Interactive reports and stories can be made ( heat maps etc). 5. Reports can be published on the server or made public. Cons 1\. A bit hard to understand for the technical novices. 2. September 25, 2021 5.0 It has been extremely lovely to use Tableau, it is a great software and I would absolutely recommend it to any Data scientist/Analyst or researcher. Pros This software is absolutely amazing. The cheer amount of functionality present in Tableau is insane. But the best things about it in my opinion are the beautiful canned visualization and the ease of use of the software. Pulling in data from different resources is easier than ever. if you are wondering, Yes ! tableau has Regex, so life is going to be fairly straightforward if you are dealing with textual data. There is almost no required software to run Tableau and when it does run it is relatively fast. I also love that you can share your visualization online and share it with the world and even get inspired by others in the Tableau community . It is my favorite BI tool on the market. Cons There is very little to criticize in the software itself. but perhaps additional forms for questions and answers online would be helpful other than the instructional ones on the website. I use this as I work as a supply chain analyst. And use it to report supply chain data. Pricing is the biggest advantage of this tool Pros The features are great and the pricing is amazingly affordable. They have a quality customer support and is super easy to use. I also like they it's very mobile friendly. Cons The refresh feature is not the best. It does not refresh automatically. Requires user to plug in data fields manually rather than auto detect data fields for visualization. Cons It takes a lot of time to thoroughly learn how to build workbooks and to understand the "language" of Tableau on the backend. When I transitioned into the role where I needed to construct some unique views and workbooks for my team, the training time investment was more than I anticipated, and I still learned as I went. Be sure you have patient instructors and give your Tableau experts the full time they need to feel confident - this will allow them the freedom and comfort to "play" with more data! Pros The program in general is easy to use and has a lot of features, there are many graphs to demonstrate your data. More over you can link most of the databases with Tableau in Order to visualize this data such as Excel spatial files and even Text files, or you can connect Tableau to servers like SQL, oracles and so on. it's easy to play around with the data as long as you have only the basics of Tableau and as more as you learn about it your visuals will look more professional. I really recommend it for the people working in Research in general. Cons I would not say that there are any problems with the programs there are a few things any new user will find complicated such as the filters and how to apply specific filters especially for complicated date ranges, also there is the constant updating for the program which seems sometimes kind of messy, because even when you update the program sometimes it keeps asking you to install the same update which you've already installed, but that's really not an issue. Cons There are many filters options that made me confuse in the earlier stage of using tableau, but now I got hands on with this but for the new developers it would be bit difficult to understand the functionalities and usage of the different filters. I used to do all my visuals and pivot tables in Excel, but Tableau does those things in a much more efficient and clean way. I can easily live with all the small problems I have with Tableau when I see the finished products and how neat and presentable the visualizations are. I can let Tableau do all the hard work, then I take all the praise and recognition. Pros The software is able to take tons of data and create dynamic visuals in just seconds. I love being able to see a visualization, and then interact with it to see the details behind what you see initially. Cons The software takes a while to get used to, and there are some minor things that I feel like Tableau could change to make a huge difference, but those minor headaches just don't seem to be a priority in software updates. The user interface is also clean, and all the required data analysis can be done with drag and drop. Since this is a mobile compatible software, it an be used for ipad an iPhone use a well. We have clinical and business office Dashboards that everyone from executives to managers to techs are able to utilize to better inform their own analysis, workflows,and decision-making. Pros One of the best parts of this software is that Users can access a URL and view all of the Dashboards and data analytics needed. When it comes to visualizing metrics with filters on data at the highest or most granular level you can't beat Tableau. Cons If you have Users that need to access or download raw data Tableau isn't very intuitive. You can acheive this, but it's difficult for developers and users. It would be nice if dashboards also had no limit on height (you can't add multiple visuals in Tableau, only what worksheets fit on the Dashboard .
