### "All-In-One application for you company needs..."

November 5, 2019

5.0

I've worked with many different computer languages and applications over the past 30 years, and I wish this application had been there from the beginning. The need to understand every field's settings (e.g. numberic versus text, etc) is now no longer a problem. Also the ease of creating dashboards that are legible and concise is amazing! Plus, the online community is only a few keystrokes away to helping resove any challenges. In a nutshell, this application works!

Pros

Seamlessly aggregate data from various data sets into one database. An application for both the programmer and the non-programmers. Excellent pain-free dashboards!

Cons

Initial logic for connecting data sources into properly filtered data was a little bit of a learning curve, but not too difficult.

### "Intimidating for amateurs but incredibly useful"

November 16, 2023

5.0

I used it first as a user viewing data in a retail environment. Reports were easy to keep updated and the data viewing choices meant different managers were able to customize the look of their data. Now I have used it creating reports for myself. I enjoy using it more than salesforce reports as I get that extra level of customization and think that it simply looks better.

Pros

The customization of your dashboards is unparalleled. The tools to get started help anyone, even those with basic or no sql skills to be able to put together basic reports. No better solution in my opinion for being a hub for KPI tracking across a company.

Cons

The learning curve is steep. Imported data needs to be clean or you are going to struggle with larger datasets but that is true of all data visualization tool.

### "Helps in Constructing complex analytical dashboards with different visualisation methods"

May 9, 2021

4.0

With tableau There is no limit to the depth and complexity with which we can analyses the data, i meant to say it is so flexible, with good expertises we can build any type of dashboard

Pros

Tableau is a great tool for constructing complex analytical dashboards, any level of complexity is possible in this tool, it can read input data from many sources, starting from plain file systems such as XL, CSV.. to complex databases such as snowflake, mysql.. We can join or write custom queries to build the source data, to construct dashboard we go with dimension-metrics approach, hear we can write exuberant number of calculations and computations to create a calculated fields, and that in-turn can be used for dashboard creation, the basic module is a worksheet and multiple worksheet can be put to gather to form a Dashboard, here we can add any kind of advanced interactive filters for the dashboard which will filter the source data , we construct these on a desktop application and we have to push the to the server to host this dashboard, the server tracks of the number of views , access control, refresh extract scheduling etc..

Cons

When we develop a complex & heavy dashboard with extract data enabled, then it takes lot of time to load on the tableau desktop, to pull it from the server some times it never opens, have to retry many times and to push from the desktop to server also takes time, i think it pushes the local extracted datas along with the tableau files

### "Tableau review"

October 29, 2019

4.0

Overall, Tableau does a great job providing data for you to use for quarterly reviews for customers. It's easy to transfer the information to presentations.

Pros

This software is great for pulling data when looking at sales. It allows you to see year to date and month to year. Depending on how the dashboard is organized, it is easy to navigate and does a great job showing visuals with the data.

Cons

With a lot of data it can be hard to set up exactly how you need to view the data. We have changed the look on our dashboards to make it easier to navigate. However, breaking down products to be able to sort them into different categories can be difficult.

### "Complete Visualization Tool"

November 6, 2018

5.0

Pros

The guys at Tableau are doing a great job servicing the data field. I use Tableau on a daily basis to create appealing visualizations for reports and to support supply chain processes and decision making. The software allows me to conveniently import large data sources and work with them within the interface. While pre-made templates aren't the greatest for my line of work, it is very easy to customize them and/or start from scratch.

Cons

Data visualization tools aren't easy to learn as a whole, especially for those without experience with similar software. While the case with Tableau does match this description, there are many great tutorials provided by the Tableau team and its vast peer network.

### "The best tool to analyze and visualize data"

December 5, 2019

5.0

Only positive expirience, instead a design ETL to get and visualise data you can do it quickly by yourself using Tableau. Really helpfull to visualise data and create reports.

