See note above about OCR and library searching. Pros Easy of use with native snapshot key commands. Easy to customize. Cons I take a lot of snapshots and my least favorite aspect of using the product is navigating finding older snapshots. I would love the feature of automatic OCR for all screenshots with a robust search functionality. Let me search on dates or times and for terms used in the OCR of my snapshots. A perfect example is the Apple Photos app. Please just added that functionality into your product and I'll be a super fan! Review Source JG James G. I start with Snagit first and only if I need other features do I resort to other software. Pros Its ease of use. With Snagit I can copy the entire screen or just a portion of the screen that is of most use to me. Cons Recently I came across a video online that I could not capture with Snagit. I don't know if that was a change in Snagit's software or a problem on my machine, but there were no error messages to help me troubleshoot. Review Source UR Usman R. Frustrating with editing and annotations Pros Screen capturing features are really intuitive and easy to use. Hassle-free and let's you do exactly what you want to do without editing afterwards Cons Two things I really think that the annotations is all over the place and not really well polished. For example the text having ugly color outline as a default. It looks unprofessional when shared. You have to go about making favorites and switch between tabs for different forms. The 1-2-3 is handy but I would like to see a lot more simple customizations with it. Second, it feels like SnagIt is trying to be too many things. Just give us the best screen capturing in pictures, videos and recordings with intuitive way of editing the pictures and videos and let your other softwares be more broadcasting. April 19, 2024 5.0 Pros Read previous comments... it's easy to use with very little learning curve, it's always available in the top menu bar and captures and shows my clip quickly in the editor. Cons Sometimes it gets buggy, like when I click on the red circle to select/capture an image, it clears my entire desktop and the content is no longer visible on the screen. I have used it to save logos, and images for my websites. Pros I love the screenshots and the ability to save in different formats. Sometimes I use the OCR to capture text, which is really helpful to save data. I like that I can easily edit the size, crop an edit images, and even edit pixels and quality of the image. I use it to create how-to video and handouts for customer training and support. I also use it to communicate with graphic designers and tech support for other apps. I've been a constant user for well over 10 years. I also have their other software Camtasia and the two work seamlessly. Pros I've been using Snagit for at least 10 years and am on the inexpensive annual maintenance plan where I get all updates and latest version. Note: not a monthly subscription but an annual fee. It's a bargain. I use it for customer support, training, and providing feedback to other software vendors. The captures are high quality and easy to retrieve, edit, share. It's one of my constantly used apps. Cons I'd like a little more options for adding arrows, call-outs, and text post-capture. What they have is functional and easy to use. I'd just like to easily customize things for personal preference. For it's basic intended use of screen capture it's everything I need. Upgrades work well. Pros I've used used Snagit since 2001 or so, starting in the e-learning industry and now in marketing/communications. It's the fastest and simplest tool for screen captures, instructional graphics, annotating feedback to designers, etc. I refuse to go a day without it. Cons So petty but default styles for lots of call outs, step numbers, and shapes are a bit dated as far as drop shadows, color palletes, etc. But I just create custom styles. Review Source LR Leah R. Pros The ease of Snagit and the tab that stays on your computer makes it so easy to access when you need it. We used it at my previous company and recommended we use it at my new company. Cons I wish the editor didn't have to open up every time when you snagged a screen shot. Sometimes I just want to "quick shoot" multiple images. I always recommend it to new Product people that I’m working with. Pros This product makes it really easy to do captures of on screen material. I use it for sharing information about how to design new software or improve existing software. The annotation tools make it really easy to capture and then indicate to developers what I’m trying to talk about. Cons One drawback is that using it as frequently as I do creates a lot of files. I don’t take the time to organize them so they are just in the library organized by date. This actually works pretty well, but it would be nice if I didn’t have hundreds and hundreds of disorganized files to sort through only by date. Review Source JP Joey P. April 19, 2024 5.0 Pros Pros: I have been using Snagit for several years now and it is extremely beneficial to performing day to day operations within my organization. From training manuals and demos, the ability to markup, record, grab text, and use the other features drives professionalism and makes anyone able to do successful creations within Snagit. Cons Cons: There are very minimal cons when using Snag-it. Initially there were issues installing the audio driver on my Mac, but that has since been resolved.
