Manager, Simulation Products Computer Software Used the software for: 2+ years ### "SnagIt 2024 'Upgrade' Not Useful" April 22, 2024 2.0 I first purchased SnagIt in 2007 and have been using it almost daily since then. I recently thought to try upgrading from the 2007 release to the 2024 version, but found it unsuitable for my purposes, so I deleted it and went back to the 2007 version. I use the software to capture screen images, crop them, modify the color palette and add annotations, but the new version was not able to do this satisfactorily so I gave up. The upgrade was a complete waste of my time and money. Pros I really like the old SnagIt 2007 version which does exactly what I need it to for image capture, editing and annotation. Cons SnagIt 2024 was unsuitable for my purposes so I gave up using it Review Source JD Jodie D. Missing corner rounding for the canvas and floating images on Windows. It's available only on Mac. Over the years it has become more cumbersome to use and requires more power from your computer. Pros Snagit can be somewhat quick if you know where to go in the program. I have n=been using for almost 20 years. The program used to be much simpler to use and take less memory on your computer. Cons Too many functions that can be considered gadgets. Pros Ease of use - When I was first introduced to its features by a fellow worker, I was working at a company as a Mechanical Designer. I was already familiar with the Alt-Print screen command and was pretty much delighted when I discovered the Snagit features and ease-of-use. Cons As a computer worker since the '70's, I had had previous similar capabilities as Snagit with engineering software and with other software in college while getting my Graphic Design Technology degree. I use it every day. Pros It is such an easy application to use. I love that I can use it for all my training needs - screen prints of my other apps are vital to training and reporting needs. I love the delay feature on the capture - this makes it easy to capture dropdown lists. Cons I know it sounds hokey, but i honestly cannot think of anything I do not like about Snag-It Switched from [Microsoft Visual Studio](https://www.capterra.com/p/80230/microsoft-visual-studio/) it was not easy to use at all. My interactions with Snagit support over manys years has always been flawless. It is my position that anyone that works in IT that does not have Snagit is at a significant dissadvantage the cost of which far exceeds the ridiculously low cost of the software. Pros The ability to grab the text from a screen capture alone is worth the price of the software. Cons The removal years ago of the button to hide/display the tool properties side bar.
