Gravity Legal also costs less than Lawpay (the other payment processor that integrates with Lawcus) because there is no monthly fee. The lower cost is the main reason I chose Gravity. Cons The big idea behind Gravity Legal and Lawpay is that they will hold a client's credit card number (or other payment info) for a lawyer and the lawyer can then charge the payment method as needed. This is supposed to be a great substitute for the hassle of managing a client trust account. The flaw with Gravity Legal is that there is NO WAY TO KNOW WHEN THE CLIENT'S STORED CARD HAS EXPIRED. So, a lawyer could spend a month working for a client, charge the client's card, and only find out that the card has expired when it is declined. There is no way of checking a card's expiration date in Gravity Legal's user portal beforehand. I inquired and was told this was to protect the card information, but PCI rules do not require encryption of the last 4 digits of a card or the expiration date and this information is available on other card processing platforms, such as Square.
