### "Overall good product for a large agency, but not very easy to use and expensive for solo practice."

It was a good product for large agency and supervisor work. It was also good for highly detailed treatment plans and progress notes.

Pros

I liked the ability to be very detailed in treatment planning and progress notes if I needed. I also liked the 'load previous note' so that I only had to update changes from session to session and could write progress notes fairly quickly. Psych Advantage was also easy to use as a supervisor, as I could view interns notes for feedback.

Cons

Its complicated to use, as many of our therapists needed hours of training. We had many part time therapists and it seemed cumbersome for them to remember all the steps when they weren't using it every day. I also didn't like that there are so many individual tabs/pages for each client note. Going to private solo practice I decided to use another product, as psych advantage is more cumbersome and expensive than other EHR.

ease of operation. Customer service is very good and reliable. You can now call directly to the department you need instead of waiting for a call back from them.

Pros

Product is easy to use. We have never had any issues with the program.

Cons

You can only have one patient window open at a time. Other software programs allow you to have more than one opened. It would make it easier for us. If we are posting a payment, etc, on one patient, and I answer the phone and need to open another patient window, I need to end my first window and have to stat over.

The software could definitely be more user friendly. It can be a bit hard to navigate and is difficult to set up.

Pros

Features such as scanning paperwork in easily, convenience of searching for patients by name or account number, and auto-fill with patient/clinic information when printing are all great.

Cons

Our clinic does TMS therapy which is very different from a normal psychiatric clinic, so some features could be updated to be better suited for us. For example, the daily progress note tab could have a different layout to better suit our needs. However, I do know one of my coworkers was working with Compulink support to design a new tab layout for us, which is excellent customer service.

### "Updates make this worse for long periods of time"

All software and support have issues.

Pros

Window smart, concise exam templates if you pick the right ones. Good reports and data.

Cons

Updates usually make this worse. Currently Jan 2020 to now July 2020 the ERx program Compulink internally wrote creates 4-6 hours of EXTRA staff work. It is literally easier to enter a medication in the medication tab in the patient record then PAPER write the Rx and hand to the patient than it is to clean and send the Rx via ERx.

It's been a great experience and has helped drastically with my billing and reconsiliation.

Pros

I have been using compulink over 4 years now. At the time of my implementation it was very one consuming to get trained. I must say it has been easy training new staff and customer service response time has drastically improved in the past 2 years. the simplicity from chart to billing to resolution of claims makes all the time learning implementation worth every minute.

Cons

I dont like so the little charges for pulling eligibility.

### "Server based program requires a lot of training, is expensive up front, and crashes frequently"

I wish I had gone with a cloud based program in the 1st place. I stayed with Compulink for 9 years because of the initial investment and hours of training I had put into it, but it crashed on me (or my front desk staff) numerous times making it impossible to do notes, scheduling, billing, etc. for any given work day. I'm frustrated I stayed with the software for this long, now I need to transfer 900+ clients to a different software.

Pros

I can do scheduling, notes, and billing from the same software. It also has picture capabilities. Received over 40+ hours of training when 1st purchased.

Cons

Not user friendly and can't access without being in the office, or connecting remotely. It seems like any updates to Windows, or the server, or my computer all seem to lock the software, making it unopenable. The current support system didn't work for me. I'd have to call and leave a message, or send an email request, and expect a response when it's convenient for support...usually NOT convenient for me. I called when it was convenient for me. I needed help then. Lot's of clicking and opening different programs in order to send bills, process payment, etc. Lots of steps for a simple task.

I did not enjoy anything in particular about Compulink.

Cons

The program was not user friendly for the optical or medical staff. The training period was incredibly short and after weeks of trying to figure out the program, still found myself confused.

We have had a great experience with Compulink.

Pros

What I like most about this software was we have several different types of users that needed to use this software including Aesthetics, Optical, Contacts and an Optical Lab. We were able to customize this software to meet our needs which no other software we looked at could do.

Cons

I can't say the inventory portion is hard to use or is bad, but it be made to be a bit more user friendly to help save time.

Streamlined my exams,insurance billing, recalls, insurance integration.

Pros

Great customer service, extremely responsive, talented trainers made the transition easy. Day-to-day use is worry-free and super intuitive. I can concentrate on taking care of patients and compulink does the rest.

Cons

I wish compulink could communicate with insurance companies for eligibility, copays, routine visit vs. Medical visits, deductibles. That would be amazing.

Overall it has been great, but the continued updates on things our office has figured out becomes burdensome for us.

Pros

Once you understand the layouts, it is very functional to use. It makes seeing repeat patients very easy and efficient.

