There isn't a single workday when it isn't used. Many tasks would be impossible without it. For tasks that can also be performed with another editor, it makes them significantly more efficient and faster. I don't have enough space here to list all the features I use. And these aren't even all the features that are available, please read on \[sensitive content hidden\]. But this is only the place to begin. The possibility of using macros, which are created with macro commands and scripts (javascript or vbscript), takes the functions to a whole new level. Sometimes it's the little things that make work easier, for example "Auto Marker" its one of small features what I don't want miss by daily work. "Filter" or "batch find/replace" featur are only two off the long list of features what I can't see by other ones. With "Filter" makes daily work faster and easier compare to "find" or only possible because it doesn't work any other way. The filter, search and replace function has special options (e.g. number range, ip range, date/time) that I have never seen by competitors. Many other programs fail, because they are not able to open very large files (especially non-commercial programs), to filter with regex, or are much slower. I am sure that I have forgotten a lot to write here, because there are countless functions that I use in my daily work with emeditor and only notice when I work on another computer (without EmEditor), whether professional or private. For me it is no longer a question whether i should use a commercial or a free editor. The functions, the fast qualified support as well as the continuous improvement and further development make emeditor the first choice for me. Pros functions and performance, as well as the outstanding support that no other editor under Windows provides. I have been working with it for about 15 years now, and it is constantly being developed and optimized. Despite countless features, it is slim and powerful. CSV and Filter features are incomparable Cons There isn't really any area where I think other competitors are better. Since I work almost exclusively with Windows, I have no problem with the editor only being available for Windows. Performance is very important to me, more important than cross-platform compatibility. As a person working in bioscience, I get a lot of data to look after and EmEditor has eased my life. Other people in similar situation should try it too. Pros I work in bioscience and I have tons and tons of data to work with everyday. With other software, it takes time and also a good chunk of resources which affects me a lot while multitasking. EmEditor has been engineered in a way that it takes less resources and still manages to run faster than other software. I don't primarily use it for code editing but its good for some edits that I need to do now and then. Cons I wish the code editor had some typical IDE features. Also, there can be some learning curve so if the developers could work on better user experience, it would be great. It loads them fast and the fin/replace or any update is pretty quick. I like the vertical selection of column text which was very useful when updating columns of data. Cons I don't like the limited features available in the free edition. They can extend the free to 60 days to let users try it out more. Other than that EmEditor can be easy to navigate when multiple tabs are open. I can press Control and number 2 and it will go tab number 2 and so on which will make it easy to jump between tabs.
