Literacy Teacher Education Management Used the software for: 2+ years ### "Indispensable Writing Tool" April 29, 2024 4.0 NoRedInk will transform writing and grammar techniques for the user, of that there is no doubt. I have been using it for the last six years in my classroom, and I will continue to use it as long as I can. Pros NoRedInk makes grammar and convention growth and learning an absolute breeze. By utilizing student interests and creating curated sentences that require students to understand the topics on an intimately level, NoRedInk creates a grammar-learning experience that is unmatched by any other product on the market. Getting started is incredibly simple, the product is easy to use, and the free-to-use subscription contains an impressive amount of tools and items for students to learn. Cons There is little to dislike, but two main points stand out. One: the price. This is an incredible tool, but that doesn't make the large price tag feel any better. Two: the built-in lessons for some of the topics leave much to be desired. So long as a user is willing to supplement with external lessons and hints, this product goes a long way. It would be really nice to see video tutorials included, similar to those from other products like Khan Academy. Review Source CH Callie H. Teacher Education Management Used the software for: 6-12 months ### "NoRedInk for Middle School ELA" July 14, 2022 5.0 My students have shown significant improvement in spelling and punctuation in their writing using NoRedInk. Their progress is reflected in their state test scores after using NoRedInk regularly throughout the school year in combination with a reading/writing curriculum. Pros My students can use NoRedInk with full independence. I love that it can be used along with direct teacher instruction. Students can complete grammar/conventions practice after viewing a lesson at their own pace. Students are able to choose media, like Shrek or Diary of a Wimpy Kid, that interest them to be used in practice sentences to keep them engaged - they love it! In addition to the grammar practice, the Guided Drafts and pre-writing resources on NoRedInk have been invaluable. Both features make writing simple and straight-forward for students at all levels in a classroom. I love that NoRedInk grades student grammar practices and compiles data by class, making it simple to view student strengths and weaknesses. The Guided Drafts also include attached rubrics making grading simple. Cons I would like to see NoRedInk allow inputting grades into PowerSchool, Google Classroom, or other LMS. The Rowland Reviewer Consumer Services Used the software for: 1-2 years ### "Rowland's Review of NoRedInk" November 9, 2023 1.0 My overall experience with NoRedInk was one filled with unnecessary struggles and frustration. Pros The overall basic functions of the website, such as logging in, signing up, the user interface, etc. are all straight forward and easy to use. Cons The website fails to be an effective way to learn due to their unorthodox system for doing work; their attempt to make the user correct every mistake fails in it's purpose and results in something akin to a test of patience, rather than causing the user to learn. Teacher E-Learning Used the software for: 1-2 years ### "Engaging ELA program with diagnostics, reports, quizzes" August 14, 2021 5.0 I really enjoy using NoRedInk to engage my students in their grammar and writing practice. It is also very helpful to use for assessment and documentation purposes. Pros I love that it asks the students about their interests firsts to engage them in their learning along the way. It will use the names of their friends and favorite things gs to keep them interested. Cons It can be a little difficult for lower level students to work with. I am 4th grade and it seems geared towards 3rd grade and up, but some students who are mentally/academically on levels around 1st-2nd grade will struggle. Review Source JJ Julie J. Teacher Education Management Used the software for: 2+ years ### "Engage Kids with NoRedInk" October 26, 2021 5.0 NoRedInk is really easy to use and gives students opportunities to practice skills and learn the fine points of grammar in a light-hearted format. I use it for a bell ringer or as supplementary work when I have a substitute. Pros NoRedInk engages them before they even receive an assignment by having them choose the content of future work. With just a few clicks, the student is set up to practice writing and grammar in the context of their favorite bands, sports teams, and TV shows. Cons Every once in a great while, a student claims that they don't like any of the choices NoRedInk offers for content. This is more a problem with students than with the software. Educator Education Management Used the software for: Less than 6 months ### "Assessment in ELA" January 20, 2022 5.0 This is my first year using the program and I see a benefit to my students with the corrective feedback I am able to provide through the program. Pros I like that teachers can use this product to write notes to students to help them improve their written expression. I also like the features that allow students to practice grammar and convention of written expression. Cons Setting up the students in the No Red Ink classroom isn't easy. Cons Sometimes the sentences are difficult to understand or the click boxes malfunction.
