### "Homework, homework, homework"

May 26, 2022

4.0

My overall experience is good, but not excellent (some of the sentences are kind of weird and not very useful). But it’s a good way to gain confidence on your grammar when it comes to write in a different language.

Pros

I think there are not such a thing of too many tools to help us learn (or improve) languages, so it’s good news that we have apps like Duolingo, one of the best known by the way. And that’s for something. I feel like I’m carrying my English teacher in my pocket, I can do the homework literally everywhere and at my own pace. I think it’s especially useful for beginners or for the lowest level skills.

Cons

This app is convenient and easy to use, but I’m not sure if it’s the best way to gain fluency in a language. I’ve been trying to be proficient in English for a while now, and I find it helpful to learn grammar, writing and reading, but not as much to improve my listening or speaking. Nothing like practicing dialogues and conversation with native speakers to do so, these language apps won’t do miracles.

### "Great for Language Learning"

March 12, 2022

5.0

I have been using Duolingo on and off since 2014. It has helped me learn couple of new languages and I use it to this day. I definitely recommend new language learners to install and use it.

Pros

Duolingo is a great tool to learn new language. Some of its best features are: abundance pf pictures to help the user learn even better, the stories that let the user interact with them, the weekly leaderboard that push the user to perform and learn even more, and many more.

Cons

The only thing I don't really like in Duolingo are the excessive ads that pop-up after every single lesson. It didn't use to be like that previously, but now it seems making money is the number priority instead of helping user learn new language (like it was originally). Other than that pretty decent software.

### "Excellent support to other language learning tactics/lessons/scenarios"

July 1, 2021

5.0

I have used Duolingo on and off again for years now. I've used it to support my Norwegian language lessons, and I've used it to practice my French as I was planning on going in to be a French Immersion teacher (then COVID hit so those plans got cancelled). I recommend it to families I've known through schools I work in as an EA, and I recommend it to my stepkids to support their learning. It's just a great program to practice what is already being taught, bearing in mind differences in accents, and localized slang. It is a great place to learn formal language skills however and then when you visit or move or meet people from another place you can pick up on the slang or more relaxed language skills then and there. I would not use it exclusively for learning a language, you need more conversations with people and turtors and real life experience, but it's a great support and great jumping off point for basic language skills.

Pros

It's a clean layout, easy to navigate, fun, nice animation. I've been able to recommend it to people as a free language support enhance their (or their kids') learning (essentially good for everyone young and old).

Cons

When using as a support for other language lessons (for me I used it to support my French, Spanish, and Norwegian learning/lessons) it can be hard to understand some of the verbal prompts; as a Canadian I am learning Quebecois French accent and vernacular, and my Norwegian lessons in person were with one kind of accent (very formal language and generic accent) however when I moved to Norway for 6 months I was actually in a completely different dialect than is presented in Duolingo and most of my lessons went out the window (though they were a good jumping off point for the language generally speaking, but Norway has as many dialects as Ireland has regional accents).

### "A must have for anyone interested in language learning or teaching"

March 30, 2021

5.0

Duolingo is a great app for whoever wants to learn, start learning or just stay engaged with the languages they're interested in. I use it to learn Japanese and whenever I develop an interest for any language, Duolingo is the first app that comes to mind. I've used several other software to try to learn but I always come back to Duolingo.

Pros

I teach languages for a living and one of the biggest challenges was to gauge how much and exactly what the students know. With Duolingo my job became a lot easier with their Duolingo For Schools product. Duolingo already makes language learning fairly simple by avoiding to overcomplicate the learning process with dense grammar and leaning towards a more intuitive experience but when they introduced this new feature on top of that it only made my love for the app even deeper.

Cons

Duolingo is a very intuitive app but it falls short when it comes to certain features. For example: it's very difficult to set up Duolingo For Schools and in the mobile app there isn't even any button for it. The student has to go to the settings and look for it. Also, Duolingo has features for some languages and not for others. I guess this is due to the time it takes to create content but until the day comes this will always feel like a downside.

### "Great way to learn language basics"

April 1, 2022

5.0

As a language learning programme, it works well. As a way to push and exercise your brain, it is brilliant. But it won't teach you phrases before a holiday.

Pros

It's easy to use and has clear navigation. The gamification works really well to motivate me and I feel that I'm learning the basics of the language.

Cons

There used to be options to speak and be graded on pronunciation, but this seems to be only for specific languages. I also wish there was an option to learn more practical words. For example, it's great to learn the word for 'tiger' but 'toilet' would probably be more important.

Reason for choosing Duolingo

It works well and the gamification is very motivating.

### "Brilliant Language learning tool"

August 27, 2021

Just waoo app for me and must try to learn new language

Pros

I moved Germany 2 years back and this tool was my support system to learn German. Its so good and it helps you to learn 100s of languages in your own language. You can congratulate and appreciate your friends as well when they complete some course or learn continuously. One of the best thing i like is small stories in new language where you can learn a lot.

Cons

Not all features are free but i appreciate the fact you can watch ad's videos to get some trials to check amazing paid features.

### "that's why i use Duolingo to learn any language"

April 22, 2022

5.0

overall experience, I would say that Duolingo has such great results, and everyone should use it.

Pros

Duolingo is a really common software to learn any language as a beginner, it has multiple versions, you can use it on your mobile, computer, tablet... Duolingo is using great technics to make learning easy for you, there are audio exercises, short stories...Duolingo has a great rewarding system, to make you really motivated to learn, you can practice any language you want anytime and there are no limits, the thing that I really liked more, that the app is always in touch with you and sends you notifications every day to remind you of your lessons, to be honest, the software is soo fun, I really enjoy it, and i use it most of my time.it has such a big impact on our lives.

