Authory Reviews
"Authory - excellent and a game changer. Thanks!"
Overall: Building start-ups in private equity is different when VC backed, or a small team of excellent skilled professionals. Normally this latter category might be akin to an example of the independent film "movie triangle" time – money – quality. Obviously smaller firms or professionals have quality; they're brilliant and best in class, but small due to either time or money – when money references the cost of software or salaries that a VC backed firm would have. In this business category, I wanted to find various tools to help the excellent smaller companies take their business to the next level, helping to achieve their goals. While there are a host of tools that help, with a smaller handful much better than the rest, I wasn't expecting Authory to be a game changer; and I believe it is. At some of the Corps I've invested in, I've hired marketing team and web designers to aggregate earned media and update the website. I no longer have to do that for my own personal projects, or if I want to grow a new brand organically. Some of the smaller boutique clients I consult with too; I'm excited to show them Authory, as many smaller companies aren't aggregating their earned media, and often haven't even thought about it until they get closer to investment funding, or otherwise different types of marketing/sales opportunities; and at that point, when they are asked for a portfolio and don't have it, it changes the perspective of the interested party. Authory solves this problem.
Pros: Not only for Journalists, Writers, Thought Leaders; Authory aggregates your publications, and has features that allow newsletters, as well as new subscribers. To me this means huge time savings, automation, and a way to market and scale start-ups, or otherwise existing companies who are at a stage wanting to grow; one-person or small consulting firms; ANYONE who is interested in creating and maintaining organization, assembling earned or paid media, and ease in growing their brand. Authory presents visually with a clean appearance. The features are comprehensively useful and relevant, without being overwhelming. The other three products I was using were inconvenient with time, editing, and promotion. Authory combines those tasks AND offers additional relevant features in a comprehensive yet simple, and automated way.
Cons: This question is not applicable as Authory is great.
"Authory: a tool for writers who get published"
Overall: Given all that it offers, Authory is a great deal at $10 a month. Pay annually, and it drops to $8/month. It has replaced the ugly bullet list of articles on my website. It is an elegant and essential tools for writers to connect with readers.
Pros: Setup is easy: provide your email address and a password, enter your byline, and list the websites where you’ve been published. Authory’s virtual spiders do the rest, capturing your work and spinning it all together on your very own Authory portfolio page. Your articles are full-text searchable and sortable, and in thumbnail view include the article’s primary art (or you can easily add your own). The articles are also fully archived, so you’ll never lose your past work due to the reorganization or demise of its home website. Word counts? Every article lists them. Social media performance? Authory tracks shares, likes, and comments for each article on Facebook, Twitter, and Pinterest. Ability to organize your writings in collections by year, topic, publication type? Of course. And Authory offers its own email subscription service, which allows up to 500 of your fans to be notified whenever you publish something new—regardless of where it appears.
Cons: Authory is simple in its user interface but sophisticated in its performance. It managed to locate all of my articles from three publication websites in a matter of minutes. It was unable to locate any articles on a fourth website, I suspect because that site’s articles are not searchable by author. All it took was one email to Authory support, and within a day my articles were there in my portfolio. On yet another site, my byline is listed differently than elsewhere, and I had to enter that article manually. But that, too, is a simple process. Frankly, it is hard to think of any features that should be added to Authory, because the platform is so tightly focused in terms of function.
"Using Authory as a Freelance Writer"
Overall: I am not currently pursuing freelance work but I think it would be ideal for sharing writing samples especially with the Share link options.
Pros: I like the clean presentation and the ability to forefront groups of articles. It also does a good job of picking up new articles from specified sources making it low maintenance after initial setup.
Cons: Authory is easy to use but I wish it had better tools for sorting and removing articles that are added in bulk. If you have a large number from any one source and don't want to include all of them it becomes a bit unwieldy. I also wish Authory had links that weren't marked "nofollow". Then they would show up in search engines. That may have been a decision made for their own SEO but it does make the product less desirable.
"At last a solution for someone who writes on different platforms/newspapers/ journals"
Overall: Excellent experience until now and I hope that it will increase its functionality more. I am fully satisfied and recommend it to others.
Pros: I am writing for different newspapers and magazines (before internet era) and on different websites . It has been always challenging to bring everything I have written at one place both for myself and my readers. In the beginning I set up a personal website and used to manually scanned articles and publish them on my page. Once newspapers started publishing online then started providing linkages from the website. However once social media started it became very difficult to combine all these platforms. It was also becoming difficult to keep track of my own posts and the number had increased. Recently I was introduced to Authory and I am amazed to see that even their free trial had full functionality. Apart from brining all your posts, articles, blogs including scientific articles at one place both for you and any reader who want to follow you it also tracks any retweets, Facebook posts by others. In analytical mode you could see which article or post is doing better than others. Amazing thing is that its simple easy to setup and then every thing is done automatically.
Cons: I would like to see different templates which I could modify and then share with my readers who would like to follow me. How this fist page should look is very important. If small snippets of articles on websites could be shown that will attract users.
"Perfect Portfolio Platform"
Overall: A pleasure to work with such a responsive company
Pros: Ease of search and filter for my readers.
Cons: Menu of document types not easy to find. Readers miss it just above the search windows
