August 19, 2022 5.0 I tested davinci resolve because I was looking for a free software to my taste. After having tested several software I stayed a while on this one that I find particularly efficient. After having learned with some difficulty the tools of Davinci I felt the power of this economic software, which does not force the hand for a subscription. Pros Davinci resolve has a very complete free version, it is a powerful tool for etalloning, the graphics and sound effects are of a quality well above the industry standard. Cons The interface of davinci resolve is a bit confusing, some features are not very optimized and it lacks good tutorials. Some tools can also be difficult to find. Review Source kK kyle K. November 20, 2020 5.0 My experience was solely based on DaVinci resolve (the free version) so my experience might differ from the full version. A friend recommended it to me and since I wanted to make quick video edits (for classes and personal purposes) I found it awesome since it's free but seems like it's not, given the number of features and seamless experience it provides. Pros This software is amazing, it provides a seamless experience that most video editors don't, also this doesn't mean they lack features or important aspects as other software. I highly recommend it! Cons Even though this software is indeed great, what bothered me a bit is the fact that it doesn't allow to extract pure audio in the mp3 format, only .mp4 format, which could be annoying when one needs to remove a soundtrack for example! Pros I recently started to use DaVinci Resolve after seeing a friend using it. I can tell that the free version of the software is no less than paid versions of other softwares available. One of the big advantages for DaVinci Resolve is the color correction. I also enjoy motion graphics and visual effects as well. We still use it in tandem with other video editing softwares, although it could be a stand alone solution easily! Pros Affordability is one of the biggest advantages to DaVinci Resolve. The "base" version is completely free, and has A TON of features to it that truly embody a professional-grade video editing software. The "premium" version is called DaVinci Resolve Studio and that has a one-time fee of $299, which includes future updates. In addition, DR maintains all the same general functionality found in leading competitors' programs (ie Premiere Pro). Thus in comparison to its leading competitors, either way it presents a considerably more economical approach without losing functionality. Cons For those not well-versed in video editing in general the software can be intimidating. Pros DaVinci Resolve is really very easy to get started with, I have used Premiere Pro for quite a while and found DaVinci Resolve easier to do the things I needed to. I also really like the simple exports straight to video services like Vimeo and YouTube. Cons I have experienced some difficulties understanding and using the export tool, great if you want to just go with whatever it suggests but more tricky if you want to customise. I'm blown away by the free version, I can't imagine the paid version honestly, it must be amazing! Pros I really like DaVinci Resolve! Even the free version is a very advanced video editing software. It's very professional, and it's great for the more advanced editor. In my opinion the free version of DaVinci Resolve is just as great as the paid version of Final Cut Pro.
