing data can take a long time when you're working with complex dashboards (like, 2-3 hours). The Public (Free) version of Tableau is great for learning, but everything you do in it is public (which is a smart way to get people to buy the paid version, while also incentivizing learning).

### "One of the best tools for reporting"

January 8, 2019

5.0

Pros

Using Tableau, I am able to make aesthetically beautiful, well structured, easy to share and automated Reports - Thanks to the numerous features to build the dashboard, Integrate with a wide range of databases, pretty graphs, storyboard, actions options! A website like dashboard can be created with a lot of interaction and shareable format. With each version update, the features are improving, which is another great thing about this software

Cons

Nothing really, initial versions (2 years ago) had fewer features, but now it has everything one needs to create a great dashboard. However, Simple dashboards are easier to build, the more complex the dashboard idea gets, the harder it becomes to make and not many resources are available for the challenging issues - needs lots of experimentation.

### "Incredibly powerful software that does many things with ease, but still requires code writing for more complex analysis "

December 23, 2015

4.0

This software is by far the easiest BI software I've used (tried Zoho, Excel Pivot tables, Microsoft BI, and many others). It's a slam dunk for drag-and-drop analysis of lots of things. But if you want to do more complicated analysis of what you're looking at beyond face-value graphs of plotting X and Y axis, you're going to need to learn how to perform some custom coding. Fortunately, there are LOTS of free guides available through community forums and online blogs. But it takes time to read those, and unless you're trying to do exactly what the examples show, it takes quite a bit more time to adapt said examples to whatever is specific about your scenario. The price isn't cheap at something like $1000/yr, so it's no small investment. But from every other software I've seen, I'd buy this over the others.

Pros

Super simple drag-and-drop interface for plotting out info. Massive online community forums packed with information and examples Huge amount of content produced by others on various sites (blogs and such). Ability to quickly open someone else's example worksheet to get "hands on" with the data from their examples (as opposed to just reading about it).

Cons

Like every other software I've seen, there's no escaping the need to code custom functions for complex or deeper analysis The price tag is fairly high - likely cost prohibitive for a small business who is just looking to try and analyze data that their POS software won't do for them, or that Excel Pivot tables just can't quite seem to cover.

### "Tableau for Dashboarding"

December 18, 2018

5.0

Pros

The functions are easy to create and implement into your dashboard. The columns of your dataset are organized between categorical and numerical in a clear and concise manner. You can upload your projects onto Tableau's website onto your viz profile. The ease of creating formulas is due to their autocomplete feature.

Cons

There are some issues with the licensing features. Often the software after an update may require you to confirm your current license. There are some aspects of the software that aren't straight-forward. For instance you need to make a special file in order to upload your dashboard onto their servers. There isn't a clear way to use Tableau's webservice with data models created in a .py file making it difficult to view your dashboard without using Tableau's website.
