### "Make your content visible to the world."

October 22, 2022

4.0

Good and not too problematic, it's just that version management is not very user friendly.

Pros

Compatible with all types of editing software from Adobe, making it easier for me to determine the settings for the results I want.

Cons

I have to spend money separately for Media Encoder software because almost all Adobe Video Audio Editing software uses Media Encoder for rendering.

Alternatives considered

[FFmpeg](https://www.capterra.com/p/234817/FFmpeg/)[Avidemux](https://www.capterra.com/p/173414/Avidemux/)

Reason for choosing Media Encoder

Because all the Adobe software derivatives that I use are compatible with it.

### "High Quality Media Encoder/Exporter Tool from Adobe"

May 9, 2022

5.0

Good, once you familiarize yourself with the exporting process everything is very simple.

Pros

This software is mostly used as a companion to Premiere Pro, Adobe's video editing tool. This software streamlines the rendering process and allows for a variety of formats.

Cons

Ideally this app would be baked directly into Premiere, and perhaps one day it will be.

Alternatives considered

Reason for choosing Media Encoder

As part of the Adobe CC package, it just makes sense to use.

### "An overlooked powerhouse"

August 24, 2021

4.0

Adobe Media Encoder originated as an incredibly powerful encoding tool for Media professionals and those working in the film industry. Some of the most useful features are the ability to render high quality .mov or .mp4 master files complete with captions, according to exact specifications normally provided by a distributor. This is a very useful tool for those looking to deliver high quality master files for DVD creation, online distribution, narrative films, TV shows, and more. While many programs offer their own encoding suite built into their editing program, having a dedicated encoding program is a powerhouse of capability, often overlooked due to niche demand.

Pros

Features Functionality Robust capability Pricing One of the best provided programs for PC - ability to utilize multiple CPUs and GPUS for encoding Integration with adobe suite

Cons

User interface seems outdated and cluttered Lack of ongoing support/improvements Occasional bugs and lack of features.

Alternatives considered

[Media Composer](https://www.capterra.com/p/234585/Media-Composer/)

Reason for choosing Media Encoder

Integration with Adobe software programs, good pricing model, and capabilities not found within other softwares, such as key features related to captioning, codecs, utilization of computer resources efficiently for encoding.

### "Media Encoder is a good tool to render videos into various types of formats"

June 30, 2022

5.0

I am using Media Encoder to encode videos into different formats.

Pros

Media Encoder has a lot of output options, so it is easy to create exactly the type of videos you want. It is also easy to use.

Cons

It is part of the Adobe package that is a paid membership only. There is no way to buy the license for good, which is what I would prefer.

Alternatives considered

[Final Cut Pro](https://www.capterra.com/p/233399/Final-Cut-Pro/)

Reason for choosing Media Encoder

I bought Media Encoder with Adobe Premiere. I tested Final Cut Pro but I really didn't like it.

### "Great Export Tool for AE and Premiere"

September 21, 2025

5.0

Over Media Encoder is great for the price. It's integrated with the Adobe Creative Cloud so it's easy to use with AE and Premiere.

Pros

It's easy to use and is incorporated in Premiere and AE so exporting and sharing videos and animations are easy.

Cons

The video quality of highly compressed files has noticeable artifacting and pixelation. It's fine for the price that you pay but there are $10,000+ software made specifically for TV and high end sharing that give better quality exports at smaller sizes.

### "Good for encoding multiple videos in a queue."

April 11, 2025

4.0

I use media encoder when I need to encode multiple videos, however I prefer encoding video directly in after effects so that I can free up memory to work on other things while it is encoding,

Pros

Media encoder is useful for encoding videos from After Effects and Premiere and it is also good for general encoding. I like the ability to export multiple vidoes at once.

Cons

The programme slows down my mac when I am encoding video. It takes up alot of memory and means you cant work on other things while it is encoding.

### "The Only Media Encoder You Need"

August 3, 2025

5.0

Pros

\-Lots of export options, including image sequences, which was quite handy for me when I needed to convert videos to image sequences to use within Autodesk Maya. -Compression works quite well. When I export a playblast from Maya, the files were usually really massive (1gb+ for a 10 second animation). Media Encoders gets them down to only a few megabytes at the most. -GPU support is great, as it allows me to export way quicker than it was using my CPU.

Cons

\-Cost is too high, like most Adobe software. If this was available to buy outright, then it would likely be better value. -Requires a fair bit of tweaking if you need files to be a very specific size, which would be difficult for someone who doesn't know what things like 'bitrates' or 'codecs' are.

The program is enough that I do not wait for the export to start another project the program in a way that makes me well maintain working time

Pros

Easy of the program with many options in video output to suit all sizes, extensions and platforms ,In addition to facilitating the montage process for 4K materials By proxy feature

Cons

Not accepting import all video extensions or conversionTherefore, we need other programs to do this, and it is very stressful when working on Mac devices that do not have conversion programs that also accept all extensions

### "Best Media Encoder with cons"

November 14, 2022

4.0

Overall, I have great experience with EA. I still recommend it to my video editing perks. The convinience it offers is just awesome.