Pros

Easy to use. You don't need to know data source specific, only a business ER. Quickly join, merge and aggregate data from multiple data source, even they're from different types of data sources. Dynamically update a dimensions and measures. If you have a Tableau server, you can develop on your host and publish company wide with dynamic data update. Basic tools for data analysis and ability to create custom dashboards.

Cons

Needs to get quick intoduction or course how to use it. Without that it's impossible to use it naturally. License a pretty costly, but worth it.

### "Excellent Tool for Data Analysis and Reporting"

March 22, 2023

5.0

With such a broad range of features in its suite, Tableau Desktop is one of the best tools on the market for generating insights. Also, if well-designed, its reports are relatively easy to grasp while still having the power to make adjustments at the necessary levels. As needed by the company or the clients, one can produce a range of visualizations. The back end's data pipelines are extremely reliable. One of the best tools to incorporate and execute even the most sophisticated logic is the tableau desktop's ability to construct the reports in developer mode.

Pros

Great software for data visualization and reporting. Easily customizable to meet my needs as a Data Analyst.

Cons

The formatting is very limited and drag-and-drop functionality is missing.

### "Best platform for data visualization"

November 5, 2020

5.0

Tableau has been the most useful team when creating data tables and having takeaways from massive piles of data. The platform makes it easy to create so many types of charts and to edit the templates for client facing interfaces.

Pros

This platform is the best platform for visualizing data in multiple formats. Tableau can be used for wrap reports, mid campaign reports, finances, really whatever it is. It is also great that it can ingest data from platforms without having to manually upload- for example DCM.

Cons

Nothing to dislike, but it is a learning curve with using Tableau- both from the creator and the viewer side. The creator needs to learn how to make charts and play around with the various options which takes time, but is not that difficult.

### "Tableau is the best analytics system for managing a team"

I love using Tableau its a way to get a full picture of how your team is doing but also dive really deep into whatever metric you need.

Pros

This is amazing for me because I am managing a team of customer engagement reps all of whom have many different metrics that they are held to. I can manipulate the data easily to look at different historics and track KPIS

Cons

Sometimes there is a lag in the software if i move too quick and try to go back and forth between data too quickly.

### "Took our data visualizations and analytics to a whole new level!"

February 7, 2018

5.0

Completely changed the way our company uses data. Increased visibility and ability of managers to accurately see what is happening in their areas. It makes it easy when business questions come up to quickly build a visualization to get at the answers.

Pros

One of the most powerful tools that I've used. It has helped us answer so many business questions. You will never go back to Excel. It does everything Excel does and 100 times more. The power of being able to connect directly to your database, live, and quickly build dashboards and trends is amazing.

Cons

There is a steep learning curve in understanding how calculations work, levels of detail, etc. But if you know database structure and are able to make charts in Excel, you'll quickly figure it out.

### "Tableau - Connect, Build and Visualize your data!"

November 20, 2019

5.0

Tableau helps to quickly connect with data sources and build eye-pleasing visualizations. The ease of use of the tool helped me to build dashboards and we were up and running in no time.

Pros

Tableau is an excellent to create dashboards and reports in quick time and user-friendly way. The visualizations are attractive and intuitive. The 'Show Me' option to cycle through possible visualizations is very useful. Connecting to various data sources like Oracle, Snowflake and fetching data has been very easy. Data modelling is a breeze too. Publishing to Tableau Online or Tableau Public is very easy and is available from the Tableau Desktop menu. Publishing dashboards and data sources to the server is a smooth experience.

Cons

Tableau could definitely improve on where row level security is concerned. Any options out of the box would help.

