Pros Very easy to use, capture anything on screen, then edit to suit your needs. I often make screen shots of software, then edit to publish at a support site. Snagit has lots of options both for an easy cleaning up of the image and to annotate it, to enhance the important details. Cons Can't find any weak spots in this product. Pros Easy to use, easy to send to colleagues, saves a lot of explanations on what you send. For instance, let's say there is a mistake on a piece of software. You screen capture the result and show it in your next email Cons Snagit removed one of the modes of saving a capture, that included the transparent. Not sure why because it was super useful to send something that was not square or round. I dont understand why we can only save as jpg or tiff now. They allow you to make professional looking assets to enhance training materials, or provide support via email and text. Financial Coach Financial Services Used the software for: 6-12 months ### "Snagit - from underused to most used" February 2, 2023 5.0 Snagit is a must-have tool particularly if you are creating tutorials or demos, and want to simplify the way the receiver understands or digests the information. It's an alternative to Loom with additional bells and whistles that will make creating educational content easier. Pros I was familiar with Snagit but I didn't purchase a license until a few months ago. It wasn't until I attended one of their free webinars that I finally learned how to use it and was able to get rid of a few subscriptions including Loom. Even though I had used Snagit before I was only familiar with a handful of features. What a waste! Snagit is a powerful tool and I quickly realized it was one of my most underused tools. One of my favorite features is the ability to use Screencast. Snagit Is great for screen captures and recording. Screencast is a video hosting site that doesn't have the same limitations Loom has. Cons Snagit is not a video editor, you would need something like Camtasia. Although you can add markups and such to screen captures Snagit is limited to the editing you can do with video. It is my go to app for screen and video sharing and storing. Pros Ease of use. Screen captures when software dies offer that. Video captured when sender does not select share properly. Usually do not edit, augment what I capture. Great for family tree charts, clips of documents, map clips to print. Cons I would like snag it to be on my win 11 bottom task bar. August 8, 2022 5.0 Pros I know that there is so much more to this software, but I mainly use it to capture video and screen grabs. This is great for training employees and it is easy to use. My favorite aspect of it is that there is a smaller window that can sit on the side of the screen instead of the whole editor being open at all times. I also like that you can utilize different features for note taking. I came from using the Snipping Tool and the features of Snag it really customize and personalize your screenshots. Cons I do not have any complaints with the software. The only thing I would say is that the software design of the tool itself looks a little outdated. I love using the screen grab with arrows and content boxes to help tell a story to clients, customers, or support desks. The process is 1. open Snagit 2. frame object 3. save 4. add in arrows, etc. 5. copy and paste into an email. Pros Simple to use Affordable Quality Creates nice looking grabs Lots of add-ons and features included in the package Cons I am not sure I have a con. They have built a really good product. Pros My favorite feature about Snagit is that not only are you able to take high quality screenshots but it also stores them in a library that is also historical and organizes your screenshots by application as well as time. Cons The UI does look a little dated and integration between other cloud storage options such as OneDrive is not the cleanest and could use a refresh. Pros 1.Snagit provides different options to take the screenshots. 2.It provides different tools to highlight the area in captured image. 3.It's ability to capture with built in system commands like 'PrintScreen' is also awesome. 4.Its ability to include the existing image helps to modify the existing images. They are easy to make and easy to follow. Pros I have been using Snagit for over two years now. I can easily capture screen shots from my desktop to create detailed manuals to assist others to make entries or manipulate and print reports from any program I use in HR. Once I capture an image I can circle, or arrow to highlight important areas to ensure the reader of my document knows what is important. I can attach these to a Word document, or send in the body of an email for clarity on a subject. Cons I have not discovered any downsides yet. No other software has had this many pros. Pros What we like most about Snagit is the fact that the software is reliable while being extremely user-friendly. The controls are intuitive and one knows what to press without even reading any manuals. There are options to record system audio and/or microphone audio; with a click of a button, one has many options to use the software. Cons I cannot think of any cons. Tons of functionality is built in and the two apps (Snagit, and Snagit Editor), are meant to work together seamlessly. Cons Snagit's scrolling window only worked for a hot second and that was several years ago. Even after numerous updates it still fails. Snagit Editor \*was\* solid up until recently, when they released their new major version. Now, it crashes multiple times a day. Often, I need to open up the task manager to force close it. Pros For a long time I used my computer's default snipping tool. Snagit takes things to a whole new level with editing, callouts, and other capabilities. The always-on widget helps me capture what I need quickly. Cons Sometimes there is a lag in starting the program or making a capture. Pros It records videos hours long, can easily use webcam and system audio, never crashes. it works exactly like it says it will. Screen capture is so easy and the editing options are fun, easy, and make me look really good! I've had other people comment on my instructional screen captures. I love that I pay for it once and have it forever. Cons I've tried, but I can't figure out how to edit videos.
