I have been using it since August 14, 2016 (!!) and I still recommend it to everyone who asks and still buy the paid version every year. That kind of loyalty speaks for itself I think. Pros I love the fun easy to look at and uplifting interface. I also am obsessed with the sheer number of calendars I can sync into it and the functionality of them when being accessed via Fantastical. Cons I had a hard time understanding why calendars synced via iOS vs directly with Fantastical was different. It is a big deal as to where it is "hosted". I can easily see the time zones and select which calendar sets I want to appear. The customer support is prompt and works with you until the issue is resolved. Pros I like the pop-up calendar in the menu bar, enabling me to quickly see my month at a glance as well as what's going on this week. It is easy to see and change the time zones. I can make entries using more natural language. Cons Some of the nicer features require a subscription. I had purchased a license earlier on, but lost the pro features when they went to a subscription model. It certainly makes managing my calendar much easier, but I'm not happy with the shift to a subscription model. Pros \- Scheduling tasks with natural language is by far my favorite feature of Fanstastical. I love to be able to say "Meeting with John next Wednesday at 10:am for lunch" and Fanstastical is able to parse it into a meaningful calendar event, add the location, invite people, etc. - It has a very decent search tool, making it very easy to find future and past events. - I also love that I get weather information right in the calendar. Cons \- The recent changes in price structure made the software less appealing. I bought the software a while back, but then they've switched to a subscription plan, which means that the software I've paid for is now "free" for basic usage. I would find hard to justify paying a monthly fee just to enjoy a few enhancements to calendar apps that are already good enough. It is my go-to calendaring program. Pros Very easy to use. Perfect integration with Microsoft Exchange/Outlook. All sync, calendar viewing, Zoom integration functions work well. Ability to copy/paste a calendar item saves a suprising amount of time compared to re-creating three or four instances of an identical or similar event for which a repeating meeting is not appropriate. Cons When modifying an existing calendar item/meeting, there needs to be a “Do you wish to save changes?” dialogue box. It’s too easy to inadvertently modify a meeting and push the mistake to all attendees. New features are continually added. Apart from the natural language entry for appointments there are very well designed views (monthly, weekly and daily and the brand new quarterly views are available) and basic necessities (sync with calendar providers such as MS Outlook, Exchange, iCloud, Google Calendar etc.) there are lots of advanced features. You can let clients make appointments to your calendar ("Openings"), similar to calendly. Just send your client a link and let them chose a time that fits them and where you are available. You set up "Meeting Templates" according to your use case, e.g. I have a 1 hour Coaching session. You can send out "Meeting Proposals" similar to doodle. Colleagues reply to a poll what time works best for them. All proposed times are blocked on your calendar, until the meeting is finalized, making sure you don't double book. If the appointment has a link (e..g for Zoom or MS Teams etc.) joining the meeting is just one click away... Pros I like that Fantastical is very well designed and easy to use, while giving you tons of features. I used to use 3 or 4 different services to accomplish what I can do with one app now. Cons I am generally not a fan of the subscription model, but on the other hand 40$/year don't break the bank. So I decided to live with it. The free version is great, but lacks some of the features of the paid version. Pros Fantastical is very easy to use. It has a pleasant user interface with flexible views. Adding events is easy and it has smart text ability. It integrates with multiple apps like Things, Mem, Airmail and others. Cons I don't use Task Management as there are other apps that provide more features. Sometimes the glitches are a problem though and it is hard to deal with this reliability issue when running a professional business. Pros I like the fun and clean Fantastical interface a lot and the variety of calendar views that are available. The price is also better than many other calendar options. Cons Sometimes Fantastical has a glitch where people book an appointment but it no longer sends them a Zoom link. Simply type out the event you want in a normal, natural language, and the software will understand and add it to your calendar. For example : "supper with team at Darcy's at 6pm next Monday" and it will contact your team, send an invite and schedule you in! Cons What I don't like about the software, is the notifications on Mac that do not seem to fade away. So much better than anything else out there because it is highly intuitive, clean interface and works well with others. Pros Super intuitive and easy to use. The fact that it integrates with Todoist is great, so all my outstanding todo's are shown on my calendar for the day too. Pros The natural language event adding is wonderful. I can create an event by just typing 'have lunch with Joe next Wednesday at This Restaurant at 2pm', and Fantastical creates the event at the date + time, adds Joe as an invitee, and sets the location to the address of This Restaurant. Cons It's perhaps a bit pricey, but when you think about everything you get for the price, it is real value for money and I resubscribe every year. Review Source RA Rex A. June 29, 2021 5.0 This app has saved me so much time creating events, and I love the scrolling sidebar when scheduling events with friends/colleagues. The ability to have multiple calendars has been a lifesaver- I can have my home and work calendars on the same view so I can see what I’m scheduling around. Pros I love the different views- day, week, month and agendas. The sidebar is especially useful when looking through your month at a time. On MacOS, I love the menu bar icon that lets you use natural language to create a new event. The natural language works well in iOS/iPadOS as well- you can simply type lunch with someone and it creates an event from 12pm-1pm on its own. It’s a fantastic calendar! Cons The move from one-time purchase to subscription was a bummer for me, but it did automatically unlock all the features I had paid for when I purchased it. March 2, 2021 5.0 The Paid version is awesome, great upgrades all the time and syncs with all the things you need to sync with. Pros I love the way that calendar looks, it's clean but colourful and I like my calendars to be fun to use. After a year or so of using the free version I explored other options as there was an issue with "asking for authorisation key" constantly that I could not get rid of. Ultimately after trying others I realised that nothing else was as easy or enjoyable to use (and the learning curve to learn something new was not worth it!) so I switched to the paid version to get access to the support and additional features. I use it so often that it was worth the investment for me. Whether due to product upgrades or using paid version the error message no longer appeared and Fantastical and I have been playing along happily ever since. Cons I'm not such a fan of the new way that you set the times, with this 24 hour format that highlights the first 2 digits and then the others in scroll type fashion. I preferred it as it was before which meant it was easier to change the time just with the keyboard (less errors that way) Review Source AR Ari R. I'm a tech savvy guy and I love the treats Fantastical provides to its users. The great drawback, and what keeps me from using it, is pricing. I think it's overpriced and the fact it doesn't offer cross platform support leaves it at bay for me. Pros It's probably the most complete calendar there is out there. There're billions of features that will appeal to any user. It's got a great UI - the best I've ever used and it'll sync with both iCloud and Google. Cons I think the greatest con is pricing. I really think it's pricey, that's what stops me from using it as my main driver - in addition to no Android and Windows support. Great way to jump into the next meeting. Cons Timezones - Searching by city seems like a great idea but fails in reality. For example, Orlando is in West Kazakhstan Time according to the app. No way to quickly view my calendar based on a different time zone. Pros I typically use a Calendar app and in a separate reminder app so I really love that both of the apps are integrated into one app, especially since I rely heavily on both my calendar and reminders for work. Cons While I like that all of my tasks and reminders appear in the calendar I don't like that I cannot control which task I see because it's pulling from the reminder app on my phone. It's really easy to use and integrates well with video conferencing tools like Google and Zoom. Cons I wish I could pay a one time fee instead of paying a subscription. Sometimes the calenda syncing is a bit off (but typically straightens out by the end of the day).