### "Strong Data Viz Platform - With Steep Learning Curve"

October 4, 2022

4.0

I enjoy using Tableau and recommend it over other data visualization tools due to the flexibility and the beautiful visualizations that can be made with it. I think when paired with Tableau Online the tool is even more useful, especially for use when presenting to clients

Pros

I like the customization that Tableau provides. Custom groupings, custom sets, level of detail expressions, and more allow for analysts to shape the data to their liking, resulting in better analyses. I also really like using the Tableau Online platform for sharing dashboards. The level of interactivity that the online platform allows for a two-way conversion with your audience. There is a steep learning curve that should be taken into consideration, but with some practice it is a great tool for analysis and visualization

Cons

I do not like that there is no spell check in the software, I feel that it should be included in 2022. I also don't like having to browse the Tableau user forums to find solutions to errors I get in-platform. Often times the errors are so generic it is difficult to understand what needs to be fixed

### "Tableau makes your organization data-driven!"

April 8, 2021

5.0

Overall, Tableau is an inexpensive system to fill all your data with and make it visual in minutes. In our organization we have a business intelligence colleague who makes all the visuals. To me that is sometimes frustrating, because I know that I can easily make them on my own. However, extra administrators accounts are quite expensive. Therefore it is important to strategically choose who's going to use it.

Pros

When I uploaded a big dataset Tableau made it look easy to create some graphics and tables with basic information that helps me to managing our business processess. The software is user-friendly and developed to let people without a business intelligence background create the best overviews possible.

Cons

As I said, the software is user-friendly. However, to get the best out of it I would recommend to hire a specialist who has been working with Tableau continuously at several organizations. This person cannot only explain how to make good graphics. In our case this peron also gave us an insight of how he has used the graphics to manage processes at companies he had worked for.

### "Frequent Business User"

September 14, 2021

4.0

Overall Tableau is a great tool for our business. It's usefulness is highly dependent on having a support team that knows the product well.

Pros

If you have a good support team (i.e., Business Intelligence team) who is trained well then Tableau can be an excellent tool. I link the dashboard/graph capabilities and data syncing options the best.

Cons

We've run into occasional issues where Tableau can't display or manage the data they way we'd like. They are rare and we usually can find a workaround. A lot of issues happen in the way the table characteristics can be displayed.

September 25, 2018

Absolutely try Tableau! If you are a student make sure to get the student version for practice, which is free as far as I recall. You'll have to provide proof of enrollment.

Pros

A MUST tool for anyone who is in the field of data and statistics. Tableau is perfect for dashboard creation and dealing with different sources of data in order of visually display meaningful finding. Drag-and-drop can be used for easy graph creation. Tableau offers a wide-variety of data-analysis features that make the experience of data analysis and data visualization much smoother.

Cons

It can be a bit overwhelming at first, but Tableau is much easier to learn with all the online tutorials that are available than most other software of its class.

### "Great solution for data visualization "

November 7, 2017

5.0

Having my dashboards published and being able to get to the most crucial KPI's when in a negotiation with a vendor, is what has given me the most value in my current position. Also, being able to review the productivity of my procurement team is key to my day to day operation.

Pros

I was having a hard time with our ERP that needed to generate reports, then messing with them on Excel so that I could get some graphics and valuable data to make purchasing decisions, since implementing Tableau I have my Dashboards published and I'm able to access data on the go. This has impacted my work so that we are making better decisions when it comes to purchasing and procurement.

Cons

I only think that the learning curve is pretty steep, not that it's terribly complicated, but you need some patience and skills to get the reports you need, the availability of tutorials and resources online makes this way easier.

### "A great dashboard(-ing) tool"

February 6, 2021

4.0

I have been using Tableau for more than 2 years now. The software offers a lot of flexibility with producing visuals.

Pros

Tableau has many great features but my favorite is its intuitive working which enables first-time users to quickly learn its basic functionality and gradually learn some tricks along the way. Tableau's connectivity to Excel, sharepoint, APIs, google sheets, text/csv files, databases - SQL, oracle etc covers pretty much all bases for my organisation's needs. I have also been using Tableau Prep from the suite to scrub data while recording each step along the way which is a great feature that helps with reproducibility. The Tableau online community has been a big help troubleshooting my issues and providing inspiration through showcased works.

Cons

Some of the API connections (e.g. with Safety culture) are not as seamless when compared to the competitor product - Microsoft PBI.