Pros

\- One of the best experience I have with media encoder is how convenient it is to render series of videos that I have just finish compositing. Such as laderized video lessons. Very convenient.- Another is it's capability to pause current render and push others thay needs to be prioritize.- Of course the arsenal of supported codecs and video format is exhaustive. It is less likely that your format will be missed. - Ease of export. It doesn't matter if you're using Premiere or After Effects - just a quick CTRL+Alt+M does the trick.

Cons

\- Needs a little more time of learning. I wish they would make the buttons more noticeable and larger as it is hardly noticeable specially the Render, Stop and Pause buttons. This gets even smaller on a 4K monitor.- Bugs when rendering. Instances when you render, it freezes, discontinued or return an error.- One more thing is that it takes so much time for EM and say, After Effects to finish the dynamic synching. Takes really long somtimes.

Reason for choosing Media Encoder

Media Encoder is the only viable options when you are using After Effects and Premiere Pro.

### "Ease your video editing workflow with Adobe Media Encoder"

February 15, 2023

5.0

Pros

Adobe Media Encoder is an essential tool for my video editing work. It is very easy to use and allows me to convert video files into a wide variety of formats. I can easily adjust the encoding settings to optimize the quality and size of the files. In addition, it offers full support for common video formats, including professional formats such as ProRes and DNxHD. It is also integrated with other Adobe Creative Cloud applications, which facilitates the workflow for video editing. Finally, its batch processing feature saves me time by processing multiple files simultaneously.

Cons

It can be a bit slow when encoding large or high quality files. Also, it can be expensive if you are not already subscribed to Adobe's Creative Cloud suite. Finally, some of the advanced features can be difficult to use for beginners or less experienced users.

Reason for choosing Media Encoder

Utilisateur de la suite Adobe, il me fallait évidemment ce logiciel pour la conversion de mes fichiers.

I mostly use it to export from Premiere Pro or After Effects, and it does that well. So, I'm happy.

Adobe Media Encoder's fast and easy conversion and exporting is my favorite thing about it.

Cons

As much as it is quick to export, when it comes to uploading files onto the program, Media Encoder takes ages.

### "Media Encoder is our best friend"

February 23, 2021

5.0

It has been great. Our team could not deliver to our clients without it. We use it everyday for a variety of high end production needs.

Pros

We use media encoder everyday to compress files, create transcodes for projects, and export all sorts fo files types for our clients. It is a high end software that enables us to easily create the files that our clients need for online digital campaigns, files for broadcast, and anything in between. It is a wholly necessary tool for our post production business and we could not function without it.

Cons

With so many options and such a high amount of tools within Encoder, the learning curve can be a bit high to get started, but once you get over the hump, that is not an issue. This software just works for so many different projects.

### "Media Encoder in a Small Business"

January 5, 2021

4.0

Overall I am able to encode videos in very many formats as needed and can run multiple formats at the same time. This really helps productivity.

Pros

What I like most about media encoder is the queueing function. I have queued up to 25 videos before and walked away from the machine to let them encode and came back without incidence. This can be a huge time saver.

Cons

What I like least about this software is that if something goes wrong with the encode it be hard to identify what exactly happened. I usually end up watching the preview of the encode to see at what timestamp something happens and then deduce from there.

### "Media Encoder is one of the best rendering engines on the market. "

February 28, 2021

4.0

Using Media Encoder is a necessary part of my workflow. My process wouldn't be possible without it.

Pros

Being able to queue multiple things for render at the same time is a huge time saver. The option to change the render engine to use the Mercury Playback Engine or not is a great addition. Saving custom render options as presets is an important feature that I use daily.

Cons

It still doesn't fully support the h.265 codec. It uses the same render engine as Adobe Premiere Pro so when playing a clip in Premiere, Media Encoder pauses its rendering.

### "Media Encoder offers a variety of file formats."

September 23, 2022

I love the option of mass variety of file formats. This is a saver.

Pros

It is properly integrated into the adobe system, so it's easy queue work from your Premiere or After effects timeline and easily encode in a variety of formats available in the software.

Cons

The interface is not very friendly, not very intuitive. You'll have to watch tutorials to understand how it works.

### "A good tool but not perfect and a bit confusing at times"

July 19, 2021

4.0

Medi Encoder is useful but its UX and settings is clearly dedicated to people knowing what they do. A new user who just want to adjust some files or convert them for the web may find better solutions.

Pros

It is super easy to manipulate with its drag and drop features and comprehensive settings.

Cons

The encoding in some formats can be overwhelming, especially when you try to optimize the weight of the file. You can end with bigger files than the original with a lower quality for the encoded.

Overall you can easily change conversion compression, run multiple videos, and trust the exports will happen when you check-in later. It's a great tool for crunch time projects.

Pros

Cons