Cons

The updates! There are constant updates that cause us to be very frustrated. After each update we have issues with a few things and fixing them becomes a time consuming disaster. I've continuously have spent 10+ hours trying to get things back to normal after updates.

There are a lot features within this program.

Cons

The program is quite complicated and can be difficult to navigate. There are many many glitches and they typically take a long time to get worked out. When working with tech support, it takes numerous phone calls to get a resolution to an issue. It seem the things that we want to be able to do with this program, just cannot be done or we have to pay extra to have it written for us.

Pros

We bought Compulink Advantage for Physical Therapy because we need it. In our experience, Compulink has good salespeople, not good engineers. They hire nice front desk people. The technicians seem to be helpful; they try to fix the problems, but all the problems with the software come back over, and over, and over.

Cons

We found a lot of inconsistencies, it crashed very often, and out posting would disappear in the ledger! We also had claims that left the system with inconsistent NPI numbers, leading to wrong processing by insurances. Some technicians acted like the users were the problem and not the software. Compulink stopped working at least once a month, and then I needed to call the technicians. They would need to reinstall exe files, which would make it work until the next crash. After that, my records/databases were off. Many of my postings were gone and my receivables were skyrocketing. Poorly design statement forms. For example, the regular statement does not start from the beginning of treatment with the balance . The statement shows the first line as a "previous" balance. Our patients found the statements very confusing. When I reported this to Compulink, they advised us to educate patients how to read their confusing statements. They offered using other forms like "sort" that were even more confusing for the patients. Posting numbers do not add up. You can see the outstanding balance; however, when you go to the specific column in the ledger you may not find the amounts.

Overall Compulink has provided my practice with management of all aspects of the practice from EHR to eyeglass and contact lenses ordering, to electronic billing. It is a complex system and not the easiest to teach to new staff.

The software interface with VSP and otherprograms, electronic billing function

Cons

The constant upgrades. Once you learn how a feature works, it gets changed. Also, how some features really never work like they are supposed to . Constant problems with errors.

I love all of the features esp the patient communication, portal, web reg and EHR.

Cons

Implementation was difficult. I felt that we went live too early and were not adequately prepared. A lot of the software was not working properly when we went live either.

Pros

The ability to customize Compulink combined with it's comprehensive functionality make this product the leader in Optometric EHR. Easy to use and easy to train. The support with Compulink is top notch.

Cons

At times there can be delays with routine maintenance for the Cloud based version. But one call to support gets us back on track.

Compulink Business Systems has supplied my practice with top-notch comprehensive EHR software since I changed software vendors in approximately 2012 with incorporation of ongoing patient EHR and billing software changes in the industry and have given me the opportunity to progress with the CMS stimulus and overall medical EHR and billing requirements in a relative seamless and successful ongoing progression in my practice of Podiatry. The recent mandated diagnostic changes of ICD-10 have been aggressively and comprehensively managed for integration in knowledge base and implementation by Compulink Business Systems. I have found the process to be very user friendly and hope that as well as Compulink Business Systems has accepted and made available the changes and conversion of ICD-9 to ICD-10, that I myself will continue to progress with these changes in a seamless successful transition to meet the requirements of coding for patient health improvement.

Nothing, I like everything to date.

Pros

The Compulink Advantage software is very good for our mobile eye clinic. We find it reliable, reasonably straight forward and clear.

Cons

Updates to the software cause some issues since we are not able to spend much time learning or relearning things that have been changed. And, the use of color is not good in that the visual aspects of the display leave much to be desired.

We do everything and the doctor really likes to use it because it is easy once it is set up for them

Pros

It is very easy to use and great customer service

Cons

They still are developing and you must have super users to always be entering things to a database so if you are a small business it is much hard to set up with limited amount of employees. Also they charge you for things so be aware of what you are getting charged for.

### "Stay far away."

They make it more difficult to manage your practice and be profitable, the opposite of their claims. We've got 25 years in their software, so we are heavily invested. I don't think they will change because the owner doesn't really care about their Optometry clients. That's the feeling we have.

Pros

Patient scheduling was good, but they seem to make it worse with updates. Spectacle POS better than original set-up.

Cons

You have to be very tech savvy to have everything work properly. It is very tedious to document an exam. They lost our inventory on conversion to the cloud and didn't seem to care. A lot of excuses and we had to re-enter our inventory. We've lost thousands of dollars because their was a glitch in their VSP interface and we get the "oh well, we're trying to fix it".

We have used product for 14 years, decent but as said above, too many upgrades with bugs.

Pros

Compulink is user friendly and works well with IRIS/AAO.

Cons

Too many upgrades that delete previous functionality. Every upgrade requires fixing. Support response is fairly quick but can't fix many problems from upgrades. Patient portal is extremely frustrating for both patient and staff use.
