Pros I love that Krita is free and useful for Texturing, Editing Drawing, Animation, Import/Export, and more! Cons It looks a little outdated and can be frustrating to figure out where the tools are at until you get used to it. It is very useful for my needs as a 3D artist who mostly focuses on hand painted textures. I also love drawing and painting with it. Also, I like that you can export files into almost any file type that is needed. Pros It is free and open source. It is part of my workflow, I use it to edit textures for 3D models. It is also great for drawing and painting digital art. It also has the capability to do 2D animation. Cons The Animation tools are better than photoshop but I really wish they were simpler and more intuitive like Aseprite. Overall it is good but difficult to get used to, however I don't use that function so much. I also would like to see a separate RGB channel editor like Photoshop. Pros It is a complex software with a lot of tools and other options available. It is also free and open source. I enjoyed the brush customizations options which is a really good thing to have in an art software in my opinion. Cons It feels too complex for what it is. The GUI kind of feels like Photoshop, but it is even less intuitive than the later. It also consumes a lot of RAM and lacks a dedicated customer support. Pros It is free, which is rare amongst art softwares. The library of brushes and tools variant is huge and nice. Cons I find it a bit slow, in terms of performance. I do everything Entertainment Used the software for: 1-2 years ### "My thoughts on Krita:" October 8, 2023 5.0 Krita is a free, reliable, and fairly easy to use digital paint software that really shines when compared to other software, because of its features, and especially because of its pricing. Its very straight forward with its features, and very easy to get lost in creation with just how simple it is to start up and get painting. Personally, I've had no problems. Other than a little bit of learning when it comes to animating, importing brushes, and some quirks with dealing with vectors, I'd say I can't think of a better software for people who don't have the time or money to get something like Adobe Illustrator. Art, animation, graphic design, texturing and really anything you want to create in the bounds of 2D (and with the excellent pricing of only $0.00@), Krita is your tool for your needs. Pros First let me say, its free, but boy does it function like a paid for software. It's easy to use, easy to animate, (after you learn how to set it up and use which isn't very hard) easy to draw and easy to have fun and be productive. Krita comes with a lot of different tools, like a ton of brush types for detail, layers for organizing and ease of use, and vector tools for your graphic design needs. It's also constantly being updated, so if there are any issues of features lacking (which there are some) it should be fixed or added in future updates. Also, for my 3D modelers out there, you can use Krita not only for making textures, but use a function in Blender called 'edit externally' to quickly switch between to the two for maximized efficiency. Cons It's hard to really organize the workspace and get it personalized to your needs. It does have workspace templates which normally suffice, but that doesn't excuse how tedious it is to customize to your liking. Vectors seem to be buggy, but I don't really understand how to use them, so that I can say how good or bad they really are. My main issue is when I make textures for 3D models, it's hard to import different brushes, and one can easily get turned off by how annoying it can be sometimes. Pros the features are definitely easy to use, unlike adobe photoshop or illustrator that a bit complex and takes longer time to master, krita is far more easy to navigate and it makes quite good for beginner artists. Cons well, i think making the animation features easy to use, and even though its easy, its still doesn't compare to photoshop that is has some cool FX effects you can add to your artwork, or illustrator that is used for vector art, even clip studio paint has a feature that allows you to do vector artwork, so i think maybe adding features for effects that can make art more beautiful instead of drawing the whole thing from scratch. I downloaded it initially for the low/free pricetag, but it has proven itself to be a formidable competitor to the insanely expensive Photoshop. Pros I'm no professional artist or photo editor, but I have used Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator in the past. The feature set built into Krita is certainly comparable to Photoshop's but affordable for everyone! Krita is 100% free for everyone from their website, or a mere $10 on Steam which provides automatic updates and helps support the developers. I tried out the free download but ended up purchasing it on Steam because I wanted to support the hard work put in by the developers. Cons Vector graphics are not on the same level as say, Adobe Illustrator, but the basics are there, and that is better than nothing. I recommend Inkscape as a free vector graphics program. With tools like automatic fill by adding a couple reference brush strokes, or extended features that are not specifically for illustration such as Editing and Animation, I've been able to create things relatively fast and well. Overall I think this programs is more than welcome trying out and I absolutely recommend it to anyone. Pros Easy-to-Use in general, with different workspaces and customizable workflows.Packed with features and many brushes.Animation-Making friendly, intuitive controls.Great at Illustration, with different brush engines, stabilizers and assistant tools, including also a way to paint by doing a couple of colored strokes and then automatically getting parts of the drawing painted. And a point that could be added is to edit or annotate pdf documents that have several and to open them on a scroll of pages and not on several layers because when you save the document becomes one and only one page which is searing after Krita is not directly made for that, but it would have been an added advantage. For starters, it is free but above all it is powerful to the point where I can advise it to anyone if they want to have a versatile program in what is drawing, animation photo editing and now vector drawing. but that is only the beginning because the program is always updated (bug correction or addition of new features ...) and topical. In addition, explanatory tutorials are even offered and free to either start from nothing or to go from a program like this one and they are extraordinarily successful. It does have less of the same features, but this is what I would consider as an alternative for those that want to make a start in the digital art industry. This has not been designed for image editing and make sure you do not get it from a malware network. Pros This provides all the tools you need for graphic/concept design. It has a great variety of brush styles to choose from, and I found the pressure senses with my Wacom pen to be amazingly effective. You have the ability to rotate your composition and keep your work divided into layers. The template is very well organized and is free to install. Cons Although I have not experienced it yet, but what does concern me is when updates are made to this platform and how it can affect my desktop.