Cons

the thing that i liked least, The ads. I don't see that ads are a good idea, and i think that can be affecting people while learning and distract them.

### "Learn languages without intensive courses"

December 15, 2022

4.0

Great! No app will ever be on its level

Pros

what I have always appreciated about Duolingo is the possibility of learning languages or improving the practicality of others through games, tests and challenges. It seems strange, but the "for fun" approach manages to teach many more things than boring severe and difficult courses. It starts from the basic knowledge to implement them more and more, without ever forgetting the previous ones. Furthermore, the function that I appreciate the most is being able to practice multilingual at the same time

Cons

I would like Duolingo to add the function of having a conversation with a robot, in voice form, or a chat conversation, to simulate a real chat with another person and make the daily practice of the language even more realistic

### "continually learn"

May 25, 2022

What I don't like is having to go back when I don't have access for a long time and I need to redo all the tests. This causes a little demotivation.

Pros

The highlight is having the app as your ally at all times. We can always access and learn without any kind of bureaucracy and we will never be wasting time. It's fun and it really teaches and I learn.

Cons

What I don't like is having to go back when I don't have access for a long time and I need to redo all the tests. This causes a little demotivation.

### "Best Language Learning App!"

July 4, 2023

4.0

Overall Duolingo is a great app to use, as it helps to prepare users for new language use.

Pros

I truly enjoy using the Duolingo app to learn new languages. There is such an ease to using this app and the graphics and games allow for users to come back each day to learn their desired language of choice,

Cons

This isn't much of a con. But sometimes Duolingo has system glitches. This could be a mispronunciation of a word, with a clearly different spelling. Though users have previously reported it, sometimes these glitches still remain.

### "Cosa può dare Duolingo?"

June 21, 2024

5.0

Nel complesso ho avuto un ottima esperienza con Duolingo, semplice da comprendere e utile per la comprensione di diverse lingue. Consigliato a tutti.

Pros

Ottimo per conoscere e scoprire nuove lingue o per migliorare quelle già conosciute. Molto semplice da utilizzare e concetti spiegati in maniera intelligente. A tratti anche divertente da utilizzare.

Cons

Purtroppo non mi è piaciuta molto la funzionalità delle "vite" e quasi l'obbligo di acquistare una versione premium per usufruire dell'applicazione al meglio.

### "Great for learning or updating ability for speaking languages."

June 7, 2022

4.0

I love it. It has been great for getting me back on track with my language and I am retaining more and more every day.

Pros

I like that it makes it fun. The animations are cute and encourage you to keep going. Even if you get something wrong, it encourages you to keep going. It also shows what your mistake was.

Cons

There are times you provide an answer similar to another time and it will mark it wrong. There seems to be an inconsistency there.

### "Melhor aplicativo para quem deseja aprender novas línguas "

July 20, 2023

5.0

### "V good for learning basics "

December 29, 2023

5.0

Pros

It's all done really well, gamification done right, hitting all the dopamine receptors. V easy to practise reading and writing anywhere - though listening and speaking practice can be harder if you're in public. The most french I've ever learnt.

Cons

The main issue is there's a clear upper limit to how much you can learn with Duolingo. There seem to have been more ads when I've looked at it recently.

### "Duolingo "

November 11, 2022

5.0

Pros

Even my father who is extreme hater of learning languages is now using duolingo to learn English more than two years. I honestly can't believe what happened. I think it is how greatly the app is made.

Cons

I know you need money to keep going, but I hate that I have only 5 hearts on a day.

### "Aprender compitiendo y de forma interactiva"

April 11, 2024

4.0

### "Good for Dabbling "

June 2, 2024

4.0

Pros

The ease of use is the first highlight of this app. The second would be how the app, at least to some extent, ensouls the process of learning a completely foreign and new language.

Cons

There is an insistence on keeping things fun while learning, which is great, but there is also a lack of depth beyond a certain level of learning. This dilutes the commitment to learning and practicing in the short term.

It doesn’t help you in reaching a high level of a language because it’s poor in grammar but it’s very useful to learn the lexicon, the vocabulary.

Pros

I used it to learn Spanish, especially the vocabulary. It helped me in practice in an amusing way.

Cons

At a certain point you have to pay to get a higher level.

### "App that addictive"

April 26, 2022

5.0

My experience with Duolingo was very addictive, when I saw myself, I was doing challenges in other languages in my spare time. The app gives you the free option to choose some languages and you can advance the challenges with fixation exercises.

Pros

1) The app is intuitive and easy to use. 2) The free version has a lot of activity and language. 3) You will learn as you advance through the levels. 4) The app encourages and reminds you to do the exercises every day. 5) Any spare time you have, you can learn while having fun. 6) Application with an attractive and fun layout. 7) There is also a placement test for you to start the course according to your proficiency.

Cons

I didn't have any problems with Duolingo, but I confess that the placement test could be shorter. Another thing that prevents it from being a complete course is the lack of interactivity with a native speaker of another language, but as it is a mobile application, it does what it proposes to do.

### "Best way to learn a foreign language"

May 20, 2023

5.0

I have used Duolingo several times to learn a foreign language. Once, I even studied for over a year every day without a break. I recommended it to a few friends, and they were also satisfied. It's a great solution for someone who prefers to learn on their own rather than with a native speaker or in a group.

Pros

Price (it's for free!), ease of use (the app guides you step by step by your hand), extensive language courses, UX of the app

Cons

Apart from minor mistakes in a few lessons (which I reported and which have been corrected), Duolingo works perfectly.
