Pros

  • Customer Service is excellent - FAQ is super helpful - User-friendly for both Admins and Volunteers - All functions related to volunteer management and engagement are met using POINT.

  • Point app is easy to use, free and relatively intuitive. Best customer support I have ever received from a software in my career - Stephanie is responsive and helpful always.

  • I love the ease for volunteers to be able to sign up and the event management is great.

  • POINT has been so eager to help our school get started and be successful. They are quick to offer tips and quick to implement any suggestions we might have.

Cons

  • Maybe it was human error on my end and I deleted an email - I did not receive an email about a recent volunteer signup.

  • There is one though that confuses my volunteers. At first you could see all our events on the app immediately.

  • We have a really hard time managing volunteers because we're so understaffed. We need volunteers but don't have time to manage them...it's a constant problem.

  • Some volunteers had a difficult time signing up at first.

"Point App Volunteer Software - Great for our small org!"

Overall: Point App has helped our food pantry - a laborious endeavor that relies heavily on volunteers - connect with a wider, more diverse group of volunteers from all over the city!

Pros: Point app is easy to use, free and relatively intuitive. Best customer support I have ever received from a software in my career - Stephanie is responsive and helpful always. We haven't actually embedded the software onto our website yet, but are looking into doing so. It feels great to know that feature already exists in Point app for us, when we're ready! The app is a really great "all in one" volunteer management platform.

Cons: The only feature missing from Point app in my opinion is the ability to publish the same volunteer event for multiple days at once time. Our org's volunteer shifts are the same hours every day, 5 days a week. It feels like there should be a way for me to post said shift for every weekday in a month with the click of a button, some sort of recurring shift, rather than having to create the volunteer event from a template for each day one by one. That is literally my ONLY complaint about the software - everything else is great!

"Easy to use tool"

Overall: Still relatively new for me but I do like how the app is quick and easy to use.

Pros: The app makes it quick and easy to add volunteer hours.

Cons: I would like to see the app account for volunteer hours outside of events. As a board member there are many other tasks I work on the aren’t attached to a specific event.

"Habitat for Humanity sees increase in volunteer base thanks to streamlined communication"

Overall: Point revolutionized our volunteer relationship when we signed up last year. It is so nice to be able to create quick reports, especially for various groups that need their own hours documented. It has been frustrating that I had to work hard to convince my team and the board of directors that we needed to implement Point by enumerating all its free capabilities, only for those capabilities to become part of the paid version over time. I feel like every month or so, I have to rework our processes because we lost an ability that had been available before. It has been personally embarrassing on multiple occasions when those who were hesitant about starting with Point have called into question the efficiency and effectiveness I was able to prove initially when they learn that it keeps changing and most of its previously available capabilities are now unavailable to our team.

Pros: The free version does what our org needs at this time. We are able to communicate with groups of volunteers quickly and efficiently. Reminder emails are generated automatically and sent to each volunteer registered for an event and it includes a link to a map to the location. There are very few questions about what to expect at our volunteer events because of the prompts that Point uses when setting up a new event.

Cons: The free version's capabilities have changed drastically since we started using the Point. I especially lament that my volunteers are now indicated as "pending" until I manually approve them individually. Since I am not at my desk 24/7, this has had a negative impact on our volunteer relationship. At this time, our board cannot justify the upgraded version's cost and I fear that we will have to look for another free option if the capabilities continue to become more time consuming, confusing, and off-putting for our staff & volunteers.

"POINT - Highly Recommended for Nonprofits"

Overall: I am highly satisfied with POINT and it's offerings. I highly recommend this software to other organizations.

Pros: The software is user-friendly for volunteers and administrators. When our volunteer program was being created, we were able to implement POINT seamlessly. POINT staff are helpful, professional, and responsive.

Cons: On occasion, the activity reporting does not load properly, and the numbers or graphs are off. For example, sometimes the graphs show volunteer activity on the wrong day.

Alternatives Considered: VolunteerMatters and CERVIS
Reasons for Choosing POINT: POINT covers the basic needs of our program at no cost compared to other software. I know that if we ever need more out of POINT, then we can move to a paid version. The POINT staff made a great first impression in our demo. I feel that they really care about us as a client, even though we would be a non-paying one due to being a nonprofit.
